Not a fan. My family only used this airline in a pinch because the so called friends we were going to drive with to Las Vegas cancelled everything without consulting with us first because of a huge misunderstanding. We weren't able to get much of a refund with the hotel we booked, so kept the reservation and decided to purchase plane tickets. The tickets were expensive... Fine, that's to be expected since it was last minute and during the holidays. What we didn't expect was that we had to pay for the carry on suitcase AND the boarding pass. They charge $50 for each bag, whether it's carry on or checked, so we combined our stuff into 1 little suitcase. Had we known this was going happen, we could have packed a full size suitcase and checked it in. Or both of us just could have brought a backpack that fits under the seat. A paper boarding pass was $5 each. Have you ever heard of such a thing? The way around that is to download the app & get the pass that way. At least they didn't charge extra when selecting seats. Also, thankfully for both flights, the plane was on time leaving and landing... Which is literally the bare minimum they should do. For the flight back, I downloaded the app so we could have mobile tickets. I tried to add a carry on luggage, but the app wouldn't allow me to do so. At the airport, there was a huge line just to pay for carry on or checked bag with many windows closed, so it took forever to get through. Finally, they opened more windows and let certain folks go first depending on flight departure time. After that, we still needed to get through security. I truly wish I never had to experience this airline and will definitely not be using them ever again. read more

This airline is racist against people who speak no English or are limited in English! I witnessed it myself when a young guy had some trouble expressing himself, and when an older lady with hearing issues couldn't really respond to the check in person because her hearing aids were running low on batteries. I was appalled when I witnessed the attitude towards these individuals. Embarrassed as a US citizen that a f%#* airline would treat people do unfairly for a language barrier or a disability. Absolute garbage airline. It was 90-100 degrees inside the aircraft on the tarmac and this is such a garbage budget airline, they wouldn't even turn on the APU to turn on the air conditioner. They don't make any effort to accurately tell people about the delays and repeatedly put up times that were obviously inaccurate. seems like half or more of my flights are delayed with this airline. It makes me sad to say that my recent flight on Allegiant was unsafe. None of the flight attendants nor the captain reminded fliers of the mask mandate and at least 2 fliers in my vicinity pulled down their masks for the entire flight. I alerted an attendant (by a note) & the captain came on & said to mask up because a couple fliers were uncomfortable. REALLY? It is the LAW to mask up on an airplane. My friend caught break-through Covid during a flight in June. So though Allegiant is convenient and fairly affordable, I will use a different airline next flight to Eugene. read more

We took 4 grandkids with us from Ft. Wayne to Tampa and after we checked in we noticed 2 of us had the same seat numbers. After holding for 2 hours we were transferred to a recording asking us how review our service and before we could the phone hung up. Finally after 2 more hours someone got back to us on chat and we had to recheck in for those seats. On the way back 3 of the grandkids were given the same seat. Went to the airport and had to explain problem and took a while to get straightened out. Finally heard from someone on their chat today which was after we got back and was told kids need their own phone. I moved to Vegas from central coast California one year ago. I have been flying back and forth ever since, visiting my fam. I have flown United, Frontier, Spirit, & Allegiant. Most were round trip, few were one way ( I missed my flights) I had to rebook. Allegiant is the best one. 1.many flight times available to choose from but be on time because they leave right on the minute. 2. Most straight forward and consistant with guidelines,policy 3. Prices are what they are, no "hidden fees" be sure to read the fees for baggage seats etc. I have paid as much as 350.00 and as low as 69.87. Allegiant flies into Monterey almost daily. Average price with no baggage is 99.00 round trip. Monterey Airport is so low key the trip can be very easy going making for great vacay. read more

After reading all of the negative reviews, I guess I can say I've been lucky enough not to have gone through any of that BS. I've flown numerous times to Las Vegas during different times of the year, even during Christmas and NYE, with no delays or other issues. Flights are cheap, just make sure you don't add the extra fees such as choosing your seat or having extra baggage. And don't expect any free snacks or drinks on your flight but really, its about a one hour flight. If its really needed I suggest buying something before you board. You are allowed to bring one personal item (must be able to store completely underneath seat in front of you. Max dimensions: 17x15x16 inches). Carry ons and checked in baggage have an extra fee. For my last flight, the only extra fee I had was $16/flight extra for my carry on. It's best to purchase this when you book your flight or else you'll be paying twice that amount at the airport. There is also a great app to purchase flights, check in, get your boarding pass and get notifications/alerts regarding your flight. I highly recommend downloading it on your smartphone before your trip. For me, this is definitely worth the convenience. A 25min drive to get to MRY vs an hour to SJC is worth it especially when I'm flying solo. Plus, MRY is a small airport so less people, less stress. Hopefully this luck continues for me!! read more

I had an ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE experience with Allegiant Air!! Not only was my checked bag lost, they have no system to actually track if my bag was ever loaded on the plane, nor any way to give me any idea of where it might be. I asked the office at arrivals and had to make suggestions in order for them to take any of my information or make an effort to log this in their system. I was not given any other information except "look at our website and send an email" with no help whatsoever. I had to call into customer service, sit on hold for 30 minutes to finally be given a different e-mail address (from the one on their website) to send in my confirmation number and description of my bag. I was then told that they might not know if my bag is technically "lost" for at least 30 days! I was told that I can send receipts for any items I need to replace (before finding out if my bag is found or not) to the same e-mail address "but we cannot guarantee that any of it will be reimbursed." When I asked how long it will take before I can request reimbursement for items in my bag, I was told that I had to wait 30 days! !??! Worst airline experience to date - I fly frequently and thought I'd give them a shot - BAD IDEA! I WILL NEVER FLY ALLEGIANT AGAIN and HIGHLY recommend not flying them - spend a few extra bucks for an airline that can handle their business! read more

Allegiant Air flys from Monterey to Vegas. However they just added a couple new destinations: Los Angeles and San Diego. Now I though $200 roundtrip was not bad from MRY but apparently everyone in line waiting to check-in told me they only paid $19 (one way). They were going to take Southwest for a return trip for $39. Um... I thought I was smart. Now I know better. My flight to and from Vegas was probably my most memorable domestic. I can't top my Mile High initiation experience on my way to Tahiti. Anyways from the second I hopped in this pretty large (50 rows - most flights out of MRY seat 12 or so or that is what it feels like) fleet I knew it was going to be a shit show. Luckily I sat next to these 2 adorable boys that were so excited to hit up Vegas. they were talking about gambling and ordering up Gardetto Snack packs and Monster Java (energy drink). When the attendant asked would you like Original or Irish Blend the poor kid had no idea what the difference was and almost shat in his pants. The kid in the middle ordered a Dr. Pepper and literally spilt it in his crotch, I laughed so hard I almost dropped one of my glasses of wine. What? I was double fisting from the get go. One stewardess (that's not PC anymore is it) had on heels and I'm not talking 2 inch pumps. I wear 4" stilletos when I travel (or go to work, or on a walk in the city you get my point) and her's had to be 3inches. That's fine and all and I thought I'd wear those too if I worked in a plane but this lady was already 6 feet tall, I kid you not. The red headed slighlty more mature (a lot older) lady had a faux hair scrunchie... you know what I'm talking about. Yikes! Who wears that. I was trying everything in my power not to mention and finally I turned to one of the boys and said, "Do you see what I'm seeing?" To my surprise the kid in the middle knew exactly what I was talking about, observant little guy. And we just busted out laughing and I was so impressed that this 15 year old (whol looked 12) knew his shit. He also pointed out the young lady who sat on the other side of the aisle and said "She is taking way too long to do her make-up." Um my thought exactly... Sweetheart if you can't finish your make up in 30 minutes, I'm sorry there is nothing you can do to make your facce look better. She wasn't even applying makeup just powdering her face. I wear Bare Minerals and I can do mine in less thatn 2 minutes. Less is more here chica! On my flight back I was having hot flashes and could barely carry my luggage as I ran to catch my flight (last one on always). Actually they said check-in was closed but I said, "That's nice" and stood there until he printed a boarding pass for me. I would have missed it as I don't have to work on Mondays but I had to be at court that is a whole nother story... (just traffic school related). Way back they seat me next to a bachelorette party and next to the 2 girls that I actually knew on the flight back (they all work at the local bank). Usually one would want to sit next to people you know on a flight but in my state not so much. I'm not a puker thank god, but I was afraid I'd pass out and drool on the poor girl so I accidently caused a little scene when I asked if I could move. I saw some free seats just up ahead and the poor (cute gay) flight attendant couldn't hear me and had no idea what I was asking. I wasn't making sense period. I had just partied so hard all weekend, no sleep, no food strictly liquid diet so I wasn't making sense to myself. I put my goods down and laid myself on 2 free seats and I was a happy camper. I opened my eyes to a couple on the other side who I knew were hurting in a different way. The guy had been puking and had a huge garbage bag around his mouth. Normally, you would think this is a big deal like in limos ( no puking). On a flight to and from Vegas this is the norm. I felt at home. I don't highly recommend Allegiant but it is ridable and slightly enjoyable and definately entertaining. You have no other choice if you are flying out of Monterey so enjoy. This is a pretty ghetto airline. They changed the way they show the fares on the website and include the taxes now, but you still need to uncheck all the add ons and don't reserve a seat if you want to get a cheaper fare. They also started charging for carry ons that don't fit under the seat, but if you don't bring your bags to the counter, I don't see how they'd know. I didn't see anything about it on the ticket. The boarding and deplaning process is very painful. You'd think that most of their passengers have never been on a plane before. Just put your damn bags in the overhead bin, sit down, and gtfo of the way. On the return trip, get a seat as close to the back of the plane as you can, they deplane from the back too in Monterey, and they have the back door open before they can even get the ramp up to the main cabin door. It will get you off the plane 20 minutes earlier. You can thank me later. It still beats driving to San Jose to fly on a real airline. read more

All they say is "high call volume." Arrgggg! SO frustrating. This is one of those great finds that you have to share! This airline flies out of Monterey twice a week; Thursday and Sunday at this current time. Its great not to have a lengthy,Busy drive after a flight! Small airport means less time waiting at the luggage carousel, & find your waiting loved ones easily, & the parking is easily accessed whether you're parked in long term terminal parking or short term parking, you quickly find your vehicle and check out, then you're on highway 68 & home within 20 minutes you can't be that! This airport is just as expedient for beginning your trip. Checking in for your flight & checking your luggage takes just a few minutes, no lengthy lines that are slow and flawed, none of that here ' After you have checked in you can take in our beautiful weather and watch the planes come and go , or have a leisurely meal or a creative drink at the restaurant/bar. After abit go thru security (this takes about 5 minutes on a busy day), once on the other side of security take a few moments and wander thru the gift shop. It has many unusual items, jewelry, tote bags, books, & souvenirs from Monterey Bay Area, Big Sur and Santa Cruz. There are many interesting items and snacks for the plane ride, which is only about 1 1/2 hours. I've traveled this airline frequently and have been pleased. One more caveat my mother had special needs just plain help, I've requested wheel chairs for her when she arrive and leaves & on both ended of her travel she has a chair and is taken aboard & off the plane and to baggage claim by pleasant people. They even offer her a restroom stop! But I could only give 4 stars because of one lengthy delay, 6 hours waiting to fly out, it was a weather thing! And I did receive a voucher for my next trip, so as you see this airline takes care of its customers & its a great little airport. I fly out & back to this efficient Airport and love being home so quickly just a quick ride down highway 68 and I feel that wonderful ocean breeze I know I'm home, Thumbs up for Monterey Airport ! My family and I have been using allegiant for years now. Sometime near the time we moved to las vegas 7 years ago. And I would've rated them at that they would have been a 4-5 star. But now, they are hands down, no doubt in my mind a star at best. I would give them 0 stars if I had an option. All of my experiences and things are hear from family and friends are - cancel or delayed. I know life happens but they are pretty good at being consist with that. My wife and child was recently there from 9am until 4pm just to find out her flight was cancelled and her next possible flight could be 7pm the next day. No reasons, no excuses. They boarded late, sat in the plane for an hour with no AC on, then was told they had to deplane and wait. Of course, safety is first and I would take a canceled flight over losing my family over an accident but it really seems they have something more than a maintenance issue over there. Seriously considering taking the San Jose airport from now on. That 1hr drive might be worth it. read more

They brought in 6 boxes of little Caesars pizza for 100 people. Seriously!? Can you even do math?!? We are hungry! We are frustrated! We are disappointed ! My husband flies allegiant once a year for vegas. Seems like it's getting worse each year. Delay after delay after delay then issues taking off. It's terrible. Won't be using them again! PLEASE READ!!! This rating is actually for NO stars... (and keep in mind, all this happened on our honeymoon) Allegiant Airlines: 1) allowed one of their employees to harass us twice and then also his fellow employee on their company radio, then we were told to FILL OUT A COMMENT CARD about it since there were no managers on duty that day when we reported it; 2) kept us on plane for TWO HOURS on the tarmac knowing everybody was being exposed to a poisonous gas on the plane, sent their employees to the ER after consulting MedLine, but did not warn us about any health risks nor pass on the physicians orders; 3) cancelled our flight and refused to fly us out on another flight that same night; 4) refused to change our reservation dates for our Vegas honeymoon package through them after THEY cancelled our flight, didnt not send another plane for us until the next evening (which came TWO HOURS LATE), refused to call the Venetian to change our reservation dates, then CHARGED US for missing our night at the hotel which they refused to fly us to; 5) would not give any food vouchers to cover the three meals we had to pay for due to their negligence; 6) flew us out 2 hours LATE on our rescheduled flight out; 7) loaded us into a broken plane for our flight home, then deboarded us after making us wait 1.5 hours on the tarmac while they tried to fix the plane we were sitting in and made us wait another hour for a replacement plane; 8) charged us for basic drinks (soda & tea) on the flight home which had been free on the flight over; 9) is still making our lives a living hell as we try to get reimbursed for the night they charged us for but never gave us... is that legal?! This airline blatantly takes advantage of their customers. If I hadnt already paid for our entire honeymoon through these guys, I would have gone somewhere else. Absolutely the worst airline ever! Make sure to buy trip insurance if you fly this airline. I've flown them twice from Santa Maria to Las Vegas and the first time my flight got delayed 7 times before they finally canceled it. No clear communication. Sat at the airport for 6 hours and the only time I got info is when I walked up and asked what was going on. That was a few years ago. I decided to try them again since time had past and this time the flight got diverted in the air just as we were about to land in Santa Maria and then We had to fly back to Vegas and they couldn't get us on another flight for 3 days. They offered no hotel, no compensation and no refund. They were bascially like "sorry for the inconvenience you're on your own." The lack of give a care with everyone from the pilots to the flight attendants to the gate agents was upsetting. Again barely any communication about what was going on. In fact we waited nearly 25 minutes before the pilots told us why we had to turn around. (fog and broken landing equipment at the airport) This is a cheap airline and I will never fly it again. Make sure to buy trip insurance if you dare to fly on this airline. You get what you pay for and it's not much. I don't recommend this airline to anyone. read more

It's basically just a cheap flight to Vegas, but be very, very careful when you book. Allegiant is like a shady used car-dealer, using every trick in the book to pad the originally low price. First, forget the stated price. There is a mandatory "service and taxes" fee which adds 50%. Then the real stuff starts. Seat reservation, boarding priority, and baggage fees are by default sequentially added when you go from screen to screen. That's the real genius of it: just when thought you had already deactivated an expensive add-on, the next screen adds a new one! In the midst of getting out of the new add-on, the old one reappears! At the end, if you hadn't carefully scrutinize every screen,and taken active steps to remove all the add on "options", you would've paid *triple* the advertised fare. I've never encountered another airline quite like this. I'm sure it's all perfectly legal, but treat it like a scammer. read more

I think the crew we have met has been very friendly. This is a bit of a trash airline, but I kind of enjoy flying on their MD-80s since they are pretty quiet. Also, I typically fly from SFO/SJC but Monterey is a really nice area and sometimes its a nice change. Yes, you do get nickled and dimed, but you are paying $27 for MRY-LAS. Cram some stuff in a backpack and be thrilled that you got a great deal. This is not Virgin America or a mainline carrier. read more

They take forever to answer your calls and when you email them they respond with the phone number. After reading the reviews I'm scared. I love riding in airplanes and have never been afraid of flying... until I flew Allegiant. To be perfectly fair, the flight from Monterey to Vegas went fine. Sure, the way they handled the lines and boarding was awkward and confusing, but I was prepared for that. Cheap tickets means chaos and no frills. I'm fine with that as long as I know it going in. The return trip was deeply distressing and I don't say that lightly. We boarded an hour late at Vegas. We were told it was because there was a problem with the latch on the lavatory door. It became apparent this was not the truth when we were able to board. An engineer had boarded the plane and was attempting to troubleshoot the problem and he never went near the lavatories. He spent his time in the cockpit and was given a chair during takeoff so he could monitor the plane. When we took off it was obvious to everyone onboard there was something very wrong. The engines were loud and sounded as though they were surging. There was a strong smell of exhaust in the cabin. The captain seemed to be having some trouble maintaining control over the plane as we were rocking from side to side as we flew. We immediately turned around and landed back in Vegas. The captain announced over the loudspeaker that the plane had a problem with the navigation radio, which made no sense to me whatsoever. Why would a problem with the navigation radio cause all of those other problems? We landed safely and returned to the terminal. We were told by the flight crew that a new plane would be coming to replace this airplane in about ten minutes. Three hours and two gate changes later a plane did arrive, but it too was taken out of service because of mechanical difficulties. That plane seemed to actually be leaking fluid onto the runway. Two hours later a new plane arrived and we boarded. This plane was in good shape and we returned to Monterey safely. We did try to find another flight back to Monterey while were were stuck in Vegas with no updates, but unfortunately everyone else had no open seats. We should have flown to San Jose and rented a car, but we were idiots and stuck it out.. I honestly feel like Allegiant let our plane take off when it was clear the plane was in no shape to do so. I didn't appreciate the lack of information about the wait time and especially about the mechanical problems the planes had. I cannot, in all honesty, recommend this airline. read more

My boyfriend his mom, brother and his girlfriend flew Allegiant this past weekend. The seats were not bad the pilot flew the plane great the flight was from chicago to Savanna Ga. The seat directly across from us was a couple who had a dog crying the entire trip in addition to that I'm allergic to pet hair. she took the dog out of the carrier and put the dog on her lap he barked and cried the entire flight. A woman walked past with a little girl and the dog tried to jump out of the owners lap at the little girl. Then the flight attendant ask them to put the dog back in the carrier. My eyes started to itch and by the time I got to the hotel mu eyes were bloodshot red. I had to find Benadryl ASAP. Ruined my entire trip. As we on the flight back home on Monday, low and behold this dam same couple is on the se flight again but was eventually escorted off. The flight going back to chicago wasn't bad, but my eyes were still red so I didn't enjoy my trip. Wasted money read more

I am updating my review to a 2 Star. The reason for the add-on... After countless hours on the phone with their customer service (which I still feel is poor) and multiple email requests Allegiant agreed to refund one leg of my flight which is better than nothing so I'll take it. I do feel additional compensation for the return trip home would have been a good business decision but do appreciate the partial refund. A flight attendant (tall male) literally snatched a purse from an elderly woman, who more than likely spoke very little English and didn't understand their request, to place her purse into the overhead bin. I felt so ashamed just watching that happen. I only flew this airline because I didn't want to drive to San Jose to catch a Delta flight, but NEVER AGAIN will I make that mistake. false advertising. buyer beware. do not buy the package deals. i booked air and hotel to las vegas with promotion of $75 food and entertainment credit. checked into hotel and they said no mention of $75 credit on my reservation., i talked to allegiant, they said promotion was 3 night stay required. a bunch of b.s. the promotion said 2 night stay and i had a copy of the reservation and promo stating 2 night stay so i know they were deflecting this complaint. i even sent them a copy of the reservation with promo terms and conditions and it stated 2 night stay required and black out dates applied. i was not in the blackout date., they said they would send to management and get back to me in 4-6 weeks, well based on prior reviews, i'm not holding my breath for the refund, read more

I cannot even tell you how much I hate this airline. We planned a vacation with friends to meet in Las Vegas. They flew out of Santa Maria, and we flew from Monterey. Our planes were due to arrive minutes from each other. Perfect right? Our friends let us know that they were boarded and taking off. We were still sitting in the terminal waiting to board (5 minutes before departure time). We finally boarded but ended up sitting on the tarmac in a hot plane with no water for over an hour while they were waiting for paperwork (supposedly). By this time our friends plane had landed in Vegas and we were still in Monterey with no information, no updates, sweating... We heard them trying to start the plane over and over... Weird smells were filling the cabin, people were getting very irritated. After an angry passenger basically charged to the front of the plane and demanded they open the door to let some air in, the police were called, and we were all required to deplane. We waited inside for two hours before they said they were getting another plane to come pick us up (without ever telling us why) only to tell us another hour later that the flight was cancelled and they would fly us out the following day, time TBD. We ended up renting a car one way from Monterey and driving 8 hours to make it there at 11pm that night. It was the most economical and quickest option considering they were only giving us a $100 voucher for our trouble. While we were driving I got an email from Allegiant saying the flight was rescheduled for the following day... At 745pm. We lost an entire day of our vacation because this airline sucks. There was no explanation, no information, just cancelled. I've tried calling them multiple times to no avail. On top of that they charge for everything... Including soda on the plane. I would review the flight I was about to take today but I'm sitting pretty at home instead as my flight still has not taken off! The prior flight to San Diego was delayed 4 hours and my flight to Los Angeles is supposed to depart at 5 now (originally scheduled for 1:20 pm). Never in my life has a one hour flight been delayed so badly (non-weather-related) with absolutely no alternatives. They have no airline partners BTW. The reason being mechanical so that was enough for me to jet on out. *no pun intended* So I'm out of $60 (a deal just too good to be true) but at least I'm not sitting miserable at the tiny airport with nothing to do and waiting for yet another update. I will from now on, pay a little more, drive a little farther (SJC), but at least I know Southwest will refund me or put me on the next flight if something similar were to occur! read more

Zero stars! My daughter flies to Vegas to visit her dad. He pays for the flight. I told him this summer she needs to fly through Monterey because it costs me about $50 each time she travels. However one trip through Allegiant Air and I don't care about driving to SJC anymore! $5 for a boarding pass?? Seriously?!? And they don't accept cash. Late flights. Rude counter help. They tried to tell me I couldn't take my daughter to gate. I had to insist because she was a minor. Never had such a problem with Southwest and she travels quite often. I didn't even have to pay for the flight and it was frustrating knowing how many extra fees they charge. Avoid! The hassle, gas and time it takes to drive to SJC is worth it! read more
