Women tend to play down a man's measurements - but, men know that inches really matter in both length and girth - to a tailor. [What were you thinking? For shame.] A few months ago, I had to get into full ceremonial garb (i.e. a business suit) for an occasion. But, I discovered that, since my last occasion, my waistline had expanded thanks to a slowing metabolism. Usually, I'm coming here to have new pants hemmed and cuffed since the mother/daughter team that owns and operates this shop does quality work, at a fair price, and with a pretty quick turnaround of usually a week. Now, I know in our "instant gratification is not fast enough" society, a week seems like a long time but, if you went without the new pants for all of this time, what's another week to have them fit properly? Anyway, since I had a pair of suit pants that needed alteration due to my added girth (that's what he said!), I called up the shop and explained the issue. The young lady said that it would run $12 plus tax if there was enough material to make it happen and take the usual week. When I explained that I needed it for a funeral, she quickly volunteered that she could do it in 2 days. Excellent customer friendly attitude! True to her word, she had them fluffed out by the extra amount that I needed - otherwise, my backup plan was to put on my man-girdle (made of the finest whalebone) to get into the pants. They have a couple of changing rooms if you want to try on your new duds and do your own runway walk, too. For inseam jobs, you can bring in a pair that fit just right and she'll use it to measure if you want to avoid the awkward touching. A posted sign says "Cash payment in advance" but she sometimes lets you slide if she likes your face - so be polite. They may accept credit cards but I usually pay in cash in advance to help them avoid the fees. Bring some cash dollars and make it rain - but not so much with the golden dollar coins since they tend to hurt on impact. So, if you gained a little girth where it kind of counts, don't be afraid to talk about it - with your tailor. Four fully fluffed stars.

Trusting the experiences of Yelpers, I took a pair of dresses to this tailor in February. Note the sign only says "Tailor" now, so I'm not sure if ownership has changed from when the reviews were good (the All Style part from the previously taken picture is now gone). Dress 1: The stitching was uneven. On this dress at least it didn't show on the outside (comments I got when I mentioned the uneven stitching included: "It look fine on outside! Why you look inside?" and "You too picky! Other people not that picky!"). I told her my concern was that the stitching, being loose in some areas, would come out. She informed me that wouldn't happen and then said she would fix it for free if it came loose. However, she wouldn't give me anything in writing, not even a receipt to show that I had gotten it altered at her place to begin with. So I think she could easily claim not to have ever seen the dress before if the stitching came loose and I brought it back. Dress 2: The hem was sewn unevenly. Black stitches showed through the dress on the front side. The machine she used apparently pulled on the fabric and there are now also white streaks on the front. Comments I got when I pointed that out: "That how it look before!" Luckily the cut-off original hem was still in her scrap pile. She then said: "I don't notice it before you say it." When I brought up my concern that the fabric was damaged: "The machine do it like this. What you want me do? I have no choice!" Apparently, a machine that could make it like the original hem costs a lot of money. I told her if she'd told me this, I wouldn't have had it hemmed to begin with. Then she said, "It not my fault! It your cloth!" She did offer to fix what she'd messed up: "You give me 10 dollars more, I fix it for you. That good deal for you." So she potentially ruined the fabric on the hem of my dress and didn't even notice when she was doing it, and then apparently didn't check to see what the final result of her work was, and she demands even more money to fix what she messed up. I told her I was very unhappy with this situation. She yelled, called me "mean", and told me I was just trying to get her to work for free, and never to come back. I wouldn't come back even if she did my tailoring for free--the Anthropologie dress she's possibly ruined is worth a lot more than she was trying to charge me ($40). She doesn't even understand why I'm upset--the dress would have been fine the way it was if she'd just told me she CAN'T HANDLE IT with her machine. I only wanted it hemmed about an inch and a half, and the midi look is in anyway. Also, when I took this to another tailor to fix, IT WAS HEMMED OVER AN INCH LONGER ON THE LEFT SIDE. Awkward. She couldn't even hem it the same length all the way around. So, in summary. Unprofessional. Low standards for quality. Does not stand behind her work. Blames the customer's fabric when she messes up and doesn't check her results. Demands more money to fix problems she's created. Doesn't know her limits when she's accepting work (and in fact apparently didn't even look at the hem itself before accepting the work, because she later said she didn't realize either of the hems were stitched the way they were originally). She might do okay with jeans, but I wouldn't bring her anything worth more than 20 bucks to fix in case she ruins it. I did pay her some money for the time she spent, because I'm "mean" like that. In a fair world she would have paid me for the damages to my dress, but unfortunately that's not how the tailoring business works. Buyer beware! I promised her I would post pictures of her work and let future customers decide if they want to try her. So, here you are.

The all and mighty hole in my prom dress
Linh N.

I would give this place negative star if possible. My prom dress that I bought online was too big for me, so I brought it here after I read all the wonderful reviews. Turned out, the quality was horrible. My dress was ruined. The top was a LITTLE loose, the waist was a LITTLE tight and pulled at the top half of the dress a LITTLE. She had to take off the draping in front when she fixed the waist and sewed it on a LITTLE crooked and pulled at the dress. The sewing lines were a LITTLE crooked, she blamed it on my dress was too heavy that it kept slipping off the workstation. The pow was ugly, luckily I just had to cut the thread and re-tie it. However, all the other "LITTLE wrongs" turned into "a BIG wrong". Moneys is not papers, and it was threw in the trash. I went back for a second alteration since she said she'd do it. It still the same on me, tight right where the bodice and the dress met. She said, "it look fit, it must be fit, I don't know why you feel tight". Sooooo, I was not even a bit happy. She and my mom both talked how it because I bought it online, and she talked while sewing it up like I wasn't even there when I was right there at front table. The attitude she give me was unbelievable, I never meet someone with such a bad customer service. I couldn't really talk back because Asian I am, I was raised to be respectful in the present of elder. When I went home, I found a fucking hole in the liners between the bodice and the dress because she didn't properly sew it back in, and I'm too tired to go back because I might actually start yelling. If you have normal daily clothes or whatever I think you can come here (or not), but if you want formal dresses and suits alterations, DO NOT come here. I warned you.

Awful repair job.

I have used this shop for about 10 years now, and have found them to be very reasonable and reliable. I'd recommend them!
