His Grady White fishing boat is a great boat, the perfect set up and he was ready to roll as soon as we arrived. As we headed out to our first fishing spot he spotted porpoises and we stopped to watch them for a few minutes. At our first fishing spot, my 9 year old son caught a beautiful King Salmon within the first 5 minutes, he put up a good fight and my son was psyched to reel it in. We all caught and released some big Kings - lots of smiles and laughs reeling them in, for sure. Captain Dave kept our lines baited, was quick and patient to get any lines untangled and was really good with the kids. We were lucky to go out just after Dungeness Crab season opened and were able to throw a couple crab pots out first thing; we checked them on our way in and got lucky and took home a few crab too. Plenty of them employ "experts" who are outright disdainful and rude to customers who don't know what they're doing. Most other shops aren't designed to foster a real community, let alone bring a positive force to the larger community of the neighborhood. They were patient and supportive, explaining all of it. And they made it super fun for the kids. And we came out with a ton of fish! Broken down on the dock and the kids were able to feed the harbor seals the salmon bones. The second time with just our family and it was just Donovan and it was still awesome. I took the opportunity to take a seat one morning and picked a fine spot to do so. Being on vacation allows you to do what you want at your speed. I wanted to make the most of this trip and take in as much of this city as I could before I would depart. Walked all the way to the end of the pier and slid into one of the orange chairs and just stared off into the horizon. Letting the breeze flow over me. I would glance up and down the waterfront every so often, but just kind of absentmindedly stared at the water. Seems to be a good place to see some of the wildlife. Unexpectedly a pair of seals popped up and were playing in front of me and several other people sitting there. A highlight of the day for sure, and kind of a segwue into the next part of my day.

It's clear they do some events here too....they were taking down a canopy while I was there probably from something they were doing during the day.
