Our food was soon there and we dug in. My chicken fried steak was good but the mashed potatoes and cornbread were the stars. I'm not a big fan of salad or green beans but they were pretty good for vegetation. My wife enjoyed her catfish basket. She prefers cornmeal on catfish over flour breading and was pleased with the crispy cornmeal and the generous portion. Now for the main event. Pie! Strawn's is known for their strawberry pie and for good reason. It was the best strawberry pie that I have ever eaten. The whipped cream topping was transcendent and paired perfectly with the strawberries. My photo does not do this pie justice. That's what I would think too but it's not true. We went again today and asked for fries as a side. She wouldn't do it. She said to get fries we have to come inside. So if you can actually order everything on the menu through the drive thru apparently the employees don't know that and need to be told. I ordered the pork tenderloin today and this is now the third time we got home, took the first bite, and it was so full of black pepper that it was completely inedible. It went straight into the trash and was a complete waste of money. Once, maybe twice, I could understand an off day. But this is now the third time there has been WAY too much pepper in the pork tenderloin. Does no one taste this before it's sold? Whoever is making it is putting way too much black pepper in it. When this place is good, it's really good. Unfortunately, the quality control is nowhere to be found so you never know if it's going to be a good day or a bad one. Add to that you STILL can't order everything on the menu through the drive thru regardless of what the manager claims and it went from 3 down to 2 stars.
