We were really apprehensive with recurring sewer-line problems in the 150-foot run from our house…read moreto the city sewer line. Knowing you've got a major problem 6 or 7 feet underground is worrisome. Not knowing exactly what was wrong added to the angst of knowing you could have a sewage backup in the cellar at any time without warning. Several expensive visits from Roto-Rooter to fix past backups proved to be only temporary solutions. The Roto-Rooter people said "there's something about 90 feet out there and we don't know what it is." They'd put a camera out in the line but it didn't give an answer--much like trying to scuba dive in murky water. Henry Richard Sr. & Jr. came highly recommended via word-of-mouth and proved to be an amazing team in locating the problem, then excavating, repairing it, and cleaning up after the job. The capability and "can-do" attitude they bring to a job is infectious. It turns out someone thought it would be a good idea to construct a manhole/sewer turret under our driveway when the house was built 30-plus years ago. It could have been to hook up a second home on the property to the sewer or been the creation of a city inspector giving the contractors a tough time. No one knows or remembers, and the second home never was built on the lot. Anyway, the sewer pipe from the house ended at one side of the manhole cistern. Effluent ran across the bottom and out the other side into the continuation of the pipe. The repair came down to digging down 3 feet, opening up the manhole (covered by a large metal plate) and facing a choice: 1. doing a cleanout (roots and solid cement-like crud) which certainly would have bought us some years of good service but eventually coming back to the problem situation or 2. digging out the manhole and replacing it with a solid PVC pipe with a cleanout pipe coming to the surface (in a garden area) to permanently solve the situation. Opting for the latter was a no-brainer since we were paying a two-hour minimum anyway. Young Henry truly is a maestro at the excavator's controls. working deftly in a congested area, finding the problem, offering the best solution and having everything back together in 5 hours. We felt they did a major job at a reasonable price, gave us good advice, and reassured us that the problem was solved permanently. In researching solutions, we'd been told that adding a third cleanout might be a wise idea. Henry said, "I'm in business to make money, but you just don't need it." I'm not in the habit of writing reviews, but these guys were up-front, fair, and did a great job. Their motto is "If it's round and in the ground, we can fix it." We agree.

They picked up the phone, got me in touch with service person, arrived in window they gave me, unclogged and cleaned pipes, and cleaned up and left. It's wasn't inexpensive, but I think the rate is reasonable for weekend service. I think I would've paid just about anything anyway. It was a nasty mess... I tried several local plumbers first but didn't have success getting them over to the house. I hope never to deal with such issue, but I know exactly who to call first.

I had an incredibly frustrating experience with Rapid Flow regarding a flat roof drain that backed…read moreup 4 separate times over a 6 month period. I was charged for the 4 visits but then they actually waived the fee for the second visit because their first attempt failed after just 4 days. I paid them for 3 separate visits where they repeatedly ran standard mechanical snakes and high pressure jetters through the line without ever resolving the problem. According to their own technicians notes on my invoices, there are structural and physical issues with this line that standard snaking cannot fix. On the second invoice their tech noted a "vent issue" caused by roof drain's trap layout. Then, on the most recent invoice, the technician explicitly wrote that something lodged inside the trap is very hard to get by' and admitted the line 'can close up if more debris goes down.' Instead of addressing these chronic issues, they just kept snaking the line to collect the repetitive fees. Worse yet, on the final visit, the manager, Tom, explicitly stated that a diagnostic video camera inspection would be performed before any high pressure water jetting took place. When I received the invoice, there was no mention of the video inspection. When I questioned the manager, Tom about it on Friday he became extremely angry over the phone, was yelling, and claimed the video was done and would email it to me on Monday. It is now Thursday and I have received nothing from him. The only thing sent to me were 2 pictures taken by technician during their visit. One picture was of the exterior roof basket and the other picture was the top of the drain opening from the outside. I sent them both to Tom saying that was what the technician sent me. They took my money for 3 visits, failed to provide the diagnostic proof they promised, and charged me full price while knowingly leaving a hard object trapped inside the pipe that they admitted will cause it to flood again. Do not trust this company!
