Have used LCSH for my kids for years from infant through preK. I have had only good experiences and…read moregreat things to say. The infant and toddler room was safe, teachers communicate well, and are caring. The preschool room (2-3years) was also welcoming, caring teachers, and safe. They take the kids to activities like walks, local parks, and keep them safe. The best experience has been pre-K; They are really a comprehensive Pre K program, with 2 teachers / up to 20 kids, and incorporate reading, writing, science, math, field trips, park, library, swimming.. I have toured other pre-K's including expensive private preK's in newton. None of them were up to par with LCSH. LCSH is both quite affordable for its excellent location, and comprehensive. Diverse students are a plus. The other pre-K's including much more expensive private places like Bright Horizon's do not do field trips, swimming, theatre, yoga etc like LCSH incorporates....so, having toured a bunch of other pre-K I love LCSH the most.. Ms Sandra is the contact / local director and she is pretty busy I am sure responsive when needed. The teachers in Pre K have been also very responsive by the app every day, sharing photos, responding to your questions, etc. And accommodating for example I wanted privacy for bathroom for the kids/ dietary restrictions like gelatin etc they were always aware and made sure to follow the preferences. 10/10 recommend.

Our son has been at Little Corner Schoolhouse (Too location) for almost a year now. He started in…read morethe toddler room and has now moved up to he preschool room. He loves it there and therefore we love it there. The teachers do a great job updating the parent communication app (Brightwheel) and I love getting anywhere from 3-10 photos of him doing fun things throughout the day. A brief update of what they did for the day is also posted in the app. Both toddler and preschool teachers send out a monthly curriculum of the theme for the month and what the kids are learning. This is great because then we can reinforce the same themes at home. They mix it up with activities including periodic yoga and children's musicians. If I were to have any more "wants" it would be to go outside more. They do go on walks and to the playground almost daily, depending on weather. I'm all about outdoor time so I would have them out in a drizzle and even when it's cold -- but, this isn't an outdoor school, and they do spend a good amount of time outside. Other big plusses in my book are low teacher turnover and hours (6:30am-6:30pm). We usually do ~8:30am-6pm but it's nice that it's open earlier for those days when I have an early appointment or it's an exceptionally early wake up. It's a welcoming environment and I'm glad my son is happy to run in to play every day.

Enrollment process was terrible. People from the Brookline location kept directing me to an online…read moreregistration form that wasn't working. When I told them, they recommended I call headquarters, which I did. I spoke to one person initially, who told me my registration was all set and processed. When I called headquarters again after a week because I did not receive a confirmation, I spoke with another person who said nothing was processed and that I owe $150 for the registration fee. This is specifically after the first person told me I do not need to pay the fee on account of where I worked. So I chose to no longer complete my registration. Fast forward two weeks, I receive an email out of the blue from someone from Bright Horizons to register online, with a note that the fee can be waived depending on where I work. This time, the form is working. I went through the registration process and at the end, it said I did not owe any money. After I set up my account, however, I saw a $150 charge that was created on the date I spoke with the second person from headquarters. I reached back out to the person who emailed me, who recommended I call headquarters... The disorganized nature of this entire process, which has dragged on for more than a month, makes me hesitant to trust them with the care of my future child.

No chants, no theme days, no park visits, just 100% build. He was so focused on his build that he skipped lunch on the last two days. (Good and bad haha) On the first day they learned about battle it's (through videos) and built cardboard prototypes with motorized manufactured wheels. These cardboard versions battled it out. :) Days 2 and 3 were modeling their vehicle and 3d printing the models. It looks like Guild Hall is a membership-based makerspace that happens to hold summer camps. The Cambridge location has a LOT of 3d printers, which meant the kids could model, print, and assemble the same day. Amazing! Day 4 was coding the controller. Unfortunately, my kid was maybe a bit too optimistic about how much time was needed to model and print vehicle, so he ended up not having time to code. Guild Hall provided all the info we needed to wrap up his car, so we'll finish it at home. Day 5 was battle and tweak! Or, in my kid's case, continue 3d printing. I was a little taken aback when we walked in that first day by the small number of campers and that all the camps that week would be run in the same space, but in the end it was perfect. The kids get to learn at their own pace and be nosy and learn about the other camps (my kid interacted a lot with a kid in the game coding camp). If we lived in the Boston area, my kid would 100% do more Guild Hall camps and probably also become a member.

We didn't get any of that. * The first day began with a disorganized, unwelcoming drop-off, unclear supervision and no official check-in process. * My 7 y.o. has been grouped with children substantially younger than the advertised 6-8 age range, to the point where much of the staff's attention was given to the preschool-aged children. We were not made aware of the partnership with the preschool beforehand. * My son spent time downstairs during preschool nap time, expected to remain quiet and occupy himself with foam blocks! * We were told that photos would be posted to the parent portal, to give us insight into what our child is up to, but none have ever appeared. * Most importantly, after 4 days of camp my son has not described any of the advertised STEM activities. His main activity was free play with legos and one free clay-play moment. So basically unprofessional babysitting for $675. We didn't return on the 5th day and have requested a partial refund. So far no response.

These monitors feature something like two dozen different "virtual terrain" selections where you can choose different places in the world where someone runs or bikes while wearing a GoPro camera, providing you with their POV experience of moving through scenic urban areas (Paris, San Francisco, Buenos Aires, etc) as well as stunning natural landscapes (tropical island jungles, desert trails, volcanic beaches, etc). This pretty much takes care of the #1 problem with cardio machines: soul-crushing BOREDOM from being stuck indoors huffing and puffing while going nowhere...in this case, a somewhat claustrophobic-feeling, fluorescent-lit basement gym. But with New England weather being what it is, especially those long dark winters when the sun sets at 4pm on icy/slushy sidewalks, what are you gonna do? Coupled with 5 separate free weight areas, a boxing gym with lots of free hanging bags including two Thai bags, and the highest-temperature sauna I've ever set foot in, this remains the best Y in the greater Boston area. Yeah it's in an old old non-pristine building (the Celtics used to practice in the upstairs basketball court during the 1960s, I've been told) that could use some massive sprucing up, but to be honest I'd rather they just invest in the actual fitness gear like they just did with these $11K treadmills! 4 and 1/2 stars (Deducting 1/2 star only because they continue to refuse to restore their pre-pandemic hours, when they closed at 10pm weeknights and 6pm on weekends.) My child told me that some of the camp counselors were "mean" to the younger girls, speaking to them in sharp tones and with belittling language. As a parent I also encountered some negative attitude from some staff. The program for girls who want to be camp counselors is severely lacking in direction and activities. The program describes that the girls will learn leadership skill and work with younger children. According to my child very little of those goals were fulfilled. Overall this was a waste of time and money, not something we would recommend to friends.
