Before I even had a…read morechance to take in all the beautiful things on the shelves, I was stopped in my tracks by the most incredible scent -- their Folklore candle, glowing in that gorgeous amber jar. I was hooked instantly. Ever since that day, any time I find myself in Dallas, a visit to this shop in the Bishop Arts District is non-negotiable. (And honestly, the Bishop Arts District alone is worth the trip -- charming, walkable, full of character.) But Jackson Vaughn is the anchor. I always leave with something -- whether it's one of their Texas-inspired candles, a numbered scent from their collection, or something beautiful I didn't know I needed until I saw it. When too much time passes between visits, I order online. The holidays especially -- their gifts are the kind that feel both personal and elevated. "Simple Elegance for Gracious Living" isn't just a tagline on their window; it's exactly what this place delivers. If you love thoughtfully curated home goods, beautiful candles, and a shopping experience that actually feels special -- this is your place.

From light and airy to something more dark and romantic, they have it covered. A friend bought a few candles and I'm still waiting to hear from her regarding how they burn however the lady working there said that they stand behind their product and for me that means a lot.

I always try to shop small businesses, but I don't normally come across ones that will make exceptions to their no return policy. Kudos to this business! The item was beautiful and hand-beaded so the quality this store offers was never an issue. I still have an issue with being followed around and being watched like a hawk the entire time I was there. I hope they talk to their employees about how uncomfortable this makes the customers as I would like to come back here if I was back in town.

BEWARE! The items in this store are extremely overpriced and they won't let you return things and…read moredon't have the "All sales final" policy posted anywhere except at the bottom of the receipt. I bought a cape and some shirts and when I got home and tried the items on the chemicals from the factory they were made in caused an allergic reaction (nose running, watery eyes, throat closing up) and my mom had the same reaction as well. The cape did not have a tag that states the materials of the fabric or the country where it was made. It's as if they removed it. When I went to return the items the staff got really worked up and emotional about it and they sent a manager to talk to me and I think she was just told to tell me she wasn't going to refund my items no matter what. (I had receipts, all price tags were attached, and it was within a week of purchase.) I told her I had a reaction to the clothes and she said she wasn't going to question if my reaction was real or not but no one has ever had any problems with their clothes before. Then she asked me "What's the REAL reason you want to return these items???" I said, "They made me sick?!?!" That seems like a reasonable reason to return something. I also told her that if they don't allow returns they should tell people before they buy things. She said I would have known if I would have reviewed the bottom of the receipt. I asked her how seeing the policy on the receipt would have helped me know not to buy the item since you don't get a receipt until after you buy the item. How would that change anything? She goes, "Well, it wouldn't. It' wouldn't matter because you would have already bought it and all sales are final." I asked, "If I asked for a return immediately after being given the receipt and seeing the fine print on the bottom would I have been able to get a refund?" She said no and realized what she was saying did not make any sense. Then said they aren't required to have the policy posted anywhere in the store. I informed her that they absolutely are. By law. Then she said other shops around here don't allow returns and don't have signs posted. I said, "Well that is illegal." She said she didn't know anything about that and wasn't going to look into it. Eventually they agreed to give me store credit and they said the owner would call me and let me know if they decided to refund my money or not but it's been several weeks and I haven't gotten a call. No surprise there. After this experience I never want to buy anything from this store or their other stores (Houss on Bishop and Home on Bishop). **UPDATE** a few days ago I saw the EXACT same cape I purchased from their store for $170 (the item that did not have a factory tag) on amazon for $45. BEWARE OF THIS STORE!!!
