Stay far away from them if you're not in a reasonable service area. They are an insurance claim chaser company and will step all over you to get at your payout. They sent different people out to inspect and provide quotes (gutter and soffits/fascia was the scope requested). I did not ask for a roof assessment but the gutter guy thought it might be eligible for an insurance replacement, so I said sure send the guy on out and let's see what happens. That's where it got really.... interesting. My first appointment was for a Friday. I asked for a specific time so I could manage my work schedule around the inspection. A time was agreed upon. Nobody showed up. I had to initiate contact to find out that they would not be coming that day due to the time/distance. We rescheduled and on the rescheduled date, I reached out early to confirm the time and was told the inspector would be 30min late. I readjusted my work calendar and was notified it would be an additional 15min. This turned out to very much work in my favor. The inspection was very thorough and took about 1.5hr. At the conclusion of the inspection I was told they can convince the insurance company to replace the roof. They showed me what ended up being a contract, but was not presented as such explicitly by name. I was asked to sign before they revealed the "fine print" on the back page - which involved having the insurance company sign the check over to Rex Roofing rather than me (I have USAA). This didn't sit well after discussing with several people and reviewing the fine print. I voided the contract within the 72 hour grace period so I can get a second opinion, gather additional quotes, and control my own insurance payout (if that happens). Instead of responding to me to confirm they received my email (always document in writing! With time stamps!) they forwarded it to the inspector who started texting me asking to "resolve" the situation. I explained, as I had in the email, that I would be taking my insurance payout myself and I requested a "cash price" quote from them. I was then told there was no way my insurance company would approve it without the inspector present, a number of wild assumptions and insinuations were made, and I was essentially berated by text by the salesman for exercising a legal right to void the contract. I had to block his number because he would not stop texting me to mansplain how I had no idea what I was doing as a homeowner and he was the only person who could convince my insurance adjuster to cover the roof. Turns out he was right - they talked me into opening a claim, the adjuster said the roof is perfectly fine and they would replace only one portion of one downspout that had hail damage. I can't tell you how the "value" of this company compares to others because they said they would do the work "for a price agreed upon with the insurance company" without providing a scope of work or any numbers of any kind in writing - so I guess they're not really interested in much besides doing the job for as much as they can squeeze out of the insurance company. I might not have made a USAA claim myself but everyone else in my family has.

The "quality player": I quickly discovered that the player that I had expected to be the high cost/high quality was a huge pain to work with (many meetings, unwillingness to give me pricing in writing, forgetting about details we'd discussed, etc.) so I had no confidence in their ability to do the job at the agreed upon price within the agreed upon time frame. The "cost" player: The good news is that they made it very easy for me to go with Mike L and the Basement Company. He produced great designs, had creative ideas, and alerted me to things to think about when they were cheap & easy to do, instead of having to fix problems later (like add baseboard heaters to basement bedrooms because it can get cold down there and we want our guests to be comfortable). I'm a worrier and a perfectionist (plus a little paranoid about getting hosed by a contractor) and I work from home so I kept watching for something to go wrong, but it never did. On time, on budget, as-promised, with every detail addressed. If something concerned me, I called Mike and it was sorted out easily. When they were close to finished, Mike came over and started marking every imperfection with blue tape. He found LOADS of little things that we never would have noticed. All of the things he spotted were fixed in no time. I was concerned that we would need to haggle over a 'punch list' of things that we wanted him to complete, but it never came to that. All of the workers were professional, kind (remembered my kids's names and even let my boys help a little, when appropriate) and everything was spotless every day! (No dumpster outside, no overflowing garbage cans, no junk in the work area, no dust filling the upstairs, no nasty port-a-potty to annoy my neighbors, etc.). Since my wife and I both work at home (which is part of the reason we wanted to add another office), we were able to watch over a lot of the work, but if I were to do it again someday I would have enough confidence in Mike to just write him a check and stay out of the process until he was done. Mike's a great guy, he's got a great team (not random contractors that come and go...they are people that have worked together for years), he's got his process down (simple, transparent, predictable), plus he was significantly less expensive than his competition. I recommend the Basement Company so enthusiastically that when I saw that they weren't on Yelp, I created an entry for them (I've never done that for anyone before!).

However, on the day of repairs I was informed they couldn't do the crown. Ok, we made an agreement to remove that from scope. The remaining work was completed, but wasn't up to standards. Joe, the owner, agreed and we scheduled follow up work. Furthermore, the caulking they did was cracking literally the next day, but was told 'the painters will take care of it.' The siding was cut crooked, putting it in a position where it would be in contact with water. They fixed it. The flashing was installed effectively open to water ingress, but was fixed on a follow up visit.

I had a terrible experience with American Roofing and Construction company. We bought our house…read morefour years ago and it had T-Lock shingles on it. American Roofing and construction replaced the roof. About a year in, the entire vaulted ceiling where it meets the wall leaked water which ran down the wall and destroyed some of the ceiling plaster, and cracked the drywall tape. I called American Roofing and a few weeks later they came and fixed that part of the roof. The guy said they would send out a drywall and spackling guy to fix the interior, and would send someone out to give an estimate for a gutter. They never called or came back. Another two years go by and now the entire front is doing the same thing, destroying the dry wall and plaster in the ceiling. I have called multiple times (5+ calls between them) and of course, they missed the appointment to fix it no less than three times. When they did arrive, they didn't ask anything, just got up on our roof and started doing things. They left without telling us. I went to look at the roof and could plainly see (photos attached) they had destroyed a significant amount of the siding in the process of fixing the flashing. I called Brian and sent him several photos of the damage. He told me it was because it was rotten and the roofers should have cut back the siding up off the roof and that is why it did that. Only guess what, they are the ones that put the original roof on! Brian then told me "he" would come down personally and get everything fixed. It has been more than a month. (crickets) In that time we got others to come out and look at the damage. Tonight, it rained; I came down to the sitting area only to find water on the floor, wall and ceiling. So even after they "fixed" my roof and tore up the house. It still leaks, Now I have a leaking roof still and busted up siding. We are going to have Greg Unseth do the itemized repairs. We will be billing American Roofing and Construction for the repairs and damages. I don't expect them to do anything about it like they've done thus far. So when they don't pay,....I'll just have to sue them. So be warned, they will eagerly come out and do your roof for you, but just wait until you have to get them to fix their screw ups.
