What stands out even more than the food and drinks, though, is the atmosphere. It's very apparent that the people here care deeply about their work, the space they've created, and the community around them. There's a real sense of intention and care here that goes beyond just being a great coffee shop. As someone who recently moved to Portland, places like this are exactly why I wanted to be here. Great food, great beverages, and the kind of community-minded space that makes a neighborhood feel special. I'm so glad I found it.

We stopped in here after playing a round at the Wonderwood Mini Golf. It had been hot and cramped and we really needed a drink. The door was being held open by a line of people and usually that is a great sign. Being busy is awesome for the business and I am glad they are so popular. It was a weekday, probably around 11 am and there were just so many people in line. It was really cute inside but SO chaotic. There were tons of kids screaming and at times it was difficult to tell where the line really was. After about 5 minutes of the line not moving, I started to get a slight headache from the noise and we agreed we would have to go somewhere else. It was probably for the best as all the indoor and outdoor seating was full so there would have been nowhere for us to eat even if we had braved the line. I think when a business reaches this level of popularity, it's important to put systems in place to keep patrons from feeling crowded and overwhelmed and it's definitely something they might want to look into in the future.

A few weeks ago, I did just that, and saw a ton of riders here, enjoying the nice weather. Then, like 2 weeks ago I came here on Sunday and there was a homeless guy asleep in the corner and the most unfriendly barista I've ever met that gave me this attitude, like "we don't serve your kind here." So wait.. you don't like paying customers who aren't as miserable as you? Yeah. Pretty bad. So I'm giving it a 3-star review because on sunny days it's nice to get out and come here to St. John and see some different faces/riders. On crappy days, though? Not so much.
