I have to be honest, it's REALLY hit or miss here. As a motorcycle rider I sometimes like to come here and veg out. A few weeks ago, I did just that, and saw a ton of riders here, enjoying the nice weather. Then, like 2 weeks ago I came here on Sunday and there was a homeless guy asleep in the corner and the most unfriendly barista I've ever met that gave me this attitude, like "we don't serve your kind here." So wait.. you don't like paying customers who aren't as miserable as you? Yeah. Pretty bad. So I'm giving it a 3-star review because on sunny days it's nice to get out and come here to St. John and see some different faces/riders. On crappy days, though? Not so much. read more

Nestled in St. John's is a motorcycle-themed coffee shop called Two Stroke. The space is large, with plenty of seating options, making it a comfortable spot to hang out. If you're visiting in the winter, I highly recommend the Nova Spice Latte (12 oz) -- no substitute milk, add cinnamon (a staff tip). Trust me. The interior is spacious and has lots of seating. It would make a great place for studying or chatting with friends. I got the Toucan Slam Matcha and it is yummy. There were some clumps of matcha at the bottom but it was still very flavorful and delicious with the coconut milk. read more

Locals' coffee shop. Kids and furry kids (aka doggies) are all welcome. It is cute to see dogs who have been here before beeline to the doggy treat jar on the counter. Free WiFi, great coffee and breakfast food options, and even offer a bottomless coffee for those choosing to stay. Great spot to relax, and study while watching the parade of dogs and locals. Staff is friendly, helpful to offer options and suggest items not on the menu (bottomless coffee). This place is hopping on the weekends so be prepared to talk a little louder. two grown men working there stared at me as i came in without saying anything and one of those guys would peer out from the back to see if i was still at reg (i was) and not taking my order, still just observing. it was as if they wanted me to leave (i shouldve) i waited while the barista was breaking his back making a macchiato God forbid i break his flow..lattes on the menu looked good and i wanted to try the one eyed jack but when he finally got to me it was just a flat "what do you want". it was a slow friday morning, i was the only person waiting??? and i didnt say nothing to warrant that lol but alright! this is how yall run things i wanted to give this guy the benefit of the doubt but starting our interaction like that just made me decide to get a basic drip coffee because i did not want to stay any longer to wait for him to even pull a shot. also the hand off was plain rude. dude just plopped it in front and walked off. bro i dont even know you and this is my first impression? even me saying thank you despite all that bull felt like i was intruding in their space lol read more

Rude service, lousy lukewarm coffee, $4.00 to have the cup filled two-thirds of the way, and the person working the counter seems to be amusing themself by being deliberately rude. Mid afternoon on a weekday, with most of the tables empty: who are you trying to impress, and to what conceivable end? If the coffee, or the location, or the food, or the decor, or the personnel, or whatever, was somehow extra desirable, or if the shop was in Monaco, or St. Moritz, by all means, treat people rudely. Easy to see why the place is rundown and mostly empty. Luckily Portland has plenty of better options. read more

Fantastic, friendly service and a great, unique atmosphere! I've been a fan of this place since stumbling into their old location further West on Lombard. A very Limited nice, but not overwhelming selection of baked goods in including a choice of bagels. For tea drinkers, they actually hand bag looseleaf tea to order! There's also a great community vibe highlighted by a counter with an orderly arrangement of community events. This is a true coffee shop with its own individual character. If you're looking for a sterile, cookie cutter Starbucks type coffee shop, you will be sorely disappointed. Not only is this simple, avocado toast delicious - good bread, toasted perfectly, avocados sliced uniformly and at the perfect ripeness with a lovely pepper flake dusting, it was presented beautifully in my to go box. The fresh strawberry garnish was the icing on the cake. The coffee was pretty dang good too! read more

My partner and I go to Two Stroke every weekend and spend about an hour here drinking our coffee, people watching, reading, etc. The coffee tastes great and is well priced. If you don't get a table with a regular chair you're in for some discomfort- we find their barstools unbearable. They're never too crowded which is great, they do allow dogs inside which can make it pretty loud. The decor is awesome, staff is friendly enough, coffee is delicious... we'll keep going back! read more

This place is always our go to place when we visit our son in Portland Oregon. The coffee is amazing so smooth and delicious and the staff is always friendly and welcoming and the baked goods are delicious. I always enjoy something different when we visit. This time we had a chocolate chip cookie and it was delicious. Highly recommend this place. We will miss it now that we are back home. read more

Really cool space to check out whether or not you're into motorcycles! We passed by the other day but it was already closed so it was great to see them open at 7am on a Friday and we really got to check out the space before it got crowded. Really modern/industrial decor with cool art work and merch for sale around the place like mugs, beanies, and shirts. Love the wood in the space and the big window in the front to enjoy your morning brew as you watch the sun rise. Don't forget to check out their version of the Mona Lisa before you head out the door. Good coffee, nice people, easy parking, dirty bathroom. The state of the bathroom def makes me question the food safety practices they may or may not have. Got the breakfast sandwich with the rustic bread (gave me two vastly different sized slices of bread to make the sandwich), was tasty, standard sandwich. My partner got the one with English muffin, solid, looked really greasy tho. We both got the vanilla lavender latte (iced) very good, his with whole milk mine with oat, both tasted great. It's nice and quiet and spread out and cool (literally and metaphorically). Nifty bikes and stuff, cool merch, but the tshirts looked and felt super cheaply made but were costly. Overall when I return to Portland I will go back there for coffee, but will avoid the bathroom if possible. read more

St. Johns as a few cute coffee shops but Two Stroke is probably my favorite! I've been there a few times and have tried a variety of options and they've all been fantastic! I'm typically a basic latte or cappuccino type of girl, but their specialty options are pretty darn good! My favorite is the "One Eyed Jack" and I order it half as sweet as it typically comes. It's honey and almond deliciousness and super good hot or iced! Also a big fan of their vanilla latte. The vibe is cool. Think motorcycle club meets hipster coffee shop. I have patiently been waiting for this shop to open since I moved to St Johns over a year ago! During covid they were offering deliveries of coffee and shoofly vegan pastries which was great. But now they're open and it's legit the best perfect hangout space! The decor is perfect and I already sent this shop to my Bike Riding aunt on the east coast and she can't wait to visit. I ordered the Slow Ride (a lavender latte) iced and it was perfection! Lavender lattes can either be horrible or wonderful and this was definitely wonderful. The wait was a little bit, maybe like 15 mins, which I didn't mind at all. It let me take in the sights and sounds of the coffee shop that I've been missing for the past year. But I say this so you don't come in on a busy Saturday morning expecting to be in and out and then getting grouchy when you're not. In my opinion the wait was 100% worth it. I even had a vendor at the St Johns Farmers Market stop me and ask where I got my latte from. I wish this shop much success! I come here fairly often while I wait for my partner to get his hair done. The people working usually aren't very engaged with the customers and the coffee is fine, so it's not a place that ever leaves much of an impression on me, good or bad. read more

Overall I like Two Stroke. I love that they carry soy milk, and hand whisk their matchas, while many others pre-mix a bottle of liquid matcha at the start of the day. There are a couple inconsistencies that sometimes make me question whether to go to 2S, or any of the other cafes within a few blocks. Most of the baristas are friendly, while one in particular always seems bothered to be there. Sometimes my matcha latte is balanced, sometimes the bottom of my cup is filled with matcha paste or thick globs of unwhisked tea. Sometimes the milk is hot and creamy, and sometimes just warm and flat. At times I get nice latte art - the touch of a proud barista. Other times I watch the barista dump in the milk in a hurry. Unfortunately, it all costs the same to me, which makes going to 2S kinda a gamble. read more

Two Stroke is such a gem in St John's. I was a huge fan of the previous location and think they've done a great job of preserving it in the new space. When I went on a Sunday morning around 8am, there was no line. The staff were super friendly and the coffee was strong! They accept Apple Pay and have plenty of seasonal specials, along with vegan and non-vegan pastries and other small meals. Gender neutral bathroom. Free wifi. Loyalty card. My husband and I had a really nice experience when we happened into this coffee place the other day. The owner was friendly and welcoming. We picked up some beans in addition to our coffees. Both the coffees we had were very good and the beans we purchased were also high quality. They are not over roasted (as you often see), and they are fresh (ours were roasted the day before we purchased). We will definitely be back! read more
