Cute spot for tea. This is especially great if you want to try a brew of some of the more expensive Smith teas without committing to the full amount of loose leaf. Some of their teas can be quite pricey. Keep in mind you can also order all these teas online, as well. I tried the barrel aged tea flight and it was nice, although next time I might skip it and just get regular cups. The presentation is nice, but it's a bummer you don't get to keep the cards or get any sort of take home thing. I ended up getting a couple more cups of just regular premium tea. The Garden Party was especially delicious. I only tried the regular tea so I can't comment on the tea drinks. Also seating is limited in here. No one responded, but I was (presumably) auto-subscribed to their marketing email list. So here is my post blasting Smith Tea: fix your crappy customer service. PS. Smith Teamaker on 23rd is such a cute spot. The shop display is always beautiful, and the music selection is calming and nice. It's the perfect place for a solo tea break or a quiet tea time with friends. They offer a small selection of snacks like scones and breads, and there are plenty of tea options, from classic blends to seasonal specials. I love their different tea blends. Today I attended one of their events for a wreath-making workshop, which was a lovely experience. The staff were so sweet and helpful, and combining wreath making with tea tasting was such a wonderful idea. I'd love to come here more often for solo tea time. The staff members were very friendly and helpful. They have a wide selection of some very nice blends of teas. I purchased the little canvas bag of six different tea sachets (masala chai, ginger rising, golden light, dandy detox, rose city genmaicha, and soothesayer). A cute mix of store and cafe. There are areas to buy the tea leaves and small sample containers so customers can smell the different teas. For the cafe portion, there are many different tea options that customers can choose from. The indoor and outdoor seating is also convenient. I should also note that the outdoor seating has heaters my friend and I weren't freezing while drinking our tea. I had a matcha latte and my friend had black lavender fog. We both enjoyed our drinks. However, at the end of the day for me, the lattes were well made but not something I would purposefully seek out. The people who served us were also lovely and helpful. I will say though, if you are visiting and a tea person, that you should at least check it out once as there is a large variety of teas and they have some limited edition teas that I haven't seen elsewhere. If you're not one of the millions of people that run on coffee and prefer tea, this tea shop has an amazing selection of drinks and tea products. The shop is cozy with tables for relaxing with a cup of tea or doing some work. It was quiet when I visited on Thursday afternoon, almost too quiet. There was soft music playing in the background, but I would've preferred it to be a little louder as I felt our conversations could be heard by everyone around us. The girl working there was friendly and offered some helpful suggestions. But I already had my sights set on their S'mores & Tea Flight ($15). It featured three s'mores made with different kinds of tea-infused marshmallow fluff and paired with hot teas. It was very unique and the presentation was cute. You can tell their teas are high quality from the aroma and taste. I really enjoyed the Jasmine Silver Tip and bought tea bags ($12.99) to take home as well as some Golden Light ($13.99). Since I had the flight, I was given 10% off which was nice. Tea can be boring, but they make it exciting by offering things like flights and teas on tap. They also have seasonal flavors that rotate. My friends and I came here to kill some time in the middle of a hot day a couple weeks ago, and it was a really fun Portland experience. We got 2 tea flights to share between people (each flight has 3 teas) and total was $28.23. Pros: - Pretty tasty tea! And a very wide selection of different kinds ranging in bitterness and darkness. I like the flights because they give you a little card telling you where the tea is from, fun facts, etc. We did a white tea, jasmine pearls, 2 oolongs, black lavender, and "Shu cha pu-erh," a fermented Chinese black tea. In general, we loved all our choices and each had our favorites. They gave us little shot glasses to share the tea in. - Really nice service, the guy helping us out was very patient with us while we chose our tea flight, and gave us good advice/tips. We did have one funny moment though where he said the fermented Chinese black tea is "very different" from regular teas, and that it might be darker/more bitter than we're used to. When it came out, it actually tasted just like the Chinese tea served at some dim sum places hahah right up our alley. But thank you kind white guy! - Really nice AC inside, clean bathroom, cute seating. Not a ton of space, but good enough to fit 3 small parties. It's definitely a nice place to kill time and just sit for a long chat. They also have other drinks there too if you want to buy a personal one for yourself. - The tea was warm but not too scalding hot, which I liked. I asked if I could have vanilla in my matcha and they said no, stating it was for a specific drink only. The Smith Tea shops, and all around brand, are probably one of my favorite. However, at times the service and wait times are a bit inconsistent. Meaning, sometimes I feel like I'll wait forever to get my tea, and other times it's perfect. I personally recommend the Oolong and White teas. They also have a caffeine free tea called, "Soothesayer" which is great too! If you're up for an adventure make sure to check out, what I think is their corporate headquarters, on the east side and order their flight of teas! All in all, a great, laidback atmosphere and cool place to get some work done, meet your Bumble date at, or to stop in in-between running your errands or browsing the trendy shops up and down 23rd. Just make sure to bring your wallet and a smile. Order anything more than a tea and a pastry and by the time you get home, you'll scratch your head wondering "where did all my money go?" My guess? This is the perfect location for a gaggle of gals to swoop in for a spot of tea on a sunny Sunday morning before heading out to wine country. Not being much of a tea aficionado I always end up with chai as it's the closest tea beverage that I can get to resemble a coffee drink. This particular chai beverage wasn't amazing or anything. I feel like it could have been creamier, spicier, rocher, these are all standard qualities in any chai I've loved before. It sure looks pretty in the picture. The gals, all of them, they got an individual teapot and they asked for a whole bunch of extra teacups so they could sample each other's tea. Very nice new location. The interior is great for a date or working. Seems like things are still settling down so service could be better, which I'm sure they will! More of a grab-and-go and fast pace atmosphere here and some of the options are different from the tasting room on the East side. Their flights here are fixed and not able to pick like on the East side. We tried the Wellness Flight with three herbal teas. All of which are very unique and different from one another. I've been waiting for this cafe to open, as I love what the chef here did at Park Avenue Wines! This is a perfect place for a light but filling lunch. I went with a group of my friends and we all didn't think we'd get full (one had even made plans to get pizza afterward), but we did, and everything is healthy, tasty, and beautifully presented. I got an iced lavender London Fog, which was great on a 95 degree day. I'd personally prefer for it to be stronger, but it had a good but not overpowering lavender flavor. I was disappointed they don't have the nitro tea on tap, which was on the website, as I really love it at their SE location. I ordered the Rainbow Carrots & Barley bowl. It was perfectly dressed, fresh, and had a lot of fun components. I liked the soft cheese smeared on the side, as well as fresh and roasted carrots. And the citrus (looked like grapefruit but was sweet) added a perfect amount of sweetness & tartness! All of my friends' bowls were gorgeous. They have outdoor sidewalk seating, all are 2 tops but easily moveable. Smith is known for their artful blended teas. The tea menu today covers varieties of white, black, green, oolong, pu-erh and herbal teas with no caffeine. They are also pursuing wellness blends, apropos, plants were our first medicinals. The inside is clean and modern with warm woods, and there is outdoor cafe seating on the sidewalk. The interior is by local interior architects Osmose Design which is also charting a national reputation. The interior has shades of grey against pale English green and white oak counters and shelves. The food is mostly vegan, and gluten-free. They have mixed tea into the ingredients, but there is not a strong taste of tea in them. The Smith bowl is lovely, with lemony multi-colored quinoa, nuts and fresh apple slices. There are two tables inside which could seat a group, and interior and window counter seating on cork covered stools. It's a great stop for a light meal with a breakfast-lunch menu served all day. This is still our favorite tea spot and place to share with friends. We went in for tea and a friend got a marionberry pop tart. I asked to steal a bite and it's unlike any pop tart strudel type thing we'd ever had. It's so flaky with marionberry jam on the center and the frosting was the perfect amount of sweet. It was at peak sweet before becoming too sweet. I got a black London fog and they got darjeeling and lord bergamot teas. I was hoping to get more of the lord bergamot hand lotion but they're out until they have a manufacturing agreement down (I don't remember exactly how it was worded). First things first, I am in love with their everything "bagel". When I ordered it the cashier said that its not technically a bagel because it's better than one. She was not wrong, that was the best everything "bagel" I've ever had. I wish I ordered one for myself instead of sharing it with my boyfriend ugh. I love the soft bread and the roasted tomatoes right ontop. We also ordered matcha lattes and they were sooo good!
