Very highly recommended! I stopped in this past Thursday without an appointment, looking to pinpoint an exhaust system rattling and vibration at idle/low speed. Howard moved my car onto the rack and quickly showed me the source of the problem: a loose heat shield and a crack near the muffler. He gave me a fair estimate and his son started on the repairs. I have a 1970 Mustang Boos 302 that won "Best of Show" in the Vintage Mustang Owners Assocication 2023 show. The car is pretty much done except for the exhaust system. My good friend who also owns a 70" Boss had taken his here a few years back and he saved his exhaust system and was giving it to me. He insisted I drive down from San Jose to have Howard at All American Muffler do the work. After setting the appointment we arrived and he was ready to start. He replace the whole exhaust and what I love most he enjoyed what he was doing. He knew his trade and set up the car beautifully. The price was fair and worth the drive down from San Jose to have someone that you can trust. Obviously, it's fun to have the thumbs up sign on the hour drive to and from Salinas. I stopped by and listening to my Audi A6 S line Quattro he immediately new what it was. I also due to its symptoms thought it was my flex's pipe. I bottomed out because of the roads in Pacific Grove and there unevenness. When I arrived for my appointment time. We put it up on the hydraulic lift and kept it running my right side flex's pipe was sheared off in a clean break. My left was not damaged. And everything else looked great. Howard is a lifesaver !! My poor planning lead me to showing up @ All American Muffler, 8am on a Monday morning with truck/trailer, with Howard NOT expecting me. I explained to him my situation, I had a tune appointment at 2pm and need a V-Band flange welded to my mid pipe. Howard  squeezed me in with no hesitantation, even though a 3 hour job was on his schedule that morning. His craftsmanship alone deserves 5 stars, let alone his amazing customer service. After having my catalytic converter stolen on my RV I met with Howard as to what to do next. I was able to get a good deal on the correct converter thru an online source. He was happy to install it for me even though I did not purchase from him. Made appointment in advance and he got right to it when I arrived. Hour later my machine was purring again. I had a check engine light on and a smog check due soon. My car scanner reported a P0420 code. I was recommended to American Muffler by an auto shop that did my brakes. Upon calling American Muffler, Howard answered the phone. He patiently answered my many questions (over 3 different phone calls). I called numerous other auto shops to compare rates and services as best I could (as I knew a P0420 code can be an expensive fix that makes you consider buying a new car when you drive a 2006 with 210,000 miles). I decided to trust my car to American Muffler due to their 5 star reviews and Howard's patience. I'm glad I did! When I brought my car into American Muffler, Howard made sure that it was not an exhaust leak causing the code, but in fact due to a bad catalytic converter. He then replaced my catalytic converter in a timely manner for a very reasonable price. My check engine light is no longer on and I was able to pass smog. Howard is honest, professional and a gem. You have to respect a man who takes care of your car service from beginning to end, answering your questions, scheduling your appointment, working on your car and finally writing the receipt. Well , I was told this was a great place and Howard was a great guy and I had hoped to give 5 star review and never have to look for another shop. Nope-nope-nope. If all I was reviewing was the quality of Howard's work I'd give five stars. But--- my experience with this place was not good at all. It wasactually pretty stressful at times..car was in the shop for three months. Whenever it was supposed to be picked up there was an excuse ...that a part didn't come in, or a mechanic didn't show up.. the mechanic that was working on my car left /quit the shop halfway thRough the job. Get this.. my car is a classic- 54 chevy. You'd think that since He owns a classic, he'd treat another classic like I it was his. When I fInally went to pick it up 'again' They couldnt find my key- (original 1954 key) and so they madE me another. I left the carb there until they got the key made. I was so mad I had to wait until my attitude softened to even go back. . Then on the way home I noticed my drivers side rearview mirror is gone. What the heck?. How unprofessional to lose a customers key - to my bucket list toy-- and to let an aftermarket mirror get taken off a classic. This review is spot on. -And Howard is a nice guy ...but I don't think he'd be happy if he took his car to a shop and paid 3 grand and they lose his key and his mirror. So I probably won't go back for any work, and I definitely wouLd not recommend All American Muffler to anyone I considered a friend. I spent a lot of money only to be disgusted with the lack of care and respect for my vehicle. A shop should be 100% responsible for cars (and keys) leFt in their care . All in all- it did not end well. Sorry bout the lousy review Howard- but your shop earned it. I've never dropped 3k in a shop before. I expected to be gratified and satisfied when I picked up my car. Not even close. For that kinda money you're supposed to be as excited about my car as I am. And then to brush off the fact that my key was lost -- it's just not right. Trust and believe that had the shop done what it was supposed too , I would have written an A++ review . Instead All American gets a D. I was polite the three or four times I was called to get my car and then get there and it's not ready. I wonder how many other customers have had this kinda service. Add to this I was charged for a wiring harness with a fuse box $400 that was never installed. And I'm not even sure this is a licensed shop. All bad. read more

Got a catalytic replacement on my truck. Howard was great at helping diagnose which catalytic was bad (4 on my truck) and didn't upsell overhauling all 4 CATs and O2 sensors. I was able to pass smog. Highly recommend. read more

We are new to the area and needed to have our RV exhaust system repaired so that we could then smog the RV. Howard was friendly, very knowledgeable, and got us in right away. He showed us the old exhaust pipe collars and how they wore down in just 3 years/ 10K miles. I love these guys. I needed to quiet my car for a 90dB track day at Laguna Seca. I made an appointment on the phone with a knowledgeable guy named Howard. Upon arrival I was greeted by a young man who was Howard's son. We chatted a bit as he finished a brake job and we put my car on the lift. Howard said he thought my car was quiet enough. He said the others he'd helped with meeting sound at this track had much louder cars. Then he quickly fashioned me a c-shape extension from scrap. Just in case. When I tried to pay him he refused.
