My exhaust was rattling and it was fixed up quickly and for a good price! Highly recommend

Howard was one of the most understanding mechanic. Went to Laguna seca and my exhaust fell off, brought it to Howard and he was not only able to put it back on but some of the sounds I had previously were gone. I came from SoCal so had to drive back 500 miles and Howard was able to squeeze me in so I could be on my way home. Thanks again Howard, really appreciate it! read more

I just had my old muffler (Flowmaster) taken off my truck and brought back to the stock muffler system. Oh my! What a difference. I can now hear myself think and listen to my music! Thank you Howard for making this happen. Great work and very reasonable. I don't know why I didn't do this 4 years ago. Great shop and Howard is friendly and informative. I also love his mustang! read more

Very highly recommended! I stopped in this past Thursday without an appointment, looking to pinpoint an exhaust system rattling and vibration at idle/low speed. Howard moved my car onto the rack and quickly showed me the source of the problem: a loose heat shield and a crack near the muffler. He gave me a fair estimate and his son started on the repairs. Less than an hour later I was back on the road, my overall expectations greatly exceeded. It's a shame that this level of friendly, personal, and high quality service is now the exception and not the norm. read more

All American Muffler - New muffler in place (not visible: tack-welded repairs to the heat shield) - Auto Repair Near Me - Salinas, California

I have a 1970 Mustang Boos 302 that won "Best of Show" in the Vintage Mustang Owners Assocication 2023 show. The car is pretty much done except for the exhaust system. My good friend who also owns a 70" Boss had taken his here a few years back and he saved his exhaust system and was giving it to me. He insisted I drive down from San Jose to have Howard at All American Muffler do the work. After setting the appointment we arrived and he was ready to start. He replace the whole exhaust and what I love most he enjoyed what he was doing. He knew his trade and set up the car beautifully. The price was fair and worth the drive down from San Jose to have someone that you can trust. Obviously, it's fun to have the thumbs up sign on the hour drive to and from Salinas. I will refer all my classic cars friends to use All Ameican Muffler. I enclosed the pictures, but took mostly videos because the car now sounds incredble. Thanks Howard! read more

I stopped by and listening to my Audi A6 S line Quattro he immediately new what it was. I also due to its symptoms thought it was my flex's pipe. I bottomed out because of the roads in Pacific Grove and there unevenness. When I arrived for my appointment time. We put it up on the hydraulic lift and kept it running my right side flex's pipe was sheared off in a clean break. My left was not damaged. And everything else looked great. It only cost parts and labor $207. Howard and his exhaust specialists did an awesome job. Super Friendly, efficient and solved my issue. I highly recommend this business for any exhaust work or anything else they specialize in read more

Howard was great to work with. He helped dial in my exhaust and tune the carburetor on my classic Mustang. Very reasonably priced too.

Just took him my newest blazer build so he can do the exhaust and he got it done! His work is quality work and I feel he's fairly priced for the quality work he does! I won't take my cars anywhere else!!! Thanks Howard for the quality work!!!! read more

Harold the owner is great. I was actually referred to him by another shop that wouldn't do the work because I didn't buy the parts from them. Their loss, my gain. I showed up early, but he still pulled the truck he was working on off the rack and had me pull in. The job was pretty straightforward and he knocked it out in about an hour. His prices are very fair and I'm already planning the next installation. I'll send friends and neighbors to him for sure. Thanks Howard, I'll see you again soon, sir. read more

Quick, thorough service. Very competent. Easy to schedule. Very knowledgeable. High quality work.

I highly recommend this muffler shop. My son and I took his 96 Dodge Ram to get straight piped. Not only was the work so clean and was done by the end of day. Superb service. Also, we stopped in on a separate occasion with no appointment and fortunately Howard was able to make my son a muffler for his Honda dirt bike. He Jumped right on it, worked his magic and made the muffler and we were out of there like in 10 minutes!!! Wow. Again, really impressed. Highly recommend these guys. read more

My brother in-law highly recommended this place. I took my car thinking it needed a catalytic converter and a new muffler. The owner put it on the car lift and saved me over $1000.00. He's an honest man as far as I can tell. When the time comes to replace those parts I'll be going back to All American Muffler. read more

My niece was looking for a shop that can install a catalytic converter shield and All American muffler was responsive but also offered a good price for labor. Definitely a business you should support! He gave recommendations on smog and adjusted the muffler with no additional charge since another shop didn't do a good job. Thank you! read more

Howard is a lifesaver !! My poor planning lead me to showing up @ All American Muffler, 8am on a Monday morning with truck/trailer, with Howard NOT expecting me. I explained to him my situation, I had a tune appointment at 2pm and need a V-Band flange welded to my mid pipe. Howard  squeezed me in with no hesitantation, even though a 3 hour job was on his schedule that morning. His craftsmanship alone deserves 5 stars, let alone his amazing customer service. All American is levels above any "exhaust shop" in the tri County. This one man shop is proud of the work they sound out and most importantly Howard is  car enthusiast. He just knows his craft. Zero worries when my car is at AAM. Everyone in town knows Howard for his quality of work, and I suggest you make an appointment and find out for yourself ! read more

Been going to this place over 20 years through 2 owners is the only muffler shop you need.

The shield that goes around my stock muffler on my 05 Tahoe busted so I called All American Muffler and set up an appointment. I dropped my car off in the morning and picked it up at noon. I had him put a Flowmaster 50 series installed, it sounds amazing. Fast friendly service. Highly recommend. read more

Amazing job, great guy who knows what he's talking about without charging an arm and leg

Well , I was told this was a great place and Howard was a great guy and I had hoped to give 5 star review and never have to look for another shop. Nope-nope-nope. If all I was reviewing was the quality of Howard's work I'd give five stars. But--- my experience with this place was not good at all. It wasactually pretty stressful at times..car was in the shop for three months. Whenever it was supposed to be picked up there was an excuse ...that a part didn't come in, or a mechanic didn't show up.. the mechanic that was working on my car left /quit the shop halfway thRough the job. Get this.. my car is a classic- 54 chevy. You'd think that since He owns a classic, he'd treat another classic like I it was his. When I fInally went to pick it up 'again' They couldnt find my key- (original 1954 key) and so they madE me another. I left the carb there until they got the key made. I was so mad I had to wait until my attitude softened to even go back. . Then on the way home I noticed my drivers side rearview mirror is gone. What the heck?. How unprofessional to lose a customers key - to my bucket list toy-- and to let an aftermarket mirror get taken off a classic. This review is spot on. -And Howard is a nice guy ...but I don't think he'd be happy if he took his car to a shop and paid 3 grand and they lose his key and his mirror. So I probably won't go back for any work, and I definitely wouLd not recommend All American Muffler to anyone I considered a friend. I spent a lot of money only to be disgusted with the lack of care and respect for my vehicle. A shop should be 100% responsible for cars (and keys) leFt in their care . All in all- it did not end well. Sorry bout the lousy review Howard- but your shop earned it. I've never dropped 3k in a shop before. I expected to be gratified and satisfied when I picked up my car. Not even close. For that kinda money you're supposed to be as excited about my car as I am. And then to brush off the fact that my key was lost -- it's just not right. Trust and believe that had the shop done what it was supposed too , I would have written an A++ review . Instead All American gets a D. I was polite the three or four times I was called to get my car and then get there and it's not ready. I wonder how many other customers have had this kinda service. Add to this I was charged for a wiring harness with a fuse box $400 that was never installed. And I'm not even sure this is a licensed shop. All bad. read more

After having my catalytic converter stolen on my RV I met with Howard as to what to do next. I was able to get a good deal on the correct converter thru an online source. He was happy to install it for me even though I did not purchase from him. Made appointment in advance and he got right to it when I arrived. Hour later my machine was purring again. He is very professional and will always give you the straight answer. One of the best merchants in town and widely known for his proffesional work. Will highly recommend to anyone who asks. Got a catalytic replacement on my truck. Howard was great at helping diagnose which catalytic was bad (4 on my truck) and didn't upsell overhauling all 4 CATs and O2 sensors. I was able to pass smog. Highly recommend. read more

I had a check engine light on and a smog check due soon. My car scanner reported a P0420 code. I was recommended to American Muffler by an auto shop that did my brakes. Upon calling American Muffler, Howard answered the phone. He patiently answered my many questions (over 3 different phone calls). I called numerous other auto shops to compare rates and services as best I could (as I knew a P0420 code can be an expensive fix that makes you consider buying a new car when you drive a 2006 with 210,000 miles). I decided to trust my car to American Muffler due to their 5 star reviews and Howard's patience. I'm glad I did! When I brought my car into American Muffler, Howard made sure that it was not an exhaust leak causing the code, but in fact due to a bad catalytic converter. He then replaced my catalytic converter in a timely manner for a very reasonable price. My check engine light is no longer on and I was able to pass smog. Howard is honest, professional and a gem. You have to respect a man who takes care of your car service from beginning to end, answering your questions, scheduling your appointment, working on your car and finally writing the receipt. I'm happy to be driving my oldie but goodie! I will trust my car with Howard on any service he can offer! read more

I've been to All-American Muffler at least 5 times in the past few years for my variety of project cars. We are new to the area and needed to have our RV exhaust system repaired so that we could then smog the RV. Howard was friendly, very knowledgeable, and got us in right away. He showed us the old exhaust pipe collars and how they wore down in just 3 years/ 10K miles. He replaced the two collars with a higher quality product so that we we can travel many more miles before this happens again. His pricing was extremely fair. We were very pleased with Howard and his work; he is an upfront and honest person. We would not hesitate to do more repair work at All American Muffler! read more

I love these guys. I needed to quiet my car for a 90dB track day at Laguna Seca. I made an appointment on the phone with a knowledgeable guy named Howard. Upon arrival I was greeted by a young man who was Howard's son. We chatted a bit as he finished a brake job and we put my car on the lift. Howard said he thought my car was quiet enough. He said the others he'd helped with meeting sound at this track had much louder cars. Then he quickly fashioned me a c-shape extension from scrap. Just in case. When I tried to pay him he refused. He would even let me buy him lunch. He was really in to my old car and the whole shop joined in a really nice conversation. What a friendly bunch of guys. read more
