Man, I used to frequent this place for years every time I stopped in the desert on my way to Blythe or working in Palm desert since 2008. The Philly Mexicanos is still great size and flavor, but the other two were very disappointing in size and taste. the meat was expired (had a fruity alcoholic flavor) and wasn't as large as it used to be. Hope this was a bad day cause I loved coming here.

Great cheap and quick eats. Dine right inside the market. Quesabirria tacos look even better than the deluxe Philly cheesecakes. Support local businesses!

First time here and got the Filipino dishes! It was all tasty! My family even came back! The service was great! The ambiance was more like fast food style. We got the tapsilog, basilog, lechon kawali, & halo halo for dessert!

Came back to the valley after 5 years away for a visit and had to hit up some old spots. Alko Bar didn't disappoint.

Pretty decent place to get a Philly Cheese Steak or some loaded fries! I was in the Palm Dessert area and needed something for lunch. I was surprised to see that this place was somewhat like a 7-11 on the inside but with a kitchen that served a bunch of quick foods like cheese burgers, burritos, and salads. I opted for the Philly Cheese Steak since I saw so many reviews about it! It was pretty good, but the meat was not very flavorful. The cheese definitely gave it more flavor, but the meat by itself was pretty bland. I needed to add some salt on there. The bread was pretty good and a bit chewy. There were A LOT OF ONIONS, a bit too much for my liking. Overall, I'll probably be back, but I'll try a different variety of the Philly Steak.

It's been a few years since I last came back. The food is still solid and fir. Prices slightly high but speaking to the owner costs are up. I thought the fries were a little soft. The onion rings are fair but that's just a preference on batter type. I think this place is a hidden gem within the area. Hope to be back and try the place out again.

Great hidden spot. I spent a few years on the east coast and finding a good cheesesteak in California is not easy.

Absolutely love this place. Best cheesesteaks in Palm Springs hands down. Possibly even LA too.

Ordered the New York style hot pastrami on rye with coleslaw and a Dr. Brown's Cream Soda. The pastrami was the highlight. Piled high, tender, and full of that classic deli flavor with just the right amount of richness. The rye bread held everything together well and had a nice bite to it. It's the kind of sandwich you have to take a second to look at before figuring out how to eat it. The coleslaw was fresh and crisp, a good balance to the sandwich, and the cream soda was cold and refreshing. Also ordered a slice of pistachio cake to go. Absolutely delicious. The place has that old school deli feel, busy but in a good way, and full of character. Service was friendly and efficient even with the crowd. Definitely a spot worth stopping at if you're in Palm Desert and want a proper deli sandwich.

Got it with cole slaw instead of sauerkraut. Top notch. Soup and sandwich were both excellent. I went with the Club. Solid. Daughter also grabbed the strawberry shortcake. This was just ok. Service was good and pricing is fair. They have the same stuff as the larger Palm Springs location. Small parking lot. Bakery counter. Good stuff.

Some people ask, do you like steak fries? Skinny fries? Waffle fries? My new answer is: I LOVE SHERMAN FRIES. I've never had anything like them. They're like air puffed ruffles with the perfect crisp! YUP! The service was on point and they kindly offer pickles to start! It is a restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, and simple ambiance. Good luck getting a few feet past entering, without marveling at the bakery items - cookies, cakes, everything delectable! During our visit we had the bbq brisket, summer delight salad (SO MANY FRUITS) and patty melt (asked to sub it on a Kaiser roll). Everything, 5 stars!

However, we did not realize the emphasis on a Jewish menu until after we were seated . . . lox, blech, gefilte fish, yuk . . . so we kindly apologized and were about to stand up and leave. A very nice and understanding waiter began rattling off more traditional food item suggestions that certainly sounded good. I am glad he did. Their food is fresh, plentiful when it comes to serving size and ingredients (see the attached photo of the sandwich I got) and their service is prompt and attentive. We did not get any baked goods, but they also sure looked good as we walked by the display on the way out. It has a comfortable, open and well lit atmosphere. We are very glad we decided to stay.

It's tucked in a nondescript office park with plenty of parking. They were busy when we arrived, so we had a short wait, which told me it's a popular spot. I ordered the California sandwich: turkey, avocado, lettuce, tomato, mayo, and sprouts on sourdough, with added cheddar, mustard, and jalapenos ($14.95 plus $1.50 for the cheddar). It was fantastic. My son ordered the same with a few tweaks and loved his as well. My wife went for a hot sandwich, and by the time we got back to our lodging it had melted through the bread and was a little messy. She was lukewarm about it, so I had to tease her: "To-go hot sandwiches turn into a hot mess, poor decision." She appreciated my annoying comment and happily snagged a bite of my delicious sandwich, lol. Great sandwiches, friendly vibe, and definitely worth a stop if you're in the area. Highly recommend. 5 stars P.S. my photo of my sandwich just doesn't do it justice. I

I opted for a different salad and my husband ordered a sandwich. They said it would take about 20 minutes so we arrived 20 minutes later. We had our kids in the car so my husband went inside to grab them. He text me and said they hadn't even started making them...apparently they had another large order that was holding them up. It ended up taking 15 more minutes for them to make 1 sandwich and 1 salad. The food was fine, but nothing amazing. After the timing of the experience I definitely won't be going back.
