It wasn't busy when I arrived, so it was quieter. They started the table with bagel chips- they're crispy and crunchy and have pickle spears on the side. I ordered the hamburger with fries this time. It's a solid classic hamburger, so you know what you're getting. The fries are DELICIOUS and crispy, I could eat a whole plate of them. Parking- plenty of parking in the parking lot

Huge restaurant and nice big patio with heaters. Nice bar and they have a happy hour menu too. Food was good and a large variety on the menu. Matzo ball soup was pretty good although the ball itself was not perfect. The cheese blintzes were very good, sandwhiches were elite, and the mish mosh soup was a generous portion! Definitely best deli in the desert!

Greeted with a smile upon arrival. Great Bloody Mary! Ordered Greek Salad and dressing on the side. Fresh and crispy greens. Checked on if wanted more water or another Bloody Mary. Wonderful cinnamon rolls to take home! Clean and spotless bathrooms!!

I can't finish by myself. it is a big portion.

I wanted to update my review long time ago. Finally I am doing it. The dish I used to so loved after I did my review guess what ! sadly the restaurant changed. It is not a half chicken anymore. I am sad.

I've had deli sandwiches all over the country and this was the BEST pastrami Rubin I've ever had. The bread was buttered and grilled (but not soggy), the Russian dressing was homemade and tasty, the cheese was melted and gooey, the sauerkraut was heated with a little tang to it, and best of all, the pastrami was tender and flavorful with just the right amount of fat, and a little pepper. In addition, they give you bagel slices (toasted and seasoned) and kosher dill pickles while you're waiting for the food. The menu is 7 pages long and pretty much everything is served morning, noon, and night (see photos). It's not a cheap meal, but it is exceptionally good.

Second chance. Last chance. Waited for a hostess for over 5 mins. Then she couldn't figure where to seat us. I said the patio. There was no one there but a few customers. She hemmed and hawed for several minutes. The tables were filthy and the salt shakers were filthy. Waited for silverware like 12 minutes after they brought the food. Food was tasteless. Plates were oversized. Had to ask for coffee twice. Coffee was good. Even sourdough toast and omelette had no taste, even after smearing toast with butter!!! Omelette sounded amazing. It came on a huge oversized plate and it was way in the corner. Bagels were small and tasteless. Glass case of danish and baked goods looked very underwhelming. Service was bad like last time. Food was worse than last time. We won't be back. We live nearby...So many other places to go.

Overpriced and under quality. Was looking for a refreshing and well made salad by a deli but I could've made this at home with better substance and quality. Took away the Caesar wrap and it was falling apart and not prepared together. Front staff was standoffish but the wait staff was kind. I'd only go back to try the bakery items as the restaurant isn't really worth the cost. Busy environment. Cleanliness was ok. Outdoor patio seating available.

Ordered the New York style hot pastrami on rye with coleslaw and a Dr. Brown's Cream Soda. The pastrami was the highlight. Piled high, tender, and full of that classic deli flavor with just the right amount of richness. The rye bread held everything together well and had a nice bite to it. It's the kind of sandwich you have to take a second to look at before figuring out how to eat it. The coleslaw was fresh and crisp, a good balance to the sandwich, and the cream soda was cold and refreshing. Also ordered a slice of pistachio cake to go. Absolutely delicious. The place has that old school deli feel, busy but in a good way, and full of character. Service was friendly and efficient even with the crowd. Definitely a spot worth stopping at if you're in Palm Desert and want a proper deli sandwich.

Service was excellent. Seated immediately and ordering minutes later. Got extra cream cheese on request and our coffees were diligently refilled. The main attraction was the pastrami sandwich. Totally to my wife's taste, extremely lean and stacked high. She had to take half home. I tried an omelette with corned beef and loved it. The everything bagel was perfectly acceptable, not too "bready." So: service good, pastrami good, and bagel good. Everything good about a deli is covered.

This deli opens at 8am. We were actually 2nd. in line for the doors to open. My friend and I lived many many years in NYC...deli rules. When it opened we were greeted and seated, we chose to sit inside though they did have a fairly big patio area. Service was excellent all around from the hostess who sat us to Christina who took good care of us making sure water and coffees were refill promptly and was very friendly. My friend ordered his favorite, a hot Pastrami sandwich on lightly toasted rye. I ordered my most favorite deli item, the Chopped Liver appetizer. While we were waiting for our food, we were served the tradition Pickle Tray, YEAH!!!! The food came out and was all DELISH! My friend loved his pastrami sandwich and my chopped liver was good but could of used some chopped hard boiled egg, more onion and some salt.. but was still good. To note: We would definitely come again on an off hour where I would not have to wait. Atmosphere: Fairly large inside and patio, very Deli feel, huge bakery display to purchase. Service: excellent. There are many other good options to pick from! If you end up disliking the chopped liver, I'd hate for that to ruin your experience at Sherman's. The second time I ordered: - NY Style Hot Pastrami Sandwich: This was the best thing I tried on the menu. The pastrami was absolutely perfect! I highly recommend this sandwich! - Lite Lunch Special: Not all sandwiches are available for the half portion, so I would suggest clarifying with your waiter. I ordered 1/2 Brisket of Beef (BBQ sauce on the side) and 1/2 Garden Salad. Both were just fine. Unfortunately I was way too full to try any of the dessert. They were beautifully displayed though!

Honestly, wish I hadn't................ I got in line, not too busy, maybe 8 people in front of me. I ordered the Sexy Italian, minus olives and mayo. That, and a bag of chips was $23.00. Good lord! Better be good, right? How was it, you ask? Shitty! First of all, I took a seat in the room with the huge table behind the drinks. There was shit all over the table...napkins, crumbs, mustard stains etc. Wipe that shit down, man, seriously! Anyways.....I got my sandwich fairly quick. First thing I noticed was that it looked straight up like Kirkland/Costco ham on the sandwich. Nothing wrong with Kirkland ham, I buy it and eat it all the time, but for an Italian sandwich that costs $18 by itself, step up the meat game, man! The salami was cut pretty thick too and had a very overpowering smoke flavor. It was too saucy with the pesto and mustard and hard to eat. The kicker was the bread. It was a "parmesan roll", but it looked and tasted almost underbaked. It was really thin too! Subways Italian herb and cheese bread is way better, honestly. I bit in and was immediately disappointed. The quality of meat was bad, the bread was crappy, the produce was skimp, plus it was messy as a mofo. I ate half of the sandwich, and tried to take another bite of the second half, and I couldn't do it. Threw it away. Waste of $23.00. At least the Salt and Vinegar chips I picked out were good, lol! Definite one and done for me. Not sure how they have almost 5000 mostly positive reviews. Maybe people in Indio have different taste buds? Who knows. I shall not return. Meh.

My son ordered the same with a few tweaks and loved his as well. My wife went for a hot sandwich, and by the time we got back to our lodging it had melted through the bread and was a little messy. She was lukewarm about it, so I had to tease her: "To-go hot sandwiches turn into a hot mess, poor decision." She appreciated my annoying comment and happily snagged a bite of my delicious sandwich, lol. Great sandwiches, friendly vibe, and definitely worth a stop if you're in the area. It was close to end of day so I was quick to browse the offerings before placing my sandwich order. Ended up getting a Caprese and Parma on focaccia. I asked the lady behind the counter for a popular favorite recommendation and she seemed confused and just said everything was good. Two sandwiches around $40 so I was hoping for something great. Unfortunately we agreed that the taste was good, but nothing amazing and probably not what we were expecting for the price. Everything fell just a little bit flat. It wasn't bad but it wasn't memorable either. I ended up drizzling balsamic vinegar on the Caprese at home since they only put olive oil and a little bit of pesto on the bread and the whole thing just felt lacking ever so slightly. The shop itself was clean and well kept and had a lot to offer so I still recommend stopping by and browsing for Italian goodies. Just not my favorite sandwich spot.
