We learned that Sydney's is proudly Canadian, where most items sold in shop are Canadian made. The merchandising in the store is perfect - well laid out, not overwhelming with excessive bells and whistles with an old antique feel. Professionalism is usually top on my list when I walk into a high-end store and this shop exceeded my expectations. The staff were not only exceptionally knowledgable about their products, but they were all friendly and happy to help without at all feeling pushy which is a rare combination. And to top it off, we got to meet the owner in house. You could tell immediately that Sydney is down-to-earth and takes pride in his brand and wants his clients to leave happy and well dressed. We spent over an hour in there and truly enjoyed the experience. We can't wait to go back to order his suit in the winter. Thank you Nicole for all of your help.

Okay, so let me be a bit more specific: By reasonable prices, I mean reasonable by non-sweatshop standards. These are not cheap clothes (prices seem to run in the $70 to $200 range), but consider that people are actually making a living designing and making them right here in the city, and then get out your wallet and pay what well made, unique clothes are actually worth. Or if you have to, wait until August and February and hit the sales. By real-world array of sizes, I mean there are plenty of Extra Smalls on the racks, but there are also Extra Larges and even one or two XXLs. The owner told me that she tries very hard to have something for everyone. Now, I'm a size 14/16ish, right between regular and plus size. Most stores (whether regular or plus size) have a depressing lack of selection for me, but I've been able to find lots of pieces to choose from at Fresh Collective. Most of the sales staff are the designers and artists who make the clothes and jewelery. These are the people I want to support so they can make more beautiful things for me to choose from.

My finds over the years are too many to list, but some of my favourites include a $13 Harvey's seatbelt bag, killer Diesel jeans for $11, a stylin' $45 Mexx interview-type suit that evidently did the trick. Everything here is sorted by size instead of colour, which is precisely how all second-hand stores ought to be. The stellar organization makes it way faster to find things, and the finds are so abundant here that I always creatively interpret the six-item limit at the change rooms. Older stock will get discounted up to 70% (I think), but tags are sometimes not marked down yet, so ask and check the date on the tag to see if it might get further reduced. It's exclusively women's wear and accessories, but no shoes. While clean and orderly, the store probably hasn't seen a reno since Michael Jackson was black, but who cares? Not I. This place deserves a bajillion stars and is absolutely worth the trip out to Etobicoke.

I usually take advantage of their sales that happen once or twice a year as their regular priced items are more pricy. However, I do occasionally go for their basics which are of high quality. The store layout is spacious. Some clothes can easily be unisex. Staff are always friendly, professional, and helpful. If you want to try on clothes, they will also set aside the clothes for you in the changeroom area so that you can continue to browse. There is also a sofa in the changeroom area if you are waiting for your friends to try on clothes as well. If you do end up buying clothes they give you a nice tote bag for your purchased clothes. Overall, a nice spacious clothing store selling sustainable and ethical high-quality clothing. The staff are great and friendly as well. I found my Sophia Tolli dress at another location out of town and I called numerous places before…read morefinding it at Elizabeth's. Walking by outside, you cannot tell that this is a bridal boutique - the front of the store had all kinds of different clothing for sale and I would have walked right past it if I didn't see the sign. Service was good, however the selection they had in-stores was rather small. The price of the dress could not be beaten anywhere else and the dress came in very quickly! I ordered the dress on 06/29/2014 and was advised I would receive it by November (which is pretty impressive as most locations need 6 months). The dress arrived on 09/19/2014! The dress is beautiful and is exactly what I imagined. Minor alternations will be required (adding cups), and their in-house seamstress will be taking care of that in January 2015. The quote they provided was very reasonable. The only downside is the size of the fitting rooms. They are very small. I am fairly slim (street size 2) and there is just enough room to try on one a-line dress. There is absolutely no way you can have two dresses in there at the same time and I can only imagine how difficult it would be to try and get into a full skirt ball gown. Overall, I would not recommend starting your search here, but this place is quite a gem if you already have a specific dress in mind.

The staff was great. The group of guys who worked that day were all friendly and engaging. They were pushy and very helpful. The store is kind of enormous with tons and tons of stuff, mostly clothing (men's and women's) with other cool accessories, bags, shoes, etc. They had a lot of cool Toronto t-shirts there perfect for the tourist like me and the local who wants to rep their city. Prices were reasonable to slightly high depending on how you gauge things. I could have definitely bought more here but I was trying to watch my budget- I couldn't blow all of my money on my first shopping trip. This is the perfect place to pick up a gift for someone, whether that someone is you is to be determined. And if I'm in that part of town when I'm back in Toronto, I'll be back for sure.

There is still one picture posted of the old tiny store. This new showroom is bigger and packed with new items. They now sell all kinds of products and hardware like their display tables and all kinds of nick knacks. It was always the brands that got me hooked on Neon -- Vans, Converse, Doc Martens and now Kodiak boots along with clothes from Element. Their latest signature line is from Fjällräven Kånken in Sweden where everything they make is a hit, all killer and no filler sort of thing. Expensive, but worth it for anyone who is active. Some of their products are more technical in nature but the colours and styles are outstanding and tasteful. They winter coats and jackets make sense for our climate and eschews the down overkill of what you normally see on the streets of To. Neon, glad to have you back!
