A sandwich featuring tomato, fresh greens, mozzarella, and prosciutto in a baguette, served on parchment paper.

Visited Alimentari for their sandwiches for the first time last Saturday. Went during brunch time and there wasn't too long of a wait. The venue is really cool, there's a wine section, a food section filled with various produce and a fully stocked fridge & freezer full of house-made goods. I ordered the soppressata sandwich. It was fantastic. The bread was crunch & chewy, the ingredients were fresh, and the sandwich was around $13. Huge fan of the sandwiches they're making and personally I think it is on par with Cassetta's sandwiches. Check them out!

I discovered Alimentari after diving into some research on where to find the best tiramisu in Madison--and this Italian inspired store kept popping up again and again. Located in a small strip center with plenty of parking, it's a cozy little gem that's easy to get to. I came in with one mission: to try the tiramisu. A heads-up--they serve it frozen from the freezer, not fresh. But don't let that deter you. Once thawed, it was absolutely delicious. The texture was creamy, the flavor was well-balanced, and it was beautifully presented too. The store itself is a treat for food lovers. Beyond desserts, they also offer fresh pasta made daily, sandwiches, charcuterie boards, wine, and gourmet pantry staples like canned goods and high-quality olive oils. The staff were also friendly and welcoming! If you're craving a taste of Italy without the airfare, this spot is well worth a visit.

Stopped in for lunch and also picked up a few items for future meals--pizza sauce, noodles, and their housemade giardiniera. I tried the roast beef sandwich and really enjoyed it, especially with their horseradish sauce. It had great flavor and wasn't overly spicy, though I wouldn't have minded a bit more heat. The bread was a bit tough, which made the sandwich slightly harder to eat, but overall the flavor was excellent. This place is a great little spot to grab a bite and stock up on some quality ingredients for dinner at home.

The food lived up to its hype. The taste is incredible, only problem I had is with the bread. It's so tough, that the meat starts falling out the other end after every bite. I had to keep rotating the sandwich and figure out how to avoid it falling apart. The place itself is a bit crowded and is the market has some crazyy prices for random producrs. Staff are friendly too

The service was wonderful, the deli guy was so very nice - even with my annoying questions! They were pretty fast, even with a lot of people there, but I wouldn't recommend stopping here if you're in a rush. The white wine spritzer was SO GOOD! And the sandwich was unreal. I ate the entire thing in one sitting. I wish I had another one to eat as I'm writing this. The iberico ham chips were terrible though!

Pork Porchetta - A baguette sandwich filled with sliced meat and greens, held by a person wearing a gray sweater, with paper wrapping in the background.

Such a cool Italian inspired spot off of Monroe. We wanted to try out their sandwiches and were not disappointed. The pork porchetta was unreal. I highly recommend it to anyone who's obsessed with goat cheese like myself. We also ordered the pastrami and Swiss but realized after we got home they forgot to add the cheese. I will say, although the bread was delicious, it was a bit thick for my personal sandwich preferences. We showed up at peak lunch hours on a Saturday, so granted it was packed. However, there is so many packaged Italian items to browse through inside and even a dedicated wine and liquor corner. This definitely helps pass the time and we will be returning in the future now that I know all the ingredients they offer.

Sandwiches and cheese curds - Two sandwiches with greens and cheese are placed on parchment paper on a table, with a cup of pasta salad and drinks nearby.

I like to come here on my visits to Madison to get one of their delicious sandwiches and check on their variety of tasty Italian things like wine, liquors, cheese, canned fish, chocolates, and more. The space is nice and their service is friendly.

Really enjoyed this sandwich! The protein was very high quality as well as all the ingredients. I got the prosciutto and it was magical! Bread was also very good! Overall so tasty and fresh!

With so many options coming at you right when you walk in the door, it can be overwhelming at first. However, no matter what you get, you'll be itching to come back. Friendly staff and great environment. No seating inside, but that gives you the option to walk to a nearby park and enjoy your sandwich there

This is a small fancy shop with a lot of great products. I came to get a sandwich for lunch. I got a beef roast sandwich and it was excellent. It had a wasabi kind of a spicy kick to it. And it was really hot. If you dont like spicy food may be its not for you. They had 4 flavors of home made gelato, from which I took 3 - spumoni, pistachio and caramel pie. It was really good. I also took a Barons gelato (lavander london fog flavor). That was a good try as well. Saw Mayana chocolate for the first time, so got a mayan spice bar flavor chocolate. Loved it. It had a center of caramel and some spiciness to it. Took amara falso non alcoholic cocktail, it was a little bitter for me. And had a ginger kick. Over all everything from here was good.

This store was so cute, I really loved all the products you can get here! My partner is a regular here to get their sandwiches, and all the staff I've met are so friendly. Along with our sandwiches, I also got a balsamic vinegar and a fennel pollen/lavender goat cheese, which were both lovely on a salad I had this week. - banh mi (6.5/10): twas a good sandwich, the proportions are pretty huge, all the ingredients tasted really fresh and I enjoyed all the pickled veg. The only thing I disliked was that the pork was very salty which made it difficult to eat the whole thing-- however, important to note that my partner recommended this sandwich to me and said that it wasn't this salty when he got it so it's possible the saltiness was just a fluke that day! Overall, would come back to try more sandwiches (especially the porchetta w/ apple and fennel) and buy more goods, it had a lovely small business vibe that I would love to continue to support!

Excellent smoked trout sandwich and artichoke sandwich. My mother in law said "the turkey is good, but big." . Definitely would go back.

This market also carries some exotic international produce from other parts of the world which is always fun and interesting to check out all different items everything from jackfruit, cactus leaves, spicy Thai red chili peppers, and much more. It's a great Asian market to get exotic produce, meats, speciality frozen Asian food items, and of course some Asian candy at a great price! Definitely try their fresh hot deli bar that serves a variety of different types of Asian specialities daily showcasing mostly Thai, korean, Japanese, Filipino food. You order right at the window and they have a little kitchen inside. I love their Korean Bulgogi plate/kimchi fries, Thai fried chicken, Lumpia, and grilled sausage! Who doesn't love some lumpia and Korean corndogs also! I constantly crave their Korean beef Bulgogi plate which comes ontop of rice, a side of kimchi, and cucumbers which is absolutely delicious! Their hot deli bar is a hidden gem/one of the best in the city and a great place to get a delicious, quick, cheap lunch! I love browsing their daily desserts/bakery table to find desserts that give me a warm homely feeling with Thai mango sticky rice and tapioca cake! Every-time I come to A-Mart the staff go above and beyond, are very friendly, and accommodating especially if I am seeking a food item that is not always easy to find! I enjoy checking out A-Mart and always find something unique and interesting!

I arrived with a huge appetite and ordered the purple sticky rice, crispy pork belly, papaya salad, and eggrolls. I was absolutely blown away. The pork belly was easily some of the best I've ever had; the skin was incredibly crunchy, and the meat just melted in my mouth. It paired perfectly with the hot pepper sauce on the side. They do have some seating but the vibe feels like this is more of a carryout place (which I did). They have not only hot items but also pre-packaged grab and go items located next to where you order. Ordering is easy-make your selection and pay in the front. I ordered a 1/2 pound of pork belly and a link of sausage. I liked that both were fresh and presented right in front of you. From an execution/taste perspective, both were good (but not great). The sausage was on the greasy side and lacked the punch of lemongrass and other seasonings that are the mark of a good hmong sausage. The pork belly was also good but lacked the true deep crunch and crispiness that the top layer should have. Definitely would recommend it as it's hard to find such items. I will also be sure to try their pho to see how it stacks up.
