I've been here a few times before but because I don't live in Madison, it's always good to come back to see this Hmong business still there. I go here for the meds most of the time but this time I actually tried their food and some Yelp reviewers said their stuffed chicken wings was good so I figured I should give that a try. To my surprise, it was actually good. Don't know why I never tried their food! It's good! Stuffed chicken wings were not dry and actually stuffed with the yummy glass noodles. Only downside is that they charge $3.50 for just one stuffed chicken wing. Which is pricy for a person on a budget or a student. But since I had my sisters with me I decided to buy enough for all of us! 8 wings with a small side of sticky rice= $44. Pricy but worth it. I've been craving for spring rolls lately and they had spring rolls! I had to get it! They are bomb! Especially their peanut butter paste that comes with it. Love love love. I recommend coming here for the Hmong food! They have a dine in area you can sit at and eat. Which is a plus. Their grocery section is pretty big. Looks small on the outside but inside it's pretty spacious and lots of stuff to choose from. They have mama noodles and the Korean spicy noodles too. They even have my favorite Korean dumplings! This place is a gem. Will continue to come back whenever I am in town!

This market is gem - from the produce section to the traditional clothing for sale. Plus, their deli is amazing. The fresh produce section has fresh vegetables and herbs for Southeast Asian cooking that I haven't been able to find anywhere else in town. Also, I just love seeing all the beautiful clothing every time I visit. There are several things to try from the deli. First of all, the squash curry is incredible! It is so flavorful and healthy, and gets bonus points because they use coconut milk that doesn't contain sulfites. Their papaya salad is delicious too - just be sure when you order to know that when they ask you what heat level you want, that it's not on a Midwestern scale! I ordered "medium" which would probably be considered extra spicy by most Wisconsinites. Oh, and don't forget dessert! I highly recommend the Nava! Looking forward to trying the pho and I'm hopeful that it's the real deal.

Located near the Belt line in the Fitchburg area, this little Hmong Legacy Market shop has a good selection of traditional food mixed with decent selection of variety of other Asian snacks. Additionally, there's a tiny window for a deli in the back that have some traditional Hmong food ready in minutes. You can dine in or choose to take it to go at your own convenience. Since I got pho, we decided to dine in and the servers nicely bought out our food. (Only problem was I didn't want any cilantro or green onions and took a good amount of time just picking these out.) My boyfriend got some pork belly and it was chewy and delicious. Plus there's a single stall bathroom in the middle of store for you to use at your convenience. Overall, we had a pleasant time at this local family owned shop for a delicious home-cooked style meal. There were little children running around the store but that just adds to the family-oriented experience. Check it out when you get a chance, the only thing I wished would be gone is the annoying bells ringing throughout the store but I imagine they use that to track people coming into the store. Otherwise, food was great, and we're likely to go back in the future to pick up snacks and eat some more Hmong food.

This a small, family-run Asian grocery store with a deli in back that serves a limited lunch and dinner menu. While most customers get their meals to go, there is a small dining area in the back of the store. The menu includes offerings like papaya salad, beef pho, roast pork belly, banh mi sandwiches and a stuffed chicken wing. Prices are exceptionally attractive, given the generous portions. I was disappointed by how dry my chicken leg / thigh was - they may have spent too much time under the heat lamp. I did enjoy balance of the sweet and bitter flavors in my Thai ice tea though. The parking lot in front of the store is small, but there is more parking in back.

I love this place! I'm so glad they are staying in good business during COVID. The stuffed chicken wings are my favorite hmong dish by far, and they don't skimp on the inner yumminess! So delicious. They make their own hmong sausage and egg rolls. The spicy sauce is so freaking delicious, and can't forget the Thai tea. Love!! Very kind people as well if you have questions about any of their products. I highly recommend if you want to try!

Decent Hmong market located right of the West Beltline. Located in a small plaza along with a laundromat. Very friendly staff. Small selection of Asian items. You will find a good amount of rice, spices, sauces, drinks, noodles, and fresh produce. Small selection of kitchen items: pans, Tiger rice cookers, motor and pestles. There is a front display with Hmong traditional wear for sale too. There is a deli in the back of the market that serves egg rolls, sticky rice, chicken, Hmong sausages. They also have Thai iced tea, Thai coffee, bubble tea, but no tapioca pearls. Portions are great! Freshness of the food depends on the time of day you go in. I had soggy egg rolls around 6pm on a Friday. Other times I've gone to eat lunch - the food was excellent. Accepts cash and card. Definitely needs an interior update. Would love to see more fresh meat in the aisles. Prices for the grocery items are great compared to other Asian markets I've been to.

Homegrown Thai Chiles, full flavor and bite!

Ia and family run a small neighborhood grocery store and eatery with strong Hmong roots. It changed hands and was formerly named, Madison Oriental Market, and now offer a bit more variety. They offer tasty pho, papaya and cucumber salads, pork belly, stuffed chicken wings, purple sticky rice, egg rolls, and a few other specials. The family has a huge few acre garden and they sell their Thai chiles, garlic, onion, melon, greens, and root vegetables. They also sell there own homemade noodle, tofu, pickled greens, chile oil, and a fiery fish sauce spike hot sauce. Cans of curries, chile paste, teas, hosin sauce, and dried noodle are the cheapest around. Stop by and stock up on the Asian goods you need to make some masterpieces at home, grab a snack, and maybe meet, Tom, one of the owners and cutest old guys ever!

Delicious pho :D

Alimentari - Spicy Sopressata Sandwich

Unbelievably good! This is the most definitive 5 star review I've written this year. Alimentari is…read moresuch a great addition to the area, and it has quickly become a favorite for me! They offer excellent sandwiches with a menu that updates regularly! Last time I stopped in I enjoyed a prime rib sandwich with a bag of chips! On top of their great food, they have competitive prices and an appealing assortment of deli and Italian cooking ingredients! The vibe of Alimentari is as charming as the food is tasty. The service is also top notch, and employees are happy to answer questions, cut your sandwich in half, or anything else you need to ensure a great experience! Pro tip: take your sandwich to the nearby park for a picnic!

While they seem to be known for their sandwiches, and for good reason, they have a lot of great artisanal items rooted in Italian cooking. This includes oils, wines, sauces, spices, treats and more. The "more" also includes fresh-made pasta, hand cut meats and cheeses, gelato and a few other absolutely delish items! Back to that sandwich...we were not hungry, but could not pass up a good sandwich, especially one freshly made on locally sourced and baked bread! The bread was the absolutely star of each bite, I mean...sheesh! The sandwich in full was great, and definitely worth the stop in on its own. The store itself is small, but mighty, and well laid out, stocked with all the goods, flows well, clean and in great condition. Service was stellar as well. We were greeted upon entry, checked on while browsing and chatted up while being rang out. Overall, solid spot for a ready-made meal, a special ingredient, a tasty sandwich, fresh pasta, charcuterie or just to wander around in!

What really shines here? Their food stall. I had the spam musubi and immediately went back inside to get 2 more lol. The person working the window even gifted me shrimp toast, which was very sweet. (The shrimp toast is fire). This is more of a pick up and go kind of spot, although they have stools and a counter if want to eat there. Think cafeteria vibes but not in a derogatory way. They sell out often. I know bc I came here yesterday around 2pm, SO excited for spam musubi, only to learn that they sold out of everything at 1pm LOL. Today? I made sure to get there around 1130am. Was able to get garlic butter shrimp (7 BIG shrimp, so flavorful) served with pasta salad (delicious, I usually do not love pasta salad), and rice. I also got a shrimp lumpia (delicious) and a spam musubi for later. Food was phenomenal as usual. The food scene in Madison is not as robust as other places I've lived, but this place? A gem. Def give them a try. Just don't go too late like I did yesterday.
