This place has a great selection of things you won't find in a regular grocery store, and the staff were very friendly.

    Alimentari - Spicy Sopressata Sandwich

Holy smokes... I am going to have dreams about this sandwich. It is definitely top 3 sandwiches of…read moremy life and maybe the best ever. I had the prosciutto sandwich and my SO had the pastrami and both had nothing but good things to say as we ate. The prosciutto sandwich had balsamic that had just started to soak into the otherwise crunchy bread, with these big chunks of mozzarella and the freshest tomatoes and greens. Alimentari itself is this awesome little deli/grocer with both bagged pastas AND FRESH PASTA/antipasti available to buy, as well as all sorts of goods, breads, coffees, chocolates, beverages and a whole wine selection. Beware that there is no seating inside but definitely do not let this dissuade you from visiting.

I ordered the smoked turkey sandwich, and the gentleman taking my order pointed to a random piece of focaccia on display on the counter and asked if I'd like my sandwich on that. I don't know what kind of bread if normally comes on, but I have since read about the thicker/crustier bread on some reviews. Gosh am I glad he offered the focaccia. The bread made this sandwich, it was sooo good. It was light and fluffy despite being substantial in size, and had this delightful little crunch from the sea salt on it (not in a salty sense, just in a wonderful texture sense). There was a ton of turkey on it and it was a yummy smoked flavor. The other fixings were standard but complimented the sandwich very well. The sandwich was tasty and filling. All this said, because I paid $16 for my sandwich, I wouldn't make it a regular occurrence, maybe a special treat. But if it's on regular bread, particularly a harder crust bread, I think I'd skip it entirely. You do get a lot of sandwich for your money, but I just can't justify it. So, overall, this is definitely worth trying and deciding for yourself - I don't think you'll be disappointed.

They have many Asian food items/exotic…read moreingredients available that are often hard for me to find such as Thai mud fish, shrimp paste, and fresh green papayas that I specifically look for. This market also carries some exotic international produce from other parts of the world which is always fun and interesting to check out all different items everything from jackfruit, cactus leaves, spicy Thai red chili peppers, and much more. It's a great Asian market to get exotic produce, meats, speciality frozen Asian food items, and of course some Asian candy at a great price! Definitely try their fresh hot deli bar that serves a variety of different types of Asian specialities daily showcasing mostly Thai, korean, Japanese, Filipino food. You order right at the window and they have a little kitchen inside. I love their Korean Bulgogi plate/kimchi fries, Thai fried chicken, Lumpia, and grilled sausage! Who doesn't love some lumpia and Korean corndogs also! I constantly crave their Korean beef Bulgogi plate which comes ontop of rice, a side of kimchi, and cucumbers which is absolutely delicious! Their hot deli bar is a hidden gem/one of the best in the city and a great place to get a delicious, quick, cheap lunch! I love browsing their daily desserts/bakery table to find desserts that give me a warm homely feeling with Thai mango sticky rice and tapioca cake! Every-time I come to A-Mart the staff go above and beyond, are very friendly, and accommodating especially if I am seeking a food item that is not always easy to find! I enjoy checking out A-Mart and always find something unique and interesting!

Taro cake was ok. Food from the food counter was very good. Prices were reasonable. Sugar cane juice with kumquat was very flavorful. Thai style fried chicken was my favorite food item. Chicken was fried real crisp. Stuffed chicken wings was good, but it has only stuffing no real chicken meat. Bulgogi plate and Korean taco were both good entrees. Sesame ball was a good snack item. I went for fried banana as well. It was ok. Outer coating was nicelly crisp. Vietnamese donut was enjoyable.

Pistachio one was my favorite. There were many Asian ice creams. Propitious mango was a good one. There were a lot of small food places in the food hall. I tried food from a lot of different places. The food hall had a lot of seats, and was neatly maintained. It was never crowded. Kawasaki is close to the entry of Global Market. So the first time I was there, I went straight to this place. I had a Chicken katsu rice bowl. It was one of the best food I had in the food hall. Display had some very delicious and cute cakes. Next time I should try some of that. Taiwan Street has nice pho and bubble tea. I went for a pistachio milk shake, without bubbles. It was good. But I think I should have really went for a pho. They have a lots of sweets in display. I went for a peach swiss roll and a sesame ball. Both were good. From Dumpling House, I went for a chicken and mushroom dumpling and chinese chive pie. Both were good . It came steaming hot. I think I should have gone for some of their more favorite items like chive and pork dumpling. From Nice Flavor Stir Fry , I went for a sauteed sliced lamb with cumin. Generally this is a really flavorful dish which you cannot go wrong with. But it wasn't as good as I expected. Flavors were off, and the quality fo meat was not as good as I expected. Stir fry chicken mei fun was my favorite item from Bowl Bowl Rice. It came hot and was flavorful. I also had a tea leaf flavor egg. It was just $1. But it came with egg shell. I had to peel it. Egg was slightly less flavorful than I expected. Mochi donut is the main item in Glazed. There were some food items as well, but I didn't find takers for that. I went for 3 donuts - Oreo, honey dew and churro. The flavors were all interesting. May be oreo was my favorite. Donut texture was more chewy. From S&B Hmong Kitchen, I went for a fried rice from this place. It was flavorful. Cilantro and scallion on top gave a nice flavor kick. From Poké Mì, I went for a drunken noodles as my entree. It was not as good as I expected. Flavors were off. May be I should have gone for bahn mi. I haven't seen sugar cane juice anywhere else in Madison. So went for one. I thought it was just ok.

The store is very well organized and clean. They have a live seafood section in the back as every Asian grocery store should. The adjoining food hall is such a nice surprise! Like a mall food court but with all Asian food. It walked around multiple times just to decide on what to eat. Then picked another stall for homemade yogurt and boba drinks (Taiwan deli). Service is standard Asian service - minimal but adequate. This is such a gem in Madison. I will be back!

I arrived with a huge appetite and ordered the purple sticky rice, crispy pork belly, papaya salad, and eggrolls. I was absolutely blown away. The papaya salad was on another level--perfectly tart and sweet, exactly how I like it. The pork belly was easily some of the best I've ever had; the skin was incredibly crunchy, and the meat just melted in my mouth. It paired perfectly with the hot pepper sauce on the side. Top-tier food and wonderful service! Awesome and generous owners!

They do have some seating but the vibe feels like this is more of a carryout place (which I did). They have not only hot items but also pre-packaged grab and go items located next to where you order. Ordering is easy-make your selection and pay in the front. I ordered a 1/2 pound of pork belly and a link of sausage. I liked that both were fresh and presented right in front of you. From an execution/taste perspective, both were good (but not great). The sausage was on the greasy side and lacked the punch of lemongrass and other seasonings that are the mark of a good hmong sausage. The pork belly was also good but lacked the true deep crunch and crispiness that the top layer should have. Definitely would recommend it as it's hard to find such items. I will also be sure to try their pho to see how it stacks up.
