Finding a quality and affordable computer repair tech can be a painful endeavor, like searching out a good auto mechanic who you can trust, especially when you're a female not familiar with a new area and your car is on the fritz. When you're lucky enough to find a place that is reliable and really cares, don't think of going elsewhere! I got one of those nasty Trojan viruses recently and was embarrassed that I became emotional when I started explaining the problem over the phone. I'm recently unemployed and desperately need my computer to search for a job each day, and the last thing I needed was to spend a wad of cash and get the run around from some computer wizard who wants to reformat my life. Courtney helped to talk me down, assured me that they would work closely with me to get the problem fixed and work out a reasonable payment plan, given my circumstances, should the damage be extensive. Once my computer was there Mike took great care to identify and remove the problem and gave me thorough instructions on how to avoid the same pitfall in the future. The two times I visited the service warehouse I even saw several trusted "elders" from the community coming and going in what feels like a very warm, inviting and orderly environment for a fix-it shop. These guys are top-notch, young and hip, and the owners seem like a beautiful little family. I was assured by the long boards and biker helmets that these guys also enjoy life and don't get too hung up by technology like some other computer savants that live breathe and eat anything tech. After 5 years of working with a HP tower computer, and getting by with the old laptops, we finally made the jump to a new operating system. Again, Mike Alifano was right there with us, helping us to understand what needed to be done, what the various options were, and how he would get it done. I SO appreciate the patient explanations of why certain things need to be done, and other options can wait. I opted to upgrade some components on my laptop, as well as the OS and MS Office applications on all three computers. Being a consultant, though, I couldn't be without my equipment for very long. Mike and Andy were sensitive to this and got the work done expeditiously. Plague, working from home, Apple putting minimal RAM into laptop all conspired to require more RAM. Got the recommended brand from the recommended dealer. Called a major chain (also recommended by Apple), who told me that my MacbookPro would need to be sent away to install RAM. Um, no!
