Three years ago I would have been shocked if someone told shopaholic me that I'd enjoy shopping for my kids way more than myself, but it's true. I skipped the cute women's clothing and made my way towards the back of the store to check out the cute little onesies, tutus, etc for my little ones. I just so happened to be here during the Winnetka Sidewalk Sale so I got some fab deals on kicky pants PJs and other cute outfits for my son. I didn't have as much luck for my daughter, but next time we're in need for a tutu we'll be headed here. If you stop in on the 363 days the Winnetka Sidewalk Sale isn't happening it can be a bit pricey, but definitely worth checking out for the kids. And perhaps even yourself.

Plus the session will be tailored to your needs. I scheduled an appointment and was paired with SA (sales associate) Jackie. Jackie is the best at her craft bar none. I was impressed by her knowledge of products in both makeup and fragrance categories. She definitely knows the brand heritage and really takes the time to get to know you. She is genuine, not pushy and in doing so she helped me find a bottle of perfume I plan to treasure for years to come. She also introduced me to some of the Les Exclusifs which are simply amazing. One thing I want to mention is that this location is strictly a fragrance and beauty shop. I remember a customer walking in asking if the store sold shoes. Unfortunately, this location is not RTW (Ready to wear) and/or a jewelry shop. If those are your aims, you will be disappointed. The only RTW/jewelry location in the Chicagoland area is their Oak Street store in Downtown Chicago. The only accessories I found outside of fragrance and makeup sold here are a limited selection of eyewear and small leather goods (mainly vanity cases). If you're looking to purchase something for the holidays and want to get a nice perfume or makeup set for your loved one, I would definitely look into Chanel. Their Winter Constellation 2025 Christmas packaging is absolutely gorgeous and complimentary with purchase. Lastly, the location was challenging to find. Although my appointment mentioned the store address and suite, they don't really tell you how to get there in detail. You have to figure it out. Oakbrook Center is hella large and it's a mall I don't frequent often. The unfamiliarity of the space almost made me miss my appointment so plan ahead. Also, this is a standalone boutique. If you're trying to find this place, I would park by Macy's, walk towards the fragrance section and then use the exits near Macy's fragrance section and hang right as you exit out through Macy's. Also, I would like to thank all of the people that have come out to support businesses in this area that were hit hard by the current political climate in Washington D.C. At the height of violence in our streets I tried to do my best by supporting some of these businesses. During this phase 18th street looked like a ghost town on a Saturday. Normally on a Saturday in this neighborhood has people teeming everywhere and the smell of an asado in the air (Yum). Having time off and having an asado is the perfect way to relax and spend time with your family. Plus, who doesn't like the smell of an asado? Well during this time period I found this shop that I thought had some really cool and unique stuff. Also, you may notice that they have a fair amount of stuff with the famous Hulu's The Bear line, "Yes Chef, No Chef" on it. If you are a fan of the show like I am, then, the interior will look familiar to you because it was in a seen on the show (I think it was season 3). I immediately recognized the store and thought to myself "cool" and great choice. Anyhow, if you find yourself in the area, pop in and check it out. They are very selective as to which artists around the country they want to buy from and in turn sell their products. Maybe you will find that one unique thing that you have been looking for that you didn't realize you need. I mean, you never know unless you check it out. My mom and I could've spent the whole day there, the staff was welcoming and the store offered the most cutest items that were reasonably priced. The selection of things was great, from bookmarks, clothes, to mugs anything and everything you'd want for a souvenir.

I received an email about K. Amato having an annual sale ("Pieces Marked Down to $5, $10 & $15")…read more this past Wednesday (4/2) and had passed the store a couple times and admired some of their pieces, so I thought I'd stop in after work. The first thing that threw me for a loop was the quality of the "$5, $10 & $15" sale items. They bore little to no resemblance to their full priced jewelry (or high-priced sale items) and looked like something you would find at Forever 21, H&M, etc. (ie jewelry that would be $5, $10 & $15 at full price). What really got me though? The nicer sale items were on a table with a sign "30% off price as marked." Ok--so I look at the tags on a couple necklaces I liked, and the price is hand-written, with another price sloppily scratched out. The rub? The price scratched out was about 50% of the current written price! I've included a picture--the current price is marked as $74, but crossed out price of $40 is clearly visible! Even with the 30% off that would make the price $52--a 30% markUP from the $40 price! I don't know if they had previously had a bigger sale or why this was the case, but if you're going to try to pull the wool over your customers' eyes, at least have the respect/sense to put on a new price tag. I was very disappointed because I saw a couple necklaces, both on sale and full price, that I was interested in--I thought about it for a minute, but I just didn't feel right when by all appearances they had lured me (and a few other shoppers) into the store under the premise of a "sale" that appeared by all accounts to be phony. A store that can't respect a customer's time or intelligence doesn't deserve their business.

I reached into my giant stash of jewelry and there, be still my Yelpy heart, were a trio of gold bracelets designed by K. Amato. They even still had the tag attached. I got them for Christmas this past December from my aunt (think totally hip, hot, cool aunt; THANKS MEL). Yay! I hate bracelets that look and feel cheap and just of cheap quality (think Claire's) that either break or change color on you. A woman has a lot of things to worry about, we don't need to worry about bangles a'snappin in the middle of our work day. I popped them on and love them, they feel not-cheap and look sophisticated yet I know I can wear them in a non-office function too! Truth be told, I haven't been in the store but I pass it on my way to Sine Qua Non, and hey consider it bookmarked. Love love these bangles.
