A couple of times I've had random employees walk up and ask if I needed any help just on deciding which kind of product I was interested in. I've also put in request and they have filled them as well. They didn't carry leeks or fennel root, I asked and they provided. They are very flexible. The store is always well lit and clean. No clutter. They also have a bank inside. I've never had the pleasure of having to use it. But it does stay busy. I really enjoy just walking around and seeing different items they have on display. And if you like sushi, my favorite guy Biso makes a mean California roll and just about anything you can put in that wonderful tempted palette of yours:) I would recommend this place for sure. Their chicken tenders are good, but I'd skip the wings. The deli salads section is like a full aisle, including the basic coleslaw and potato salad, but including a bunch of dessert salads and jellos as well. I recommend the Strawberry Cloud, which is about $1 for a small container. I love their new organic/healthier aisle. They now carry my favorite brand of yogurt, Greek Gods, and almond flour, which makes it easier for me to make my beloved macarons. It's always clean and the staff is always friendly and helpful and the prices are pretty standard grocery prices. The only real issues that I have here are with ice cream, and it's been this way for years. Whether I buy Popsicles or ice cream, it is always obvious that there have been temperature issues in the store. The ice cream is usually weird and icy, and the Popsicles deformed. The produce section is good - not the most vast selection, but reliable. The bakery is good, as are the prices. It's as good as you can get in this area without going to a dedicated bakery. (In my experience, the cakes at the Stracks on 169th have always been fresh, unlike the stale cake I've taken back to East Chicago Strack's bakery) They have a sushi counter with a sushi chef who prepares things in-store. They also carry some other ethnic foods - Mexican brands, a few carribean spices, some Asian foods, frozen Perogi, etc. The employees are generally helpful and friendly. The recent remodel has improved the ambiance, and the store re-set has made it easier to find most things. While Whole Foods May have some fancier or more exotic items, this Strack's has a wide variety of reliably fresh, affordable groceries for people with normal incomes. While Aldi has more bargains on staple items, and some organic foods, you can do all your food shopping at Stracks and not break the bank.
