I had a really great experience thanks to a man by the name of Anthony G in the frozen department! As I walked into the store I didn't notice any shopping carts available so I just proceeded with my shopping when suddenly I realized I really couldn't do without it & that's when I noticed Anthony G working hard on a project and I walked over to him, greeting him and then I asked him if he knew where I could find a shopping carts. He stopped what he was doing and immediately went to get me one and let me know where they normally are and apologized that I couldn't find one and why that was perhaps and asked me if I needed any further assistance. Like to shop here because they have brands that other local stores do not have. Prices are high just like every other grocery store these days. They do have a rewards program that helps but, prices are still high. Produce quality is not as good as Stracks but we always seem to find what we need here. read more

First time to do a pick up order but already an awful experience!! Pick up time 8-9pm, daughter arrived exactly 9pm or a little before 9pm but they're already gone!! We live in Crown Point & it's a 25 min drive! Customer service can't even help, then what's their purpose? Disappointed recently with shopping here. Last night the store was desperately sold out of plenty of produce and bread. The floors were so dirty. No one was restocking. The fact that the store requires you to wear a mask but it's never enforced is ridiculous. So definitely do NOT go if you are unsure of being around maskless people. Now the prices are comparable to most grocery stores. Meijer has decent sales often. The variety is also decent. The fact that the store is more than just groceries makes it a one stop shopping location. Those are some of the positives. I would recommend to super early when they open to avoid the crowds and to shop in a well stocked and clean store. I've often seen the manager walking the aisles with department heads giving direction and inspecting the store. However the weekend turns into a different story. If I didn't look at my banking transactions online, I would have never caught that Meijer's charged me twice for the same transaction. Good thing I looked! This was my favorite store pre-COVID, It was 24 hours and me and brother would go and our late night shopping. But as of late the over tones of racism has peek in this store aisle. Being followed around the store, people popping up to pretend to do work, the phony store alerts are shameful! I use a motorized cart , I'm a large black man , I'm not able not to be noticed! The last straw was being told I can't take the store motorized cart to the car ( by an black disabled man, who probably told not to let me ) after being profiled. It's going down hill fast. There's been multiple instances of expired food (including meat in the fresh section). When alerted, the staff doesn't seem to care. They didn't even remove the expired beef. We waited and watched to see if it would be taken care of, but they didn't come back. So we took it to them instead. I hope they actually tossed it and didn't just put it back- if workers are going to be this level of enthused someone is going to get seriously sick. Baked goods aren't freshly made. For past two months I fail to receive half of the groceries on my list! Store is always empty! I thought that lack of stock was due to my shopping during weekend. Today I am shopping on a normal Monday - early afternoon, and still shelves are empty! I save $73 today, because Meijer was out of stock. Yet I had to stand in line for 20 minutes waiting to go through a check out system where I have to do half the work of getting my purchases into my cart! Meijer may have had great produce in the past. But it isn't worth it, I completely waste my time every time I enter this store. read more

Wish I could give this place zero stars... they don't even try to put out good food/produce for their customers. Which this place always seems to be packed.. why don't they stock it up if they always get business. Almost all of the produce is either rotten or wilted and one day away from rotting. Everything you look at is filthy, the workers don't care because the management doesn't care. They know people will shop there and this is one of the few grocery stores in the area. It's pitiful how bad the selection is , food shortage or not.. I've been to other stores and they have plenty of fresh food to sell.. Meijer on the other hand makes no effort to supply the people with good healthy food. They wouldn't care if you got sick and died from their nasty ass food because you'd just be replaced with another mindless robot to shop for rotten and disgusting groceries. Go ahead and shop here if you're looking to get rid of your family I'm so serious this is one of the worst businesses I've ever been too.. never In my life have I taken the time to write such a review but this cesspool deserves all of it... The pharmacy is great, the store is always stocked and the prices are on point with the shop and scan app. It pulls up the coupons available and you can clip them right in the app. But you know what sets this place aside from all the rest. THEY KEEP NICE SHOPPING CARTS. You don't have to fight them going sideways and they are always clean and sanitized . Also they constantly bring them inside. So you don't have to worry about them slamming into the side of your car. This sets them apart from the rest. If they put that much of an effort into there shopping carts, they go further on your shopping experience. read more

Always a great 1 stop shop. You can find all your household needs in 1 location. I mainly grocery shop here. Prices are reasonable. The produce is always nice and fresh. The meats are also fresh. I went to store on RIDGE RD. in munster pulled into a handicapped spot,( as I am handicapped ) lady next to me in reg. spot was on the parking line taking up half of my spot and hers. I let her know she was taking 2 spots and I had to squeeze into a smaller area of mine. I did my shopping and returned to my car and ( said person ) had left a dirty pull up on my wind shield, ( infintile) games to play. Where is that parking lot guy on facebook when you need him. I usually enjoy shopping at the store, however the other day something happened that made me concerned and a little mad. There was a gentleman who seemed to follow me throughout the store. I go down the aisle and he is there. Another section? He was there. Checkout? There he is going by, with a look of resigned disgust on his face. As I left, I found a staff member and made him aware of the situation. I tried to deflect my anger with humour by stating if he was store security......he was doing a poor job, and if he wasn't, he should be talked to about his behaviour. I have attempted to place pick up orders at this store twice now. Both times my orders were cancelled with no indication to me that they were. I received texts that my orders were ready so I wasted my time to drive all the way to the store just for them to tell me they didn't have my orders. You need to update your online system to either make items not available online or call people when their orders are canceled so they don't waste time driving to your store just not have anything to pick up. I avoid this location like the plague. I like Meijer as a chain but this location is so poorly managed. Only 3 lanes open with 6 people waiting in line at each. I am still hoping that I can get in and out quicker than I would driving 6 miles out of my way. The poor cashiers are quick but overworked. Every other location, for the most part, are better run than this one, especially Portage and Orland Park. Flossmoor is "so-so" but still better than here. I made what will be my last visit to Meijer yesterday evening at 5:30 pm. I went to check out at 6:15 and there was one checkout open! 28+ checkout lanes and one light is on with someone checking out. This happens consistently at this store. The only reason another lane ended up opening was because the lady behind me went to complain at customer service. I also find that the typical cashier at this store doesn't say hello, doesn't smile...it's like many of them hate their job. I've also decided to stop shopping here because Meijer is replacing a lot of brands with their own private-label brand, and in many cases giving customers no other option but their brand. I have been shopping at THIS Meijers since it opened. NEVER anywhere else, always MY STORE...But no more. I now go ANYWHERE else. Lately it has been terrible. 1. I had a full cart and almost completed my list. Someone moved my cart and I reported it. An employee and I were searching and she found out they thought it was abandoned. With my list sitting on top? I was in the produce section, and had to go to the bathroom. THAT bathroom was closed. So I had to run to the other one on the other side of the store. Very upset, all my stuff I spent over an hour getting. I just left. Even my list was gone. 2. No more U-SCAN IT except for 20 items or less. I do not want to have a conversation with rude people. I like to bag my things a certain way as to what goes in the upstairs fridge and what goes downstairs. Anal? Maybe....but this is how I prefer to do my shopping/ bagging. Plus I am a lot quicker. I can go on if I sit and think about more things..but that's about it..I usually would spend 200.00 easy every other week at Meijers. They lost a VERY loyal customer.
