This place is really good. I have come here each time I've been to San Juan and have enjoyed it each time. The service is really good, the prices are reasonable, and they have a full bar. I am a vegan and there's unfortunately only one vegan entree on the menu. Luckily it's really, really good and comes automatically vegan, including the sides (potato salad, coleslaw). It's a sauteed rice and veggies dish and is really satisfying. While you're here you must order the hummus and pita. The pita is freshly baked and is puffy and delicious, and the hummus is so good. The only reason why I'm giving it a 4 and not a 5 is because I wish they had more veg options. Aside from that, it's really good and I will continue to come back each time I'm in town. read more

My first dinner in Puerto Rico and it was Turkish!? Actually this was an excellent choice since it was just a block or two from our hotel and it was raining. Ali Baba has a beautiful, intimate courtyard setting under trees and canopies so we didn't get wet. The food was spot on! I love lamb, kabobs and all the spiciness of Turkish cuisine. The lamb doner platter had more than enough lamb to make me full and happy. The lamb was tender and tasty. All the standard fixins' that go with doner were included. My poor wife ordered a simple chicken kabob wrap and it was terrible. They bring out a large piece of toasted lavash bread to start the meal with nothing to dip it in. I asked for a a little hummus and they brought me a whole order that cost 11 bucks for like 6 people. We basically threw it all away. The small meal cost me over 60 bucks and we didn't even have a drink. It was terrible. Walk a little further down the street to UMMO or Tayzan and have a great meal for the same price with drinks. Not worth it. We were here a cuploe of years ago and it was good. Portions of the kebab were tiny. Hmmm, Turkish food in Condado? Alright, I will give it a shot. My husband had been craving some hummus while we were in PR, and I didn't want to order it at the Tapas place we were at the night before, so we came over to this place right off of Ashford Ave. What a great find! We started off with the hummus. I posted a picture with what that appetizer entails. It comes with a HUGE puffy flatbread and a plate of hummus I was convinced we had too much bread for. I was wrong, there was plenty of hummus and it was surprisingly enough to dip each piece of bread we pulled. It was just wonderful. I ordered one of the Turkish casseroles. It came on what looked like a mini wok. Rice was in the middle with some pita bread on top, surrounded by the chicken mixture I ordered. I proceeded to mix it up, as I was pretty unsure how to actually eat it any other way. Ha. My husband ordered a Lamb dish that was on top of pita bread and yogurt sauce. It was pretty delish. After we finished off the meals, we ordered a baklava to share and some Turkish coffees. Both were to die for, and should probably always be ordered together as they complimented each other extremely well. Delicious food, great service, and reasonably priced for the area. We stayed at the Marriott across the street for a few nights on our vacation...initially we walked past this place several times (thanks, google maps) before finally realizing it was directly in front of our hotel! Lol! Anyway, our party of four ordered a variety of dishes to share. Standout dishes were the greek salad with grilled chicken, veggie moussaka, beef kabobs, hummus, tsaziki, and the amazing freshly baked lavosh bread. We also ordered a pitcher of their homemade sangria, which was absolutely refreshing and delicious. Every dish was seasoned perfectly, like Mediterranean food should be. Even the side accompaniment of pickled cabbage and veggies paired well with the richness of our entrees. We ordered an additional lavosh because we could not get enough of it with the hummus. Oh, don't forget about their homemade hot sauces...good stuff if you love spicy! At a glance the menu may seem pricey to some, but the portions and flavors are definitely worth it! The servers are bilingual, and very friendly and helpful. They did check on us a few times too much towards the end, but overall it was a great experience. I am visiting Puerto Rico with my dad for a vacation and we love Mediterranean food. I saw the great reviews on Yelp and had to come give this place a try. My expectations were high and they were not met. A great restaurant combines both quality with quantity. This place definitely short changes its customers in terms of quantity. We ordered the appetizers imam bayildi (dish with eggplant, spices, and yogurt) and felafel (4 balls). The total for the two of these was $20 and we finished in minutes. Not happy with the small amounts, although the food was delicious. For our main coirse, we ordered the vegetable Mussaka (soup with eggplant, vegetables, and cheese) and it came on a stand and in a stone bowl. While this appeared to be a large quantity, the bowl actually had a convex inside such that there was less room for the actual main course. For a $50 meal for two, this is less than adequate. I have seen some great reviews regarding the Baklava, which was delicious but a dessert doesn't make a restaurant. This restaurant is incredibly authentic with servers wearing Fezes and a great dining area but the food is not worth the money. Stop by and try the Baklava though! Cheers read more

Wonderful place! We went here while in Condado and enjoyed several appetizers. We had one of the eggplant dishes and it was so delicious that my wife ate some too (she thought she didn't like eggplant!). We also had the tabouli and the spinach-feta quesadillas. So good. So, so good. Everything from the service to the presentation of our bill. Fantastic! My sister, brother in law and I were in San Juan for the day waiting to board our cruise ship for the week. When I saw Ali Baba was so close to us (less than a half mile!), and I LOVE Turkish food, the decision was made without any discussion :) This joint is I the ground floor or a business building/shopping high rise. It's small. Only 7-8 tables could put here - only a few of which were four-tops. There were few tables outside, unassuming they were ABs. This joint exudes that classic homey, quaint, personal atmosphere. The presentation of the food, not to mention the fantastic melding of flavors, tells one right away that the food is made fresh, and with love! We got there right as they were opening, thus we were the only customers. The young lady who sat us and was our server was very polite and friendly. She gave us plenty of recommendations and explained any questions we had about the different offerings. I was having a curiously hard time deciding what to pick, so we shared a few appetizers: Baba Ganoush (with homemade Lavash bread) and Tabouli. The flavors! I can hardly put it into words the distinct eggplant flavor was lightly seasoned. Not tarty. Not salty. Perfect. I could definitely taste the lemon and garlic mixed into the Tabouli. I've had better Tabouli, in my opinion, but this was not too bad. Booth dishes were scooped up and scarfed doe with the hot, fresh bread. Light, airy. A array of seeds were sprinkled on top - the presentation was top notch. Main dish? Ottoman Casserole. Verdict: Extremely succulent!! Incredible mix of spices seasoned the fish to perfection. Being from the metro Detroit Michigan area, I'm am used to having Middle-Eastern restaurants all around me. Since must of these are Lebanese, though, I relish the chance to try something from another area. Ali Baba gives the Turkish take. It's different but good different. In two visits (one dine-in, one take-out) I had: - superior vegetarian moussaka with just the right amount of cheese, large pieces of eggplant and a fresh and tangy garlicky tomato sauce (they use organic tomatoes here!) - a very unusual Greek salad: lots of carrots, celery, feta cheese and olives, not much lettuce and no beets or peppercinis. Didn't miss them. -lightly-dressed cabbage salads that were not overpowering - little thin bread wedges packed with spinach and feta. It tasted like a variant on the stuffed Indian breads I love. - red lentil soup that was a hearty combination with lots of vegetables. - tzatziki that was a nice halfway point between soupy and overly thick. - flat, warm, lightly-seeded bread. This was one of our FAVORITE meals during our San Juan vacation. The service was very attentive, and the food was delicious. You can order half appetizers, which I suggest so you can sample more. We got a half order of falafel and a half order of the fried/chopped eggplant (can't remember the name, but it wasn't baba ganoush). Both great, and they also brought out a big, hot loaf of bread. Stab the bread and let out the hot steam and it deflates and cools off so you can eat it with your meal! I ordered the lamb kofte -- yum yum yum. I think there were 5 or 6 little lamb meatballs, and the rice and other items on the plate were perfect complements. My boyfriend got a lamb dish that came with a side of browned butter, which they browned in a little saute pan at your table-side. Wish I could remember the name, but it was also fabulous. I ordered a sangria, he had some beer. For dessert, I had the baklava. I'd eat it EVERY DAY if I could. I know that Turkish food isn't typical for Puerto Rico, but if you want a delicious meal, this is a great place to stop in. read more

Ali Baba' adds a nice multicultural choice to this area. It's right across the street from the Marriot and tucked in behind a Starbucks. They were not open for lunch, so we went back for dinner. They use the big covered courtyard for outside dining - which we took advantage of. The stars of the meal were actually the baba ganoush/hummus place and the baklava. The baba ganoush had a nice bite of spice to it. The baklava was pick up and lick the plate good. We has a lamb meatball casserole and a roasted lamb dish with drizzled butter and yogurt sauce. Of the two is order the meatball casserole again. It has a better spice profile. Both of theses main dishes were suitable for sharing sharing. They were good but huge and sort of laid heavy on the chest. We also ordered the sangria, which companion noted was "very tasty". I thought it was an interesting multicultural nod to the Carribean. OK the true star of the meal - The FREAKING Baklava. Are you kidding me - just bring me a tray of it and a fork! Honestly - if I'm back, I'd treat this place more like a tapas place... What an amazing find! Love this place so much, had to write a review before I left San Juan. I highly encourage anyone that loves Mediterranean food to try this place while visiting. It was right across from our hotel that we discovered this gem! After walking around looking for a new place to try while visiting San Juan, and on a mofongo overload (love it but you can only eat so much)...we stumbled upon his place. We were immediately greeted by attentive staff (the service was excellent!!). We ordered tzatziki and baba ganoush which was served with the most delicious hollow/steam filled bread (have never had anything like it)! We also ordered the mix grill and feta salad. Can't go wrong with any of the above!! Saw some reviews about the food being sub-par and the service challenging. As a foodie from NYC I completely disagree. I came here with super high hopes as I had an amazing kabob wrap when they were serving food on their sidewalk the day after Maria hit. I took myself to dinner this week and not amazing. Reviews are on the positive side but I didn't feel so positive about my food and experience. The service was hurried and impersonal on that week night. The servers were not paying attention to simple requests like a lemon with my water and substituting more salad instead of the potatoes that came with meal. The food came quick and was just delivered without any attentions. The salad consists of cabbage and carrots mixed very heavy in the vinegar. I shed a few tears because so acidic. I expected a Greek salad, honestly. But that was not what I got. The rice was the best part of the meal. The yogurt dressing that came with the order was so freaking liquified and flavorless I don't see what the purpose is. The lamb kabob was lightly seasoned.
