Delicious spot that we were introduced by my father in law last time we visited Puerto Rico. Everything was delicious, with the exception of the hummus that was extremely oily. Some people love it oily, I prefer the richness of the hummus itself without all the extra oil. The veggie dish was also on the oily side. Other than that we had a very good meal. read more

The food, atmosphere, and service were fantastic. The food was amazing. Our kids inhaled the steak kebabs and rice (but avoided the pickled veggies and raw onions) and the pita (or Lavash) bread. It's a cute little place. Our apps were great but it really fell down when it came to the mains. My lamb was dust dry and my pita was absolutely sogged through on the bottom. I think they must have had an old unclaimed order sitting back there and just reheated it and sent it out. Really bad practice, fast food level. read more

Authentic & absolutely delicious Turkish food! The lamb chops were flavorful and tender but a little on the dry side (might have been my fault for ordering medium well) the yogurt sauce saved it, the chicken was among the best I've had & the lamb kebabs were so juicy. The hummus was good with the lavash bread & falafel was the best I've had on the island. The drink menu was extensive and they were able to keep the drinks coming out quickly. My only gripe is that I found the portion sizes for the food to be small for what they were charging, if it was a little more affordable it might draw more of a crowd. The portions are soooo small considering the price. I got a vegetarian casserole & I was still hungry afterwards. The server said the plates were filling.. not at all. I treated my dad here & he ordered the lamb shish kebab plate which was light as a feather. You're basically paying around $26-$30+ a plate.. for these very small portions. The service and food quality has really diminished in this place. They were out of Tabouli by 7pm and the meat seasoning in the mixed platter was ok at best. I've been to this restaurant in the past and 5 years ago, it was really an amazing experience! The service from an unfriendly, grumpy waiter really didn't help! As a foodie, I eat out at least twice a week and am intimately familiar with fair portion size. Ali baba, across the street from the Marriott is reaping the benefits of one time tourism. I paid $10 for a "plate" of hummus that is best described as a thin layer spread on a saucer, and a beef shish kebab plate that had six tiny pieces of meat that did not amount to more than 3-4 ounces total with an equally disappointing amount of rice ($29). I mentioned all this to our waiter who approached management and they did nothing. read more

Who would have thought to eat falafel in PR , but we did. The falafel platter was the best. Finding a perfectly cooked falafel is more difficult than you would think but Ali Baba did it - crisp and crunchy outside and moist on the inside. The hummus was also wonderful. Give it a try. read more

This hidden gem, and I mean hidden, was a tasty treat on our long weekend in San Juan. Located directly across the street from out hotel, I stood across the street looking for it, and had to use google maps to find it. Go into the alley between Starbucks and Hard Rock, and there it is. The food was very authentic, tasty, and well presented. The homemade bread that came with our hummus and babaganoush is not to be missed. My husband had the falafel on a gyro, I had the spinach and feta in phyllo dough, and we ended with Turkish coffee and baklava. A little gem of a restaurant tucked behind Starbucks. The lamb was super tender and my husband had the chicken curry which was a nice break from Puerto Rican fare. I haven't been in San Juan a ton of time but of the variety of restaurants I went to this was the absolute best. The food was to die for. I hit up the Feta Special served with their bread which is awesome. After that I did the combo plate with every type of meat included to sate my forgot-to-eat-lunch hunger. For dessert I had the Kunafah with some vanilla ice cream...my word! Even after the preceding massive meal (I was alone) I couldn't help but eat the whole thing. Now if the food wasn't enough, the service was the best I've seen since I've been on the island. A lot of places I've seen are pretty relaxed with the service-- which is fine when you're on vacation with no specific schedule. Here that was not the case! There were multiple employees, each just as happy to come by, check in, and help me with whatever I needed. Very friendly attitudes all around; one of my favorite things to see! All in all, while the total bill wasn't super cheap (~$67), since I splurged on a *lot* of food for one man, it was absolutely worth every penny. As I'm sitting here typing this I'm wondering if I'll go back tonight for my last night meal before heading home. That there's so many new places to try and I'm thinking of going to the same place twice should clue you in to what you can expect coming here. read more

We order the chicken kebab ( is not like your typical kebab in skewers ) it was like little chicken thin breast ( it was okay ) the Adana kebab was good ( taste was good ) . Definitely the baklava is NOT worth getting it was super dry and it was super crunchy .
