We have been here 3 times so far and so far they are about 1 for 3 with us. The very first visit was great. We showed up right when they opened and the service was great. Our waitress was super attentive and helpful and the food came out quickly and it was great. Unfortunately on our 2nd visit, the service wasn't great (different waitress) and they didn't have the beef shawarma so I had to go with a chicken shawarma plate. The chicken was good but nothing spectacular and the hummus was also pretty ok. On our third trip we took my in laws and the service was once again mediocre and the food was somewhat more disappointing. My in laws are big fans of Mediterranean and their selections were disappointing. I stuck with my beef and lamb shawarma which was ok, but not as good as the first time we had gone. Every time we have gone it has been right around opening time so they may do better later in the day once they are warmed up but we are definitely starting to have our doubts about going back. read more

I've eaten Mediterranean food all over Los Angeles, which is a mecca (no pun intended) for that type of cuisine. I can say, with complete confidence that the food here is as good or better than what I ate while living in LA. The meat was flavorful and tender. The rice was perfect. Wow. This place is seriously good! We went the first time with friends from Lebanon and they were amazed with the authenticity of the food. We have been here three times and the food and service is always on point. My husband and I shared the mixed grill the first two times. Tonight we ventured out and I had the Shish Tawouk (sp?) and he had the Gyro. This place is worth the visit! Most amazing place in El Paso! Syrian influenced food that is fresh and extremely authentic! Warning is you may want to order absolutely everything on the menu! We tried the hummus, spinach pies (my fav), taboulleh, dolmas, chicken skewer, the lamb skewer, falafel, and the baklava! AMAZING! First of all, they have very interesting drinks. We got watermelon cucumber lemonade and mint lemonade, both of which were really refreshing. The waiter picked the dishes for us: we got gyro and shawarma chicken. They were both really good! The place also have belly dancing starting at 7:30 on Fridays and Saturdays. I highly recommend this restaurant. Everything we ordered was delicious. I have tried Mediterranean food at other restaurants, and this place in my opinion has the best food. We ordered the chicken shawarma and falafel as an appetizer, they were both amazing. The shawarma comes wrapped in a thin pita bread, pickles, chicken, white cream (similar to yoghurt) and a few French fries are wrapped into the pita. The shawarma comes with French fries as a side. The quality of the food is great and the cost is affordable. This location has been home to many different restaurants (Asian, American to name a few), I really hope Ali Baba breaks the curse and lasts a while. I will definitely come back. read more

Gave them 3 stars only because I traveled from Los Angeles to ElPaso , to visit family. All week we have been eating out for dinner, mind you I like to spend money if it makes family happy . dinners have been over $ 200.00 so we decided on Ali baba for dinner tonight. Young ladies were so nice and accomidating, and recommended a few choices. I ordered 4 dinners with 2 skewers each and decided to add 2 more on each dinner and added rice , extra bread hummus tabuli salad and waited 30 mins for food and that was no problem. My bill came out to 174.00 and change with a tip, again no problem. Then I asked for 4 paper plates and forks and napkins. So we would not have to wash dishes on a Friday night. Young ladies said no problem, but then the older lady says from the kitchen looks at me and my wife and says as she speaks to girls we do not give out plates just napkins and forks no plates! I said I spent a lot of money plus a 15% tip and you guys cannot give me 4 paper plates. So the young ladies put the plates down and just looked at me. They seemed confused. I only write these review because come on people be a little more accomedating, 4 dam plates. I felt a little disappointed. Food was good , chicken a little to dry. Hummus was great. Boy what a great dining experience. The owners are Syrian and thus ensure every dish is authentic Mediterranean. We had a sampling of like 6 appetizers because we wanted to try everything in "tapa" style. Everything was superb, and especially the chicken wings glazed in a cilantro lemon sauce. We had an amazing lunch today! We ordered the veggie sampler for the table- it had fresh baba ghanoush, hummus, tzatziki, dolmas, falafel, tabbouleh, and really lovely pitas. My husband and I had lamb and beef shawarma entrees and my son had the lamb kebab. The meat was beautifully seasoned and tender, perfectly cooked. I also had the fresh cucumber mint lemonade and my son had the house iced tea and they were delicious. We got both the pistachio and walnut baklava for desserts - absolutely phenomenal. Would love to comment on the food but due to the fact two Gyros two kids meals and an appetizer is too large of an order I cannot. Drove 15 mins to pick up a togo order and they said it was to large to put in so they didn't have my food even started. Ok I'm a pretty good Greek/Mediterranean cook so translate that as "picky" and my family's taste-buds are well-trained. We were blown away at the flavors. The basics hummus, tabouli (grant you made in a food processor but the flavor is there), tzatziki, all the shawarmas... good. I don't order dolmades from restaurants because they only use rice and I make mine with lamb and mine are the best ever:) (warned you:). Now... "spinach pies" on the menu are just that...not spanakopita...so honestly named and to be avoided. Cheese burak and sfiha a meal unto themselves and tasty. Just ate here again for the second time in a week to make sure it wasn't a fluke. The food is fresh and terrific. We have tried the Greek salad with chicken (awesome dressing), chicken Schwarma, and chicken skewers. Even the hummus is probably the best I've ever had. Ordered the small falafel (which menu says comes with 5) and chicken schwarma sandwich. The falafel plate came with only 4. Not a big deal but when we brought it to our waiter's attention, he indicated it was a typo so it was basically our problem to overcome--made me wonder whether their prices were typos too. Great home cooked Mediterranean food! Wow the flavors are amazing and the portions are plentiful. The Hummus is delicious and homemade has an awesome creamy flavor! The Labneh was refreshing and just right. My husband has the Shish Tawouk and it was amazing moist and had the right flavoring. My two girls had the lentil soup and it was rich and wonderful. I ordered the Greek salad and the dressing was good not overpowering or salty or bitter. My son and I had gyros and they were so good they put pickle spears in them and gave it that extra mmm! We ordered fries but we didn't eat them with all the delicious food we got. They were more of a backup plan for the kids. The only thing I would not order again are the Falafels. I wanted to try the Kebbeh and these knocked the Falafels into left field. The Kebbehs are my favorite! They are fried ground beef with yogurt. The best thing about these are the minty aftertaste from the yogurt. Simply delicious, next time I will buy Dolmas. This place reminds me of Orens in the San Francisco Bay Area.
