What's the 411? Upon entering I was greeted with a warm welcome. The shop is pretty small. Just a few chairs to the left and really nowhere else to sit. I got the impression that this location is intended for quick pit stops for people on the go. Just about 12 feet from entering the door, you're at the counter. Menu is over head. What did I order? On this visit I ordered a Cloud Cream Espresso Latte. Processed my payment and my drink was prepared by the barista standing just behind my cashier. Before she could even ask, "would you like a receipt?" I kidd you not, he had my drink prepared. Service with a smile, absolutely delicious. I couldn't ask for more. Return of The Jedi? Would I, no doubt. Definitely tag this on a list of quality coffee shop stops whenever I'm in Abbot Kinney. Overall Thoughts? Unfortunately I do like a shop that offers a bit more seating as well as a restroom, therefore, I'm scoring this shop 4 stars. Purely due to lack of amenities. Coming here feels like a humiliation ritual. I've been in twice and both times, I was treated horrible tbh. The cashiers and baristas are genuinely just mean and rude. I feel like I'm being bullied for walking in the door. I'm always nice. I always tip. Pretty simple person but they're just mean, and they're mean and rude to everyone so I don't feel necessarily singled out. You genuinely couldn't pry a smile out of any of them, they're angry you're even in the shop, they're snarky, god forbid you ask a question about a menu item, I don't know why their employees are so miserable here, but they are. There's like 5 coffee shops on the block, this one is slightly more convenient, by no means better quality or better tasting, priced the same, and you're treated like crap. The absolute last time I come here. I'm not going to spend $10 on a cup of mid coffee to be treated like crap by your staff. They're genuinely just mean. I've worked in coffee shops, and currently work in retail, I've never once considered being so rude no matter how hard my job is. ESPECIALLY when the customer is actually being nice. TL;DR - tried the iced vanilla latte. Decent drink! It tastes exactly like what you'd expect :) Heard a lot about this place and finally was in the area to try it. I heard their vanilla latte is what puts them on the map. We got an iced vanilla latte to try and it was decent. Not bad but I'd probably try something else on their menu next time to explore their other options. It tasted exactly as one would expect from an iced vanilla latte (maybe a little less sweet). Service was very fast. We went earlier in the day when there weren't too many customers so seating was plentiful. It's right along a busy street so I imagine this place can get crowded. Finally tried the famous Alfred Coffee! One of my fav YouTubers Lindsay Rae said this is her fav matcha place so this has been on my list to try. Totally worth!!! I got the Iced Matcha with oatmilk and housemade syrup. I LOVE housemade syrups and girrrrrl this drink was FIRE! There are lots of treats and goodies around too including Wanderlust Ice cream, La Vain cookies, Erewahan (spelling), pizza place, the possibilities are endless lol. I recently visited this coffee shop and overheard what appeared to be a manager (guy looked late 20s) making a inappropriate comment about one of the young female employees' body. The employee laughed it off, but she seemed visibly uncomfortable. It felt very inappropriate and unprofessional, especially in front of both staff and customers. It created an awkward atmosphere, and it makes me wonder whether this kind of behavior is common in this workplace. First time at this location (usually go to the one on Admiralty) and it will be my last. Ordered my usual iced vanilla latte and she turned around and in 3 seconds said 'your order is ready'. Whose latte did she give me? It also didn't taste as good as it usually does. Idkkkk. Did not enjoy this experience and probably won't be back. First, the young lady at the counter was not very engaging and I felt like I was interrupting her phone scrolling. We ordered a world famous vanilla latte and it was delicious. We also ordered a vegan burrito. It was ice cold in the middle and when I asked for it to be warmed a little more, I got a feeling of annoyance from the young lady again and then, upon returning the burrito, it was so hot inside that we couldn't eat it and literally had to wait 10 minutes for it to cool down. I wanted to taste a 2 star but the food and drink did taste good and the barista was friendly when I picked up my latte. A note for the business, it would be nice if you called out a name when a drink is ready, rather than the order, as many people order similar drinks and you don't really know if it is your drink that is ready or someone else's. Every time I come to this coffee shop, Allie is on her phone and acts like helping customers is an inconvenience. Her attitude is consistently rude, unwelcoming, and unprofessional, which completely takes away from the experience. After dealing with it multiple times, I'd rather drive an extra 5-10 minutes to the Marina location, where the staff actually treats customers with respect and provides the level of service you'd expect. read more

The coffee did live up to its hype! I have been wanting to try Alfred coffee for months, and I stopped by the Venice location this morning. The iced oat milk lavender latte did not disappoint! It was just the right amount of sweetness (2 pumps of lavender syrup) without sacrificing solid coffee flavor. I can see myself visiting this and other Alfred locations in the future since the coffee was good. Service was fine. The inside has a few tables and there is seating outside as well. Parking could be tricky since this location is right off Abbot Kinney. I was lucky this morning and found street parking. Glad to see this LA chain doing well. read more

Extra syrup is also free too :) I love that the coffee here is super customizable (it's so easy on the app) down to the number of espresso shots, decaf options, milk options, and more. It was the perfect pick-me-up while shopping and walking around Abbot Kinney. We went around 4pm so I was really happy to see decaf as an option. There's a small amount of seating inside, and the worker was very nice and made the drink so quickly! My friend who was in town from up north was shocked that I had not only never been here but also that I had never heard of it! Inside you have your classic cutesy trendy coffee spot energy and outside you can sit and soak up the sun. I tried the item that "put them on the map" with their vanilla latte. Yes, it has been established that potatoes are a veggie, but a veggie breakfast burrito with some egg and mainly re-heated potatoes from yesterday is NOT what I was expecting. I kept looking for some other veggies to peak out, but in vain. So, good coffee, albeit too expensive/or too small for the price, and less than mediocre burrito. The burrito was over $20 with tax and this thing is dinky. With tax and tip, a small breakfast burrito and small matcha latte was over $30. That's insane. UGH, I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Oh Alfred, you are simply the best, you get me like no other. I want to keep marvel in your deliciousness forever and ever. But first, coffee. I order the same thing every time I visit Alfred and that's the Lavender latte because I have never gone wrong with a lavender latte and I know for certain Alfred will never let me go wrong as long as coffee is involved. The employees at this location are fine. I love the ambiance and all of the "But First, Coffee" messages around the store. Someday I will get the coffee cup that says "But First, Coffee" on it. I have to limit myself on even entering Alfred Coffee because I would be there multiple times a week and my wallet can't handle how good it is. Honestly, the prices are bit high but it's a super trendy spot so go figure. I've had the opportunity to try a number of the baked goods/pastries and I can honestly say - they're some of my favorite. For non coffee lovers, I thought their signature vanilla latte with macadamia milk was just ok. But don't trust my opinion if you are an avid coffee drinker. Tasted watery to me but my friend who ordered said it was good. My friends also tried the matcha with vanilla and Americano with foam on top and it was better than madhappy's. I wouldn't usually order matcha with sweetener but this one is ok. Definitely not my favorite. There is limited indoor seating depending on how busy it is of course and it is kind of sad how much ice they put in the drinks. read more
