I don't understand why the customer service is so poor. The food was okay, but with service like that, I would definitely think twice before coming back. It's also pretty expensive for what you get. For starters, they have free 1-hour parking (with validation) right next door which is a huge perk! Second, they're cash only. Third, this is definitely a local spot and despite a slight language barrier, the staff were incredibly warm & friendly. We ordered the Grande Pan con Bistec w Queso which is their large steak sandwich. We decided to split it and ended up ordering another sandwich midway through because it was that good. The sandwich is simple - steak, fries, onions, and cheese. The bread was the perfect texture and thickness, the steak was plentiful, the fries were salty & crispy, and the onions were tangy & bright. They're also known for their smoothies so we got two. Mamey is a tropical fruit tree native to southern Mexico and Central America. The flavor is closest to a melon, sweet potato, and caramel. I enjoyed this one but it's definitely on the sweeter side. Guanabana is soursop which is more custardy, sweet like banana and tangy like pineapple. I absolutely loved this one! This meal was so simple yet so satisfying. I highly recommend checking them out!

Prime example of a good restaurant gone bad…read more As you may have noticed that I was their first reviewer and gave them a good rating. Things have changed. Food quality is not great any more and service is horrible. I came in yesterday and ordered steak en cazuela which is basically steak in red sauce with refried beans and a salad to go. When picking up my order, I asked my server if she can give me an extra oder of avocado and that I would pay her whatever it is that they charge. She charged me a dollar extra and bought out a slice of avocado in aluminum foil. I opened it while I was there. It was a thin slice half turned brown. I bought it to her attention and she responded (what do you expect for a dollar an avocado salad cost 4 dollars. I would had gladly paid the 4 dollars but I did ask her if I could speak with the person preparing food in the back as to why they only gave me a small slice of avocado the was turning brown. She went in the back and came back out and told me that it was the owner who served it and that the owner refused to come out to talk to me. I was in shock as to the lack of respect and courtesy of the owner. I paid for my order and left. Need less to say I woke up with stomach aches. I feel that the food was not fresh. Unfortunately another restaurant that gets good reviews and it goes to their heads and goes bad.

My only reason for one less star today is I diverted from my usual shredded chicken variety and went with blackened chicken. Other than that, the experience here is a 10/10 every single time. The owner even calls me by my name! That's good service. Thank you Compadres
