If the owner is making the pie, you are in for a treat. If one of the teens is making the pies, you can go either way. It's a crapshoot. When it's on, there is a crust with crackle and great chew. The ratio of toppings is perfect, like the pizza has been made so many times that it just falls into place. Pepperoni is on point, and the pie is cut perfectly. So good! The hours are sort of iffy in the evening, especially if it's the kids. Call ahead, save yourself a headache. read more

Alexia's Pizza staff are always prompt in answering the phone. They are polite and efficient in taking my order and I have never had to wait for my pizza, ever. The pizza is great too! They are generous in their toppings, not the type of place where the more toppings you order the less you get of each individual toppings. Toppings should be by weight without fail. Fun low key place. I am gluten free so no bread or pizza and no gf bread options, however we improvise right? There are salads! Nothing gourmet but you are eat a meal here just ask for an item with the bread, say a sandwich. Prices good. Bathrooms in need of help tho, one was out of service and the other in need of things being fixed and upgraded. Must go up stairs to access the bathrooms. Just ordered two Italian Subs from here take a look at the pictures. This is what I got. This the least amount of sandwich I have received from anyplace that I have ever ate before. Not to mention that this is not and Italian Sub at all. Where is the Meat, Cheese and Vegetables? I describe the pizza here as something that strangely wants to be deep dish but doesn't have the qualifications to be so. Ordered a large sausage and pepperoni pie with a meatball sub to be shared among those in my group. The pie itself at first glance looked like it could have been really good as it was fully loaded with toppings. Upon further inspection (any by that I mean eating) the quality and quantity of the ingredients seemed off. Each slice seemed to have excessive tomato sauce and it tasted very tin-ny. Like right out of a can with no added flavor. There was also way too much mozzarella on each slice. The toppings seemed to also include bacon which wasn't what was ordered which was strange. The meatball sub looked great, the meatballs were tender but it also suffered from the same overload of not very good sauce and too much mozzarella. The service was fine and friendly. The environment was clean and welcoming. If Alexia works on their sauce and ratios, there is potential for something great. read more

Tasty pizza spot in a sleepy little town. The pictures on Yelp sold us and our pizza certainly didn't disappoint. We got half pepperoni half green pepper and spinach. The veggie half was my favorite by far - perfectly cheesy and lightly sauced. Not thick crust, but not too thin. We placed an order to go and picked it up about 15 mins later, nice and hot from the oven. It was about $15 for a large. Worth it! read more

I always hear stories of how awful pizza outside of the tri-state area is. I personally know better, having been to places all over the country. Alexia's is a perfect counterexample to this small-minded thinking. While the pizza is not as thin and crispy as the standard NY/NJ pie, the slightly thicker base and crust do this pizza good service. Sometimes you really want something fluffy and delicious like the base and crust from Alexia's. I really enjoyed the tangy, mild sauce. The slightly greasy, buttery cheese featured excellent browning and great flavor. I'm very happy with the pizza from Alexia's. I should also mention the fast service and friendliness of the staff. Ordered pizza to go. They were ready when they said they would be so that was good. Got them home and they were ok. Worth what we paid for them, but not "the best I've ever had". I'm not a huge pizza fan, so in truth don't go by me. Well if you want a pizza that is fine and doesn't cost a lot, go here. Very reasonably priced. Also got baklava. It was cheap. It also came from a freezer...something they purchased and portioned, not something they made. It was also fine. Worth the price paid. When we first began patronizing Alexia's in the mid to late nineties, we couldn't wait to get to Belfast and have our Friday night pizza. The dough was the best I've ever experienced. The fillings were copious, fresh, and rich. The last (and I do mean last) pie we had there was about two months ago. The owners are well advised to revisit old skills and recipes and to stop packaging to price by skimping on quality and flavor. What used to be a regional destination has devolved to a local desperation. One might as well stay home and eat crackers and ketchup. Whether a reflection of the lack of competition, or the cynicism that shuffles customer satisfaction into the dust bin, Alexia's management needs a weekend retreat that addresses what they have become. read more

I feel morally bound to bring up their average rating with my 5 stars. This is a great local place for a quick, affordable bite. They have a wide offering but we always get slices. Today we got 6 slices and 2 bottled drinks for under $15. You would pay $15 for lunch for one person at Chase's across the street but we fed three. Not fancy, and sure, they could stand to replace the carpet - but you need all types of places to serve a town and this one fills a very useful niche. Great for kids, in the heart of everything (i.e., nice view of main intersection through giant windows), relaxed and inexpensive. And very tasty! read more

On my trip to Maine last week, I couldn't shut up about how much fresh lobster and steamers I was going to eat. What a joy to finally get Maine's best offerings and how extravagant of a meal it is and I just couldn't wait one more moment for them. Meanwhile my dad went on and on in the same way about... cheese pizza. You know a place has good pizza when their plain cheese pie rocks. And Alexia's is pretty damn good. In fact, my dad says it's the best pizza he's ever had. We ordered takeout: half cheese half pepperoni. It was only $12 for a large, which was such a great value! I personally like thin crust or bubbly brick oven crust, but for a straight-forward greasy cheesy pizza, this was great. Crispy crust, balanced sauce (not too sweet or acidic), and lots of stretchy cheese. They have a lot of other offerings like pasta, subs, fried sides, salads, chicken dinners, burgers, and calzones. It was better than we expected - crust was nice and crispy though had a bit too much sauce for our liking. We got a large sausage and pepperoni pie, two slices with spinach (though they aren't able to do white slices), and a meatball sub. Calzones are delicious!!!! And huge. You could split one and each get a salad. The calzone has a slightly crunchy outer shell with some cheese baked on. The only thing that would make it better is some Italian seasoning on the outer part. Great menu options besides just pizza and calzones...subs and pasta and seasoned fries.
