I really wanted to like Alexander's. Their concept with their pizza mondays makes it for a fun evening in a such a cutely designed interior. We had a reservation for 6. We sat down pretty instantly which was great. Our waiter was friendly and explained everything on the menu pretty thoroughly. He mentioned pizzas would take about 40min which was fine. We ordered a few appetizers: the Brie and bread, bruschetta and the garlic bread. Those came out sporadically and tasted pretty good. Now for the pizzas. I took a bite of mine and it was like chewing cardboard. It was so hard and overdone that I couldn't even eat another slice. These slices were also tiny and thin so you'd figure it shouldn't be too hard to eat. I looked over at my friends and unfortunately two of them felt the same way. We just kept chewing and I felt like I was getting a defined jawline with all my chewing lol. We then lost our waiter for a good portion of the dinner. When we tried to pay we gave our card to another staff member since we couldn't find our guy. When our guy came back, he gave us the check we paid since we wanted to leave but then we had to chase down the initial staff member who we had given one of our cards to. Anyway we boxed everything up and left. The house wine was $5 and I hear the pasta was good though. Maybe it was a busy Monday but please please check those pizzas.

Visited last night with a large group of 15+ people on what already be a very busy night ($8 pasta night) and our server, I believe his name was Jesse, was absolutely WONDERFUL! We did make this reservation very far in advance for a birthday celebration, but we were seated promptly, every staff member we encountered was beyond friendly, and the food was delicious! What's as most impressive is that everyone's food came out essentially at the same time , all of it hot and it all looked fab! I picked a pasta with the vodka sauce and a couple additions and truly enjoyed it, the spicy Caesar was also delish! The ambiance on the patio seating is not to be missed, they even play old movies on the wall once the sun goes down. We will absolutely come back and thank you for making my MIL birthday celebration so wonderful

Came for Tuesday's pasta night and was very pleased with the dishes! I really enjoyed the lemon ricotta crema and the baked vodka bolognese. I recommend making a reservation for the Tuesday pasta night on Open Table. I would definitely come back again. It was an enjoyable experience! Parking can be kind of rough, may need to park a few blocks away.

Where has this restaurant been all my life! Coming here on a Monday or a Tuesday is a no brainer for a foodie on a budget! You practically get fed authentic Italian dishes for free. The restaurant is stunning, with beautiful candles, fresh flowers on every table, and a gorgeous waterfall outside. They normally play movies during dinner. We practically ordered everything on the menu and our bill was less than $50. $8 pizza on Mondays/ $15 for their speciality pizza, $7 salads, $2 beer, and $5 glass of wine?? Its wild!! Mind you, the service was 100/10! Everything came out quickly, even on a busy night, and multiple handsome servers came to check on us. We will definitely be regulars because I cannot stop raving about them!

I came for their Tuesday $8 Pasta night and I highly recommend your next happy hour/girls dinner night here! $5 house red and white wine (Pinot Grigio was their house white and it was yummmmy) For their $8 pasta selection -- I ordered the spaghetti w. meat sauce and added mushrooms. The food was really amazing! I was nervous it wasn't going to be as good because of how good the deal was itself - but I highly recommend you to come and try it out! There are also appetizers that they have on the menu for $5-7 that are also worth trying! I ordered the caprese. it seems like it's pretty packed here so make a reservation in advance or get here early!

Been here multiple times for both their Monday Build Your Own Pizza Night and Tuesday Build Your Own Pasta Night. Both nights feature $5 glasses of house wine and $2 beers. I personally prefer Pasta Night. My favorite dish is the Lemon Ricotta Signature Pasta. They also offer deals on select appetizers and salads. I highly recommend trying the cheesy garlic bread, Rustico Salad di Casa, and the beet goat cheese salad. I also love that I can enjoy a meal out with friends while staying lowcarb by ordering a salad topped with a side of protein. They offer both indoor dining and outdoor patio dining in the back. Their patio is super charming and decorated with romantic string lights, making it a great spot for date night. The staff are always warm, welcoming, and friendly, which makes the experience even better! The only downside is the tiny parking lot. The last few times I've visited, it was completely full so I had to park a few streets away.

Words can't describe how much I love Alexander's! It's my favorite place in San Diego and I've been coming here for the past 10 years. I decided to celebrate my birthday here with my girl friends since it's an intimate place! The servers were so nice and friendly. We sat on the patio on Monday where they were streaming Legally Blonde! The food was perfect and by the end of the night they brought out a large cutting board with an assortment of desserts. After we were done the servers did not hesitate to come out of the restaurant and asked us if we wanted our picture taken. She even went out on the street to make sure we had the perfect shot. 10/10 would always recommend Alexander's.

Came here on a Tuesday with my girlfriends and this place is bussssssssy. We were one of the last parties seated for the night and it was still a full house. Important to note that while Tuesdays are promoted as $8 Make-Your-Own pasta dishes. The $8 only covers the noodle and a marinara or meat sauce. If you want additional ingredients like special sauce, protein or even veggies, it's an extra charge for each item. Regardless, I do still think the meal overall tasted delicious! Perfect spot for a nice date or girls night

I came here with a friend for the Tuesday happy hour deal ($8 pastas and $5 wine). It was busy, but thankfully we made a reservation and didn't have to wait. Ambiance: great place for friends, date night, special occasion. We sat in the outdoor patio area and there were heaters around which kept us warm and cozy. Didn't love the bathroom situation; there are 2 bathrooms but they aren't really next to each other and there's not a lot of room to wait so it was a bit awkward to stand in the middle of the hallway and in front of other tables while waiting. Service: efficient, nice, friendly Food: The $8 sound enticing and gets you in the door, but be aware that it's for the bare minimum pasta (pasta + marinara/meat sauce). If you want protein, cheese, veggies, etc, there are extra charges. I ended up just getting the $16 Baked Vodka Bolognese since I thought the value was better than the buid-your-own. It was hot, cheesy deliciousness. My friend and I split the garlic bread which is this warm, crispy bread that comes with garlic sauce, and it was only $2! What a steal! We didn't order any wine so can't comment on that. Parking: Not great. Come early to account for this. Parked a few blocks away. It wasn't too bad, but it was very dark, so I had to use my phone flashlight for some of it. Overall, not the most amazing pasta I've ever had, but it's solid. $2 garlic bread is worth it.

Really enjoyed our anniversary dinner here! Came on a Wednesday about 20 minutes earlier than our reservation time and got seated right away. We were able to find easy free street parking no problem about a block away around 6:30pm. The host and our waitress were lovely. We received complimentary garlic bread to start. The garlic and buttered side was SO good, but after that it's just plain dry bread, and we wished more of it had the garlic buttery goodness! The absolute star of the show was the lasagne, it was so flavorful, delicious, and filling! The vodka bolognese was what I was most excited about, but my preference for vodka sauce is creamier and thicker so it sticks to the noodle, where this was pretty thin and seemed to slide off for the most part. Once the sunset, it was SO dark in the restaurant. I wanted to pick around the mushrooms in the vodka bolognese, but literally had to turn on my phone flashlight because I couldn't clearly see in front of me without it. Only other note is we did select the option when making the reservation to indicate that it was our anniversary, but there was no mention of it in any way shape or form. I don't even need a free dessert or anything, but even just simply saying "happy anniversary" from anyone who worked there and saw our reservation note would've gone a long way.

Chicken piccata, very good!
Linda H.

I visited with a group, ordering the Chicken Piccata. My entree was very good, lots of flavor, but the sauce was a little thin for my taste. But I'm no piccata oficianado! It was full of capers and mushrooms, very enjoyable. But I have to say, the complimentary garlic bread stole the show!!! I would return for that, alone. I had a glass of Tuscan Chianti to round it off. Service was excellent. There was a romantic vibe to the place, I think it would be great for date night.

My friends and I came for Pizza Mondays with $2 beer, $5 wine, and $8 build your own pizzas with a couple dollars for each extra you add. It's a beautiful restaurant and has a very cute patio with heat lamps and string lights. The servers were helpful and friendly. We made two build your own pizzas and both were delicious. With an appetizer or two, the two pizzas were enough for our group of six. There are no reservations on Monday and Tuesday for pizza and pasta nights so the wait was about 45 minutes but if you plan to walk around North Park for a while or get a drink elsewhere while you wait it can work out fine. They included a 20% tip built into the bill, so check for that when calculating whatever tip you may wish to leave. Lovely experience, I'll definitely be coming back!

Angel hair with marinara, pancetta & mushrooms
Marissa D.

Pretty disappointing. Came for their $8 pasta Tuesday night and ordered an ANGEL HAIR MARINARA with pancetta & mushrooms and then a RIGATONI MARINARA with chicken. Both were just lackluster sauce that tasted out of a can and the mushrooms were so huge and chewy. Also got their garlic bread to start and there was only garlic on the first slice so the rest was just bread. Glad I came for their discount pasta night and not their regular priced menu.

Despite mostly every seat in the bar and dining area being full, the service was top notch and we always felt attended to. Let me just say that our waiter Eduardo was an absolute GEM, and when we go back, I will be requesting to sit in his section again! He was efficient, professional, engaging, and got us so excited about the menu. When I took my phone out to take a photo of the meal, Eduardo took his own phone out to shine a flashlight and give us the best lighting. He's a pro!! They start you off with complimentary bread and two delicious dipping sauces - a spicy red sauce that's only served on weekends, and a basic pesto made of just basil and olive oil that we were drooling over. We shared the calamari and meatball appetizers to start, and I loveddd the parmy red sauce the meatballs were served in. We're big sauce fans in this household, and absolutely every dish had lots of decadent, flavorful sauce. For our mains, we shared the Piccante pizza, Arucola salad, pesto pasta, and vodka pasta on special. Everything was superb. My only note is that the vodka sauce tasted more like a tomato cream sauce. It's still delicious, but it didn't have that same vodka sauce flavor I'm used to. The salad was SO fresh and perfectly complimented the decadent carby counterparts. They offer to top all dishes with fresh parm as well, yes please!! We ordered two bottles of wine over the course of the night, and Eduardo + other staff members never let our wine or water glasses get empty. I truly felt like I was being spoiled all night! The cherry on top was the dessert at the end of the night. Cannolis are my FAVE, and my fiancé had never tried one before so it was such a special treat. The lemony limoncello was moist and yummy as well! At the end of the evening since we had 2 couples going to different homes and lots of leftovers, they were kind enough to evenly split the leftovers so we each got to bring some home! And on to the best part... in the excitement of the evening, I grabbed our box of leftovers and my jacket, but not my purse. Clearly I needed an excuse to come back. When I came the next day to get my purse, I was told Eduardo ran down the street trying to look for me to return it! You cannot get better service than this!

Service is good; the servers are very enthusiastic about recommendations. They seem to tend to make small talk in case that's not your style. Caprese - They use an excellent quality burrata. Rich and milky and paired great with their heirloom tomatoes. 3. Squid ink pasta - Lots of fresh seafood. Light tomato sauce for those who aren't into cream sauce. 4. Pumpkin mushroom lasagna special - Don't be discouraged by the pumpkin, the flavor is very mild. Adds the barest hint of sweetness. Very cheesy, overall a solid lasagna. 5. Ear pasta with sausage - Came highly recommended as one of their most popular items. I loved it! It's like a combo sausage pizza in pasta form, and I say this very positively. I love the crunchy broccoli pieces which add a different texture and some sweetness. The cream sauce is super savory and not terribly heavy. The sausage has a fennel flavor which some might not be for everyone but I was a fan. 6. Osobucco with mushroom tagliatelle - Well executed. the osobucco is just slightly on the milder side. The tagliatelle was also delicious, a nice light cream sauce with lots of umami mushroom flavor. The only negative to me was the bread. A little dry, not served very hot. They make all their pasta fresh in house which is a nice plus. Overall a great meal. If you go, you have to try the Pappardelle Montanara or the Gnocchi Funghi e Guanciale. I'm normally not even a gnocchi person, but you can absolutely tell the gnocchi is made from scratch, and it is SO, SO good! Do yourself a favor and give this place a try. You won't regret it

I was having a Monday...on a Monday! It was just one thing after another! I really needed…read moresomething to lift my spirits and Fortuna came to mind. Always a warm and friendly greeting when I come in with Cako. A friend of mine met up with us so I could vent...LOL! The front patio is great! I don't know if Giuseppe saw my pain, because he brought out some prosecco on the house! That was very kind! Ok, I felt better already! We did order a bottle of Rappaio, which is from a winery near Giuseppe's hometown, because a bottle was needed...LOL! I ordered the pappardelle with an assortment of meats and this was soooooooo good! My first time having it! DJ had the brasato over saffron rice and said it was amazing! As always, bruschetta to start. This was a great way to end the day! And as always.... Cako Approves!
