I have been a customer for over 10 years and have continued to absorb the "random" price increases…read morefor the various units I have rented. Recently, I moved into a 5x10 unit at a monthly payment of $72.14. I have been in the unit for 4 months and just received an increase to $110 per month. Nothing has changed with the unit, no inherent value increase has occurred-simply a rate increase. My local contact, Amber, told me she could do nothing and if I were going to move out of my unit to do so before my next payment was due. She made ZERO effor to maintain my business, but when asked, did refer me to District Lead, Renee to escalate my concern. That was another massive waste of my time! Renee maintained my position that I would be paying over a 50% monthly increase was incorrect. My rent was only going up to $88. Semantic! My out of pocket monthly payment is going up $38 - FOR NO GOOD REASON! She told me I was brought in to my current unit on a "special" pricing deal, which was never told to me when I downsized from my previous unit and the increase reflected the "true" monthly cost plus the increase, insurance and tax (which are 2 parts already included in the $72 I currently pay). Her only offer was to raise my monthly rent to $75++, which would still make my monthly payment over $100. I told her I had found 3 different rentals for less than I was paying per month from them and was curious how Extra Space's industry algorithm that is based on market conditions and competitor's availability still maintained a price increase for the sake of price increases. She had no response, said that was the best she could do but didn't want to lose my business! LOL! Maintain my current monthly rate & I would happily stay, but she has no ability to create that level of customer satisfaction. DO NOT RENT FROM EXTRA SPACE STORAGE!!! I will never do business with them again and I will steer anyone I know looking for storage away from them.

1 Star -- A Terrible Moving Experience…read more I cannot recommend this moving company. Our experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish. The movers were rude, unhelpful, and unnecessarily rough with our belongings and our new home. At one point, we asked one of the movers to please be more careful with our walls. His response was, "What do you want to do, this yourself?" That response was incredibly disrespectful and completely unacceptable, especially when we were simply asking them to take reasonable care of our home. There were also significant problems with our belongings. A number of items were misplaced, and some table legs were eventually found in the company's Lost and Found. When the company offered to return them, they were left at our old address rather than our new address, which was yet another unnecessary problem we had to deal with. Even more frustrating, the movers left a substantial amount of our belongings at our old address, telling us they didn't have enough room in the truck. This included heavy items such as our treadmill and rugs. We were then forced to spend several additional hours and our own money hiring another moving van to retrieve and move the items ourselves. When I contacted the company about receiving some compensation for the problems we experienced, I was asked to sign an NDA agreeing not to speak negatively about the company in exchange for receiving some money back. I found that extremely troubling. After such a poor experience, I believe customers should be able to honestly share what happened to them rather than being asked to agree to silence in order to receive compensation. Moving is stressful and expensive enough without having to deal with careless handling of your belongings, items being left behind, belongings being misplaced, disrespectful behavior, and then additional out-of-pocket expenses to fix problems that shouldn't have occurred in the first place. I would be extremely hesitant to use this company again and would strongly encourage anyone considering them to look carefully at other options. This was one of the worst customer service experiences we've had, and I cannot recommend this company based on what happened to us.
