1 Star -- A Terrible Moving Experience I cannot recommend this moving company. Our experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish. The movers were rude, unhelpful, and unnecessarily rough with our belongings and our new home. At one point, we asked one of the movers to please be more careful with our walls. His response was, "What do you want to do, this yourself?" That response was incredibly disrespectful and completely unacceptable, especially when we were simply asking them to take reasonable care of our home. There were also significant problems with our belongings. A number of items were misplaced, and some table legs were eventually found in the company's Lost and Found. When the company offered to return them, they were left at our old address rather than our new address, which was yet another unnecessary problem we had to deal with. Even more frustrating, the movers left a substantial amount of our belongings at our old address, telling us they didn't have enough room in the truck. This included heavy items such as our treadmill and rugs. We were then forced to spend several additional hours and our own money hiring another moving van to retrieve and move the items ourselves. When I contacted the company about receiving some compensation for the problems we experienced, I was asked to sign an NDA agreeing not to speak negatively about the company in exchange for receiving some money back. I found that extremely troubling. After such a poor experience, I believe customers should be able to honestly share what happened to them rather than being asked to agree to silence in order to receive compensation. Moving is stressful and expensive enough without having to deal with careless handling of your belongings, items being left behind, belongings being misplaced, disrespectful behavior, and then additional out-of-pocket expenses to fix problems that shouldn't have occurred in the first place. I would be extremely hesitant to use this company again and would strongly encourage anyone considering them to look carefully at other options. This was one of the worst customer service experiences we've had, and I cannot recommend this company based on what happened to us. read more

I would give them zero stars if I could. They moved us and it was a disaster from the start. Then they damaged our furniture and admitted fault. Please note we paid for additional insurance to cover up to $15,000 worth of damage. I spent weeks trying to get in touch with someone. Jovelyn who was barely responsive. The company would screen my calls. Then finally the GM, Scott, took over my case. The company admitted fault and took responsibility, then the company agreed to replace our furniture that was damaged/broken (I have proof) and then Mike (whom till this day refuses to return my calls) decided I had to file a claim through this CSI company that investigates claims. After waiting almost 2 weeks for Jovelyn to get me the information I needed to file, I complete one. Then I contacted Moving Ahead Services MULTIPLE times because no one from this CSI claims ever reached out to me or answered my emails/calls after I filed. It's now August 22nd, I moved June 13, and I'm still sleeping on a bed on the floor because my bed frame was snapped in half. Disabled veteran here, small woman, 5 feet tall and disabled. I hired Moving ahead because it was recommended. This is my doctors note the next day "Patient presents with complaints of right sided body pain since yesterday. This is about the same and not worsening. Patient states that she had hired a moving service to help move a lot of heavy items to her home. She states that she originally agreed to pay a certain price but yesterday when they arrived they wanted her to pay more money for them to move heavier things such as barrels and bags. She states that she refused to pay them so they left her stuff in the street. She states that she had no other way to move the items so she forced herself to move all of her things. She states that she used the right side of her body to help move and push the items. She states that now since then she has had pain to the right shoulder, side hip, leg and lower back. This increases with movement. Pain can radiate up the back and down the righ leg. " Nuff said! but I wanna state that it was a combination of Tina and Tim that literally tried to "milk The clock " not work -stand around while the one employee Jamison was busting his behind all by himself literally ...while the other bully Tim was standing above me, (while I was packing or even in front of my building )not working ! wasting time, charging me per minute, while standing still waiting for money letting minutes pass and then billing you for that !!!!practically as I reminded him he was" wasting time" (7 hour job - should have been left in its completion ) he took 7 hours and still couldn't compleate it ...btw I payed for 7hours $1500.00...! We had them move us from Wickliffe to Concord, they were very professional. Their biggest obstacle was moving our elliptical out of our tiny basement, they tried their best to move it without taking it apart but it just wouldn't fit up our tiny stairs. They took it apart and put it back together again at the new place and you'd never know it was disassembled. They were clean, wrapped everything at the old place and unwrapped at the new. We used Move Aheads Services in July of 2023 to move us from Cleveland, OH, to CT. They stored our items for a month in between. The people were friendly, customer service started off good enough. Unfortunately the move itself was below average at best. They misplaced a bunch of different, high value items (cushions for our couch, our TV, our peloton screen). Took them weeks to find (it was apparently left in the wrong container), and ultimately a box of kitchen stuff was never found. There was also a LOT of damage. Our crib was broken, a dresser broken, peloton wires were frayed, our smoker was damaged, our bedframe was missing a key metal support beam. They were plenty apologetic but we never got damages back or any form of credit for the issues. Really wanted to like them given their great reviews, affordability, and how friendly the people were but we kept finding damaged items for months. So let me tell you my experience. The movers were very friendly. We fed them, gave them pretty hefty tips. A lot of our stuff was broken, stacked poorly. We are missing items. I was dodged by their manager Scott, whom after a week finally just reached out to the general manager who was little to no help. We had our stuff moved into storage and by the time we found a house to buy, we were out of our claim window. How are we supposed to see what's broken when it's packed so tight? We paid for extra coverage which apparently doesn't matter. If you want your stuff broken, gone missing with a company that'll deny every and all responsibility for the stuff they broke and lost, this is your company. They had a 30 foot storage unit to work with and packed everything poorly and so tightly we couldn't see if anything was damaged. So you purchase coverage and then can't even use it. Impossible to get ahold of anyone too, I email the general manager asking if he could call me so we could discuss all this, and just sends me a text which is posted. Super professional. After seven months passed -- March through November -- and many attempts with Scott -- the broken glass top to the end table was never taken care of (they apparently measured wrong because the first attempt the glass didn't fit, so I believe the person who measured didn't know how or the company making it goofed; the next it was broken -- if my memory serves me right -- I've dealt with chemo due to cancer), it was necessary to purchase another end table. I was texted by Scott that I'd be compensated if I replace the glass myself, but I'm sick and elderly. I paid $50 to Moving Ahead for protection that they didn't honor and I'm too exasperated to reach out anymore, so I would never recommend this company. read more

Used them three times now, once for local move, twice for across state moves. First two times things were great, no complaints. Third time I had to file a claim because the truck driver knocked over the mailbox at our new house with his new truck. Filing a claim with this company sends you to a 3rd party claims business that conveniently never gets back to you. I called Moving Ahead multiple times telling them I never heard back from the claims company, they told me its out of their hands. It's not, if they cared they could have reimbursed me and then worked it out with their claims company that they do business with and can obviously reach. I really thought this was a good reliable company, but only if you never have to get anything reimbursed. Ironically, we paid the extra money for full coverage on our move but highly recommend you dont do that because getting the claim and money back is not guaranteed. read more

Zero stars! Overpriced. Shady. Damaged brand new Arhaus bedroom set, west elm office furniture, mattress wet and dirty, gouged our wood floors from sliding furniture. No care whatsoever! Waiting to be contacted by supposed insurer for claim, it's been weeks. You really are better off with 100 dollars and a uhaul. Avoid this company. They are quick to collect the money before you have a chance to assess damage, but good luck getting compensated for damages. They came highly recommended by a friend who used them in 2020. Definitely 0 star. Here is the fact: Moved from 1 bedroom apartment to 1 bedroom apartment, 1 mile away, and both buildings have a freight elevator. I packed everything except big furniture such as a sofa and hired three moving crews, which took 4 hours, and I paid $1187.82. My friends and family including myself were very SHOCKED that I paid that much to move into a new place that was "1 MILE AWAY" from my previous one. I decided to hire movers since I have 82'' sofa. I will tell you ALL I had for this moving: 5 small boxes, 10 Medium boxes, 2 Large boxes, 4 Extra large boxes, 4 carriers, 3 stools, 2 office chairs, 9 plastic boxes, 1 small desk (light), 3 floor stands (light), 1 rug, 1 tv box, 1 tv table, 1 night stand, 2 mirrors, 1 mattress, 1 bed frame (disassembled), 1 headboard, and sofa. Pros: the guys arrived on time. No hidden fees. Cons: 1. Unprofessional moving crews: when you arrived at the place, one person usually talks to you about the paperwork, and the others start to move boxes using a dolly. But all of my movers just came to my place with bare hands and check my stuff first, which already wastes about 15 minutes doing nothing. Surprisingly, three moving crews only brought 1 dolly, which I do not understand. I brought them 2 extra dollies which belong to my previous apartment. The movers used AMAZING moving methods: they first move boxes from the unit to the front door of my unit. They then moved boxes from the door to the front of the freight elevator, move them into the elevator, unload them from the elevator, and finally brought them into the truck. They put them down and up at least THREE times. I really packed everything, disassembly my bed frame, and moved big sofa cushions in advance, hoping to save some time. It turned out it took 2 hours to move everything from my original place to the truck. They said that it won't take this long when unloading but it was. Since they spent too much time in my original place, they missed the scheduled time to use the freight elevator in my new place which made the process longer. 2. Failure of true additional time: They said 2 hours is minimum (Monday - Thursday) and additional time is prorated into 15-minute increments. But you are not the one who tells the office the total time. All process was messed up, unprofessional, and very much shocking. Maybe I was unlucky to have this experience, but it is really questionable whether the company trains their moving crews properly. I am very frustrated, upset, and regret choosing this company for my move. I spent more than I expect, and they really ruined my new start. Lastly, I attached pictures of how the movers also damaged my boxes and especially the sofa. they drag my sofa so that my fabric got polluted and the wooden frame inside the fabric got cracked. I received consistent and communication from the company throughout the process, with timely and relevant emails and text messages. HOWEVER, upon the delivery of my contents to my new address in Georgia, there was one item that was damaged. The fact that it was damaged wasn't really an the MAIN issue for me. For reference I moved from a one bedroom apartment on the second floor (that had a service elevator) to a three bedroom, multi-family home on the second floor. The move took a total of 6 hours. I'm not sure if that's reasonable given the size of my apartment or the amount of furniture I have, but I feel like that's quite a long time to move a one bedroom apartment. I noticed that one trip to load the truck took an unusually long time, so I went to check and I saw the movers chatting with a maintenance worker. I'm not sure how long they had been chatting or if the movers took breaks like that throughout the loading of the truck, but I was disappointed. Once the truck was loaded (a total of three hours after they arrived), I was to meet them at my new place. I was told they would stop and grab a bite to eat, but that would be deducted from my total. Once they arrived, there was some trouble getting the truck into the driveway. During the process, the driver managed to bump into the gutter on the side of the house, causing damage (which I will be contacting them about Monday morning). A neighbor was kind enough to move his car so the truck could fit, then they unloaded the truck. I didn't notice any unusually long trips, but it took them a total of three hours to unload the truck. When I received my final bill, there was no mention of a deduction of time for the food they did (or didn't) stop for. I received no confirmation that they stopped on the way or drove straight to the house. All in all, my items are moved. I wish it hadn't taken so long or that there would've been a third person to help. I'm disappointed that it cost so much and took such a long time, especially when I was only quoted for the 2 hour minimum and the movers were quoted 2-4 hours. read more

The movers did a great job! I needed to hire someone to help me move some heavy furniture between different floors of my home. Their quote was the best - the others I got were quite a bit higher. It can be difficult to find companies to take on smaller jobs. They called to let me know they were running late (which was fine, I had planned to spend most of the day on this) but got to work immediately when they arrived. They did not waste any time and completed the work in the timeframe that was quoted to me. They were careful with my items and made sure to place everything exactly where I needed it. They were quick when taking apart some of the pieces that could not be moved in one piece and then putting them back together.
