they moved this gate, cleared out an overgrown area before laying this pet friendly turf around the concrete they also poured.

We just finished a big project with Alexander & Sons and highly recommend them. They handled a complex demo, new fences, extensive hardscaping and landscaping, irrigation, and a dog-friendly turf area. I feel like I felt when we finally found an honest, reliable auto shop for our cars. Paul and his crew are all kind and talented, and we had no surprises or crazy change orders. A refreshing change from others we've enountered in the area. We have already recommended Alexander & Sons to friends and neighbors. Oh, and they were far less expensive than others had quoted us.

This is our second project we Completed with Paul And Alexander & sons. They did a real great job. Their attention to details is unmatched. Paul gives a fair quote and informs you in advance if Additional work is needed. The team sticks to a timeline. Overall had a great experience

We love our new backyard and front entry way! Paul and his team at Anderson & Sons took a blank back yard (nothing but dirt) and transformed it into a beautiful and livable space for us. They also revamped our crowded front entry way (too many bushes and a not-so-easy-to-walk-on pathway and landing to the door) into a open and airy mini garden leading to the home. We couldn't be more pleased! Throughout the process, Paul was very communicative and quickly responded to our inquiries. There was a lot of old concrete in both the front and back yard for them to demo and haul away before framing and pouring all new concrete (stamped and brushed) in both yards for the patio, walkways, and fire pit area. New tile work on the front porch, trees, bushes, lighting, and a drip system. Anderson & Sons did it all. As with any large project, there were a few minor hiccups along the way - mostly having to do with unanticipated discoveries during construction. Also, dealing with the city to coordinate the gas line for our fire pit as well as the utility companies required a bit of effort on our part, but it was a small time-price to pay for the end result. Anderson & Sons is not the least expensive of the landscaping companies out there and we did end up spending a little more than we had originally anticipated, but the cost overruns were largely due to changes and additions we made during implementation. Their GC Paul Sarkis is a great guy, ensures everyone is on the same page when it comes to implementing the plan, and keeps you informed as to the progress of the project and any adjustments that may arise along they way. He's friendly, easy to talk to, and stopped by the job site nearly every day to oversee the progress and talk to us to ensure everything was going according to our liking. All in all, their work is superb and our yards turned out beautifully. I would highly recommend Anderson & Sons.

We are so happy with the result!! I created a design and Paul made it a reality. I got 3 quotes and chose Alexander and Sons because of the communication, transparency, and my gut told me to go with them. There were a couple added charges on top of the final quote, which was expected and budgeted for. They finished earlier than estimated, which was great!!! We now get to enjoy our outdoor space.

Our family is very pleased with the work done by Alexander and Sons. They completed a beautiful full landscape redesign and implementation at our home. This included all steps of the project including concept, design, preparation, demolition of existing concrete (patio, driveway, etc.) and all steps of the new project. This was an extensive project. We were kept informed regularly of the status, next steps, and any decisions required. Workers arrived on time, were well-mannered, performed their work well and in the time specified. The job site was well-organized and kept clean. We enjoyed working with the team and are thrilled with the results which fully met our expectations. We now have a very pleasant garden and yard to enjoy with family and friends and are happy to recommend Alexander and Sons.

Very pleased with stamped concrete (stone grey, Roman slate) driveway and herringbone brick path!
    Bob M.

Very pleased with the job that Paul and team did! They installed a new driveway with stamped concrete and a curvy brick path (see photo). It has gotten so many compliments from neighbors and complete strangers! The demo and concrete were done in just a few days. The herringbone brickwork took quite a bit longer, but was totally worth it. Everyone was very professional, and Paul was especially responsive by email and phone. One hiccup was that the water main was broken in the demo because it was directly beneath the old concrete, instead of a foot or so below. No problem. Paul had a plumbing team out the same day and got the water back on by evening. And the water main needed to be upgraded to copper anyway. Would definitely hire Paul and company again!

From the very first phone call, we could tell he knew his craft. He spent generous time listening to our wish list and understanding our vision, explaining the design/build timeline, and answering every "what if" we threw his way. We also loved his design work in his portfolio of course. Shortly after we engaged Taylor, he was on site taking detailed measurements, photos, and even drone shots of our entire front and backyard. He flagged any potential sloping issues, suggested realistic solutions, and connected us to his trusted referral that could further help us. Any time we had follow up questions, he made himself available and responded quickly - no hard sell, just clear information. Although we weren't able to go forward with the full project due to unexpected yard and budget constraints, Taylor handled the change with total professionalism and never made us feel pressured. The insight we gained from his preliminary work was helpful and will be very useful for when we decide to continue with the project in the future. If you are looking for a knowledgeable, responsive, and genuinely easy-to-work-with design partner, we'd highly recommend giving Taylor at Applewood a call.

Another very happy customer of South Bay Design and Landscaping…read more We had South Bay out to do a full demolition of the existing "landscaping" from when we bought our house and the installation of an entirely new plan from our landscape designer (check out Dawn Engel- she's great!), which included a patio space, a pergola, driveway extensions, hogwire fence, raised planter beds, and a side gate added to our existing fence. These guys do not mess around. Demolition went insanely quickly, and our property was kept neat and tidy the entire time. We never once saw dirt tracked anywhere by the crew, which we can't say the same for any of the other contractors we've worked with (and we're actually quite happy with some of them!), and which becomes even more insane to think about when you consider the nature of landscaping work. Installation went as smoothly as South Bay possibly could have made it. Any time we ran into the occasional hiccup, as happens with all nontrivial projects, Matt, Danny, and Marcus offered thoughtful suggestions and made sure to confirm exactly what we wanted before proceeding. (We had either or both of Matt and Danny on-site most days of our project, and interacted with Marcus via email.) We were delayed a smidge by some heavy rain, but the crew worked through all but the worst of it (talking "if you step in that mud, you're going to lose a boot" type of rain). Partway through the install, we discovered that the previous landscapers had managed to make the L-shaped pathway leading from our driveway to our front door square with nothing- which wasn't easily noticed until we had the planter beds in and hogwire fence line chalked out. (South Bay had laid those out properly square to the driveway and house, as per our plan.) Matt, Danny, and crew were thankfully able to accommodate our request to fix our pathway up by picking up each segment and pushing the out-of-square part over by 4-6 inches; this added about a week of extra time to our project, mostly due to the fact that not all of the pavers could be reused, and that the pavers had actually been discontinued (!). The guys worked around this by sourcing very similar pavers in a different size, and basically cutting and grinding them to match our existing pavers. Post-install, the only way you'd know there are two different pavers in our pathway is if you'd seen it being taken apart and rebuilt. Plants, irrigation, and lighting all went in straightforwardly after the hardscaping work was finished, and Danny gave us a complete walkthrough of all our new outdoor systems. It's been about a week since our project was completed; the plants are all thriving, and we're still ecstatic about our new yards (and so are our neighbors!). In short: we had a fantastic experience working with South Bay Design and Landscaping for our landscaping project. They take pride in doing a quality job, and it shows in everything from demolition to day-to-day jobsite management to the finished project. If you're looking for landscapers, these are your guys. (Special thanks to Matt and Danny for graciously handling my incessant "are you sure you didn't forget about such-and-such little detail?" questions and never once forgetting about any of the details, and also to Sergio for spending basically an entire Saturday morning troubleshooting what ultimately turned out to be a manufacturing issue with our pergola.)

I got a couple of quotes through Yelp, but ultimately decided to go with Kay Green -- and I'm so glad I did. It took Young and his crew about a day and a half to complete the project. I live in a townhouse community, and they were very respectful of the shared space. They did an excellent job cleaning up the carport area they used for their equipment and materials. We ran into a few unexpected issues during the project, but Young was always upfront about what was happening and communicated his solutions clearly. His recommendations were thoughtful and turned out great. I would definitely use Kay Green again for any future landscaping projects and will happily recommend them to family and friends!

They ruined and broke numerous branches while admitting that these plants are very delicate. They rushed the job that should have been at least two hours and finished in one hour. I should have stopped them after the owner told me to go inside and they will let me know when they were done. You never tell someone that's paying you $500 dollars to take your time and do a professional job to go inside. I should have told him to get the F off of my property and hired someone else. I would have been better off hiring men from Home Depot. Totally unprofessional, rushed the job, ruined a couple of plants and didn't give a shit how it looked, even after I showed the owner the damaged plants and all the broken branches only to find more as the branches dried out in the weeks to come. He tells me the plants are delicate, but yet they didn't treat them that way. I will never hire this unprofessional company again and recommend that you don't hire them either. They have plenty of help to do a good job, but refuse to do so. This was a total rip off job to the tune of $500. I'm so sorry I hired this clown to do this job, every time I look at what they did it makes me sick and pissed that I didn't throw them off my property and paid them nothing. I've waited weeks to write this review, in hopes that the job would look better, but it doesn't. Thanks a lot, KAY GREEN LANDSCAPING FOR DOING A SHITTY JOB AND TELLING ME TO GO INSIDE. I should have kicked your ass to the curb and told you to take a hike.
