Yesterday was the third or fourth time I have been to Ale's Kitchen which is in Straight to Ale Brewery on Campus 805. My Sorority Sister and I went there after my hair appointment around the corner. Last time I was here, my group of sorority sisters enjoyed their house made BBQ chips, Montreal poutine, Asian ribs, and fries. The poutine and ribs were bit hits for our group of four. I recall the giant pretzel I had on my visit here with my coworkers. It came with the bro jo beer cheese dip that I recall being delicious and my Sister and I decided to order the Bacon Wrapped Pretzel Bites app., which is described as "bite-sized pretzel pieces wrapped in bacon with hot honey and bro jo cheese sauce." I typically don't like sweet anything, and I did not care for the "hot honey." If you don't care for sweet either, ask for the sauce on the side. As it was I could sort of cover the sweetness of the honey sauce with the cheese dip. The bacon was cooked well and managed to stay crispy, which was good! We split the Cheesesteak sandwich described as "thinly sliced grilled ribeye, sauteed onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms in melty white American cheese served on a toasted hoagie roll with a choice of side." We went with fries as the side and 86d the mushrooms. Thank goodness for the fries, which were good! This sandwich was a crime against sandwiches! If you've ever had the unfortunate experience of eating Steak-umms, then you know what I'm talking about! I think Ale's Kitchen86d all the toppings except the cheese so we had basically Steak-umm "meat" and some cheese. Ale's Kitchen is in a brewery, Straight to Ale, and I'm happy they do offer two wines: a chardonnay and a red blend. I again had the chardonnay which was, as I recalled from the last visit, flavorless. The staff were friendly, efficient, answered questions, ensured we had everything we needed, were overall kind, and our orders were promptly prepared and delivered to our table. My server could have been a tiny bit more attentive. The server didn't like making eye contact so it was hard to get his attention. What can I say besides I have always enjoyed all the food I have ordered here. I was surprised to even enjoy their pizza, considering how picky I am about pizza. I've been here with friends who have also been very pleased with their meal, so in all they are very consistent. Sometimes the kitchen can take a bit longer so be patient, because the food will be delicious. Can't go wrong with a brewery that actually serves good food. read more

I had a dream about this place once upon a time as a junior high boy who wanted to turn his school into a fun place. Huntsville granted my wish! Ale's Kitchen is in a gym of a shut down middle school. Besides having a brewery at this middle school it also has: an arcade, art gallery, coffee shop, pool hall, saloon, Mexican restaurant, an ax throwing bar, and even a church. This was quite an innovative idea! My food choices were Southern poutine, wings and fries, and sweet tea. The Southern Poutine are home-cut fries topped with cheese, slaw, pulled pork, banana peppers, ranch, and BBQ sauce. Overall, I liked it but it had a drop of BBQ sauce, little pork, and a lot of slaw. I ordered 8 wings and were able to split them into 2 sauces - tangy BBQ and sriracha Buffalo. I ordered them extra wet and well, there was a lack of communication somewhere between the waitress and cook. These wings had probably the normal amount of sauce on them. I liked the tangy BBQ better the sriracha Buffalo. The Sriracha Buffalo tasted like Buffalo sauce but the tangy BBQ was not sweet at all. It was like Shane's Rib Shack spicy BBQ sauce. The ranch had dill in it and seemed to be homemade. Sweet tea was refreshingly sweet! Ale's kitchen is definitely a novel place to visit if you ever had dreams and visions of what a cool school looks like. First trip to Huntsville! This place's menu looked good, was close to our hotel, and we decided to try it! The staff was SO nice, and our bartender helped me decide on the dishes I was stuck between. Those Sweet potato black bean tacos are INCREDIBLE! I could have eaten 2 orders My partner went for the special Avo Burger and that was given a good review as well. Great fries. While having a beer at Straight to Ale, I decided to grab a late dinner at the attached kitchen, Ale's Kitchen. Since it was after 8:00, they only offered the late night menu, which was relatively limited. I chose the wings and fries with their hottest sauce. The dish came out pretty quick and in a to go container. The wings were meaty and big and the sauce, while not super hot, had a good taste. The tarragon blue cheese, well, in my opinion, why try to make something fancy for the sake of fancy. The tarragon if anything diminished from the overall taste profile. The service was friendly and they were easy to converse with. Overall, a good experience. I have had better wings, but if I find myself in that brewery, there is no need to flee those wells and the beers that is within to sate my hunger. read more

We split the veggie pizza. The pizza was tasty with a crunchy crust, thick layer of cheese, and unique drizzle of balsamic dressing. The pizza costs $14 and can easily feed two people. The overall ambience of the restaurant is somewhat lacking, but maybe this is due to its appeal to be more of a bar then a restaurant. We ate dinner here and entered through the taproom side of the facility. the seating is an "all-sides covered" outdoor area with heaters. It was still pretty chilly though as it was a cold evening outside. The drink menu in this area is slightly different than the drink menu in the taproom, but you are welcome to get a drink in the taproom and bring it in here. We were here around the time of mardi gras so they had a mardi gras food menu in addition to their normal menu. I had the crawfish poutine which was a very heavy dish. It was loaded with tons of crawfish and the cheese was plentiful as well. The sauce was rich, had a small kick to it. Ale's Kitchen offers upscale bar food, often with a slightly international or gourmet twist. I was hoping for a bit more from my first visit, but I'd return just to try the poutine, as I didn't get a chance this time. Located inside Straight to Ale, the seating process can be crowded and confusing. Grab a table and hope a waiter or waitress notices you soon; luckily, ours did. She was very pleasant and our food and drinks came out quickly. My companions enjoyed all the beers they tried. I know they tried the Pilsner as well as Monkeynaut, but I can't remember the others. I had the fromage a trois - a grilled cheese sandwich with two types of cheeses on cheddar FredBread. It was a decent sandwich, but very simple. I was really hoping for a more adult flavor profile, but it tasted pretty much like a grilled cheese you'd make at home with slightly fancier bread. Probably should have added bacon. The fries that came with it were very good. One of my companions had the kimchi pork tacos. I only sampled a piece of the pork, and found that very, very underwhelming. Soggy and vinegary with no smoke taste. He claimed that it was very good when all mixed together with the kimchi and the spicy sauce and the tortilla. I remain unconvinced; I'd probably only order something with pulled pork on it from there with a great deal of suspicion. As a barbecue snob, I may be a bit too critical here. Lastly, my boyfriend ordered the bacon appetizer. It was two strips of very tasty bacon in a sweet glaze with a small dish of pickled vegetables. The bacon WAS very tasty, but the appetizer cost $8.50. My grilled cheese and fries were $8. We both felt the price for the size of the appetizer was pretty unreasonable. It's not really an appetizer you can share, unless there's only two people eating. I dunno. This place might have earned 4 stars from me if I hadn't gotten quite so hyped up off other reviews. I'm definitely willing to try again, as Straight to Ale/Campus 805 is a really cool area that's great for meeting friends. Driving thru Huntsville and found this place based on Yelp. Good location, dog + kid friendly opens to giant greenspace. Video games inside. Patio was dirty and covered with bird poop on floor and chairs, bathrooms are filthy. Probably would not have stayed if we saw that first. Outdoors you had to order at bar for service, so that wasn't the greatest self serve option. Our food was just so-so. Burger was nothing special and the jerk chicken tacos were just ok. As a city, Huntsville has a lot of fun hotspots, and Ale's Kitchen is near the top of that list! Campus 805 is so fun, and inside you can find Ale's Kitchen, with a speakeasy hidden behind locker doors. They have great food, cocktail, and beer options for all. Across the hall is a game room if you're interested in playing gameboards with some friends. Overall, my friend and I had a good time sitting at the bar, trying out some of their specialty cocktails. I highly recommend checking this place out the next time you are in Huntsville. read more

We also had Pubbington Ale which was ok. For dinner we had Poutine with roast beef which I did not like at all but my daughter and husband did. We also had teriyaki lime wings and fries. The wings again were liked by two of us but I thought ok. We also had jerk chicken tacos which were delicious. The coleslaw was way to sour for all of us. The bathrooms were bar bathrooms. Nestled inside my favorite brewery in Huntsville is Ale's Kitchen, Straight to Ale's dining option at their new location. My wife and I are very frequent visitors to the brewery, but had yet to try the food. The menu has a good selection of bar food including appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, wings, ribs, salads, and poutines. My wife and I opted for the burgers. Despite the chaos on a Saturday night, our waitress promptly took our order and the food came out quicker than we expected. The burgers were awesome. We both got the Classic American Burger, and I added an extra patty to mine for only $3 making it a monster. Both burgers were cooked perfectly, crazy juicy, and had great flavor. For sides, the fries and side of ranch were awesome and my wife's side salad was a good size (btw their ranch dressing is sooooo good). For the quality of the food, I'd say the prices of the food is good. I'd love to come back and try the wings ASAP. Just another reason to flock to the Campus 805 area and Straight to Ale. read more

Visited Huntsville and this place came highly recommended. It's a brewery/kitchen/distillery. Went on a Friday and the place was packed, but luckily they have a speakeasy in the back that you can check out. They serve your standard bar-food (burgers, wings, sandwiches, tacos, pizzas), and it was all delicious. I started with the bacon wrapped pretzel bites with beer cheese. We also had the jerk tacos. Both great. The only issue I have, and it was a big one, was the waiter. We went for Alabama Restaurant Week, and even though it was advertised on the website, he said he didn't know what we were talking about. Then I asked for a gose that they served. The name was literally right on the board behind him but he claimed they didn't serve it. The guy was clueless. Overall, next time we're in Huntsville, we will be back. They earned a five star for their unique and yummy foods. I was there for an event and got to taste several foods in a buffet. I will reveal each. Something that was interesting was a comment I heard several times, "I don't know what it is but is is good." First in line were the ribs. They are listed on the menu as "Crispy Asian Ribs". They were great. I've never had ribs like these. The outside was indeed crispy and yummy. The meat fell off the bone and was very tender. I loved the sauce. Great job. Then there were these golf ball sized things. They looked fried but biting into them revealed a nice ground meat filling. On the menu they were called, "Meatloaf Balls". Wonderful! Underneath a nice breading was this wonderful fluffy meat filling. It took a while to recognize the filling as meatloaf, but I'm fully in. Appearing like sausage bites, I was once again fooled. Bacon was wrapped around these delights. After may tastes., I still could not figure out what the bacon was wrapped around. Oh! It was a section of a Bavarian pretzel. Wow. Yummy. Last I had their wings. On the buffet, they were plain fried wings with sauces served on the side. I liked em. I saw the kitchen produce several of the main dishes. Wow. They were great. We had a great afternoon at Ale's Kitchen, located with Straight to Ale in Campus 805. We went for a lunch date, and weren't in any kind of hurry, and this is the perfect place for that. Our service was super friendly, and although they were very busy, attentive. Our food took longer than normal to arrive, but it's a fun environment to sit and chat, people watch, and enjoy some drinks while you wait. The Rasberry Gose was my favorite beer on tap, a tad sour and a hint of sweetness from the rasberry. We did enjoy an appetizer to start, which came out very quickly. It was the bacon wrapped pretzel bites. The description doesn't do these magical little nugs any justice! They are sinfully deep fried and coated in a spicy honey sauce, and paired with a cheesey mustard dip! both sauces were amazing in their own, and even more delicious paired together! Our entrees were the Bahn-Mi style tacos, and the Southern BBQ Style poutine. Both outstanding and bursting with freshness and flavor. The ingredients were fresh and clearly prepared to order. Bar service is great. Beer was good. If you sit at a table expect subpar service. I ordered the BBQ Poutine which was flavorful however you will need a fork. Asked the waitress for utensils and she never came back after 15 minutes I Had to go track utensils down on my own. Then my food was cold. Others in our party order grilled cheese sandwiches and a grilled chicken sandwich. It took FOREVER for the food to be delivered. The food was great but the waitress was kind of spacey. This was our first time here and didn't know if we needed to seat ourselves or order and then sit. So we walked around and grabbed menus at the bar (no waiters in sight). We see a random man standing by the merchandise for sale and asked if we seat ourselves...he works there and saw us roaming around like idiots and waited for us to ask what to do lol. Anyway we ordered the diablo burger, bistro burger, ribs, and jerk chicken tacos. Now to the spacey waitress, I ask her about the tacos and she proceeds to write it down...I say no how are the tacos... she says they are pretty good, well a lot of people order them...um ok. So then my dad asks what's the best thing on the menu, she says which one....HUH??...then he points at a part of the menu and she says oh yea those are good...He says which one...she says people seem to like the ribs. So this convo is painful so he just orders the ribs. (After he asks about the burgers and she basically just says people like them). Everyone else orders...then my brother asks about the appetizers and I cringed knowing how this conversation was going to go. He asks about them and she kinda stares off in space like he's not talking to her. He asks again but now about the bacon in particular...she says um its just fried bacon...OMG...so then she says um we have a pretzel with two cheeses and some nachos people like. No enthusiasm no nothing lol...needless to say we skipped the appetizer. But the jerk tacos were appetizing and huge, the chicken was tender and flavorful get fries as your side with ranch. The ribs are to die for, they are fall of the bone tender with a yummy glaze...you have to squeeze the lime on them...the burgers were also great but our fave was the diablo. We will come back for the food and hopefully will have a more attentive waiter. read more
