Came here because this place had 5 stars and not a lot of pictures. This restaurant is located…read moreinside the Botanical Gardens but you don't need to pay to eat here, it's located next to the gift shop. Sometimes the food venue in a place like this can be terrible and over priced -- this isn't the case with Fern & Feast Bistro. The food selection here is pretty decent, sandwiches, tacos, salads, burgers, flatbreads etc, most in the $9-12 range. They have some kid options (chicken nuggets, grilled chese, quesadilla, etc) for picky eaters at $6 each. Downside is that the sandwiches etc don't come with fries or chips, so that could increase your meal price. I ordered the Uber sandwich because I feel like that is a good gauge of how the food will be and is pretty standard at most restos. Mine was served relatively quick on an environmentally friendly plate made if recycle paper products (I don't care all that much but I know some people will appreciate that touch). Club was delicious, but make sure to grab mustard and mayo. Bread was toasted just the right amount; it had some char but was not too dry or crunchy. Lettuce and tomato were fresh, and the proportions and amounts of the turkey, ham and beacon was great. But the best reason to come to this place is the scenery. From the back of the narrow seating area you can grab a seat that looks out over the Botanical Gardens or of you keep going back they have outdoor seating available. The weather was wonderful today and so I ate my sandwich on the patio taking in nature and avoiding the man with three children who all needed discipline in their life inside. If you're looking for a place to stop and relax with decent food while the weather is good - this is your place. Give it a shot!

I love a good sandwich and it all starts with the bread...!!! The bread here is homemade and on point as far as I'm concerned. I got the Kitchen Sink and it was fabulous. All ingredients were good but the bread is where it all starts. Very tasty sandwich in a very laid back place. Good job.

This time, I ordered the Vegetarian Combo Sandwich to go, which includes veggie turkey, corned beef, wham, and chicken. I was genuinely looking forward to it, especially after hearing so many rave reviews over the years from folks in Huntsville and Oakwood University alumni. Unfortunately, my experience was a major letdown. When I got home to Atlanta and unwrapped the sandwich, I was shocked. The bread was torn and falling apart, and there were no condiments included--none on the sandwich and none in the bag. No one asked if I wanted any, and I had no idea I needed to request them. The only addition was a small portion cup of diced tomatoes and diced pickles... which did very little to help the situation. To make matters worse, the sandwich cost $21.26 for two--and honestly, I've had far better subs for much less. Given the price and all the hype, I expected something that at least held together and had some flavor. I know Stanlieo's has a strong reputation in the Huntsville community, but based on this experience, I just don't get the hype. Sadly, this was one of the worst sub sandwiches I've ever purchased. Come on, Stanlieo's--people are rooting for you. But at these prices, customers deserve quality and attention to detail. Until then, you all might be better off just heading to Subway. To be fair, the ambience is fine. The place has been around for a while, and it carries a retro charm that likely appeals to those with fond memories of visiting over the years. It still looks much like it probably did when it first opened, and I imagine that sense of nostalgia is part of its lasting appeal. But for me, nostalgia just wasn't enough to make up for the lackluster food quality.

Ate at Capriotti's today for the first time for lunch and had a really great experience!…read more It is in a very convenient location downtown and looks amazing from the outside and inside. The dining room is very nicely decorated and feels very open with all the windows! It was clean and there were lots of seating options. The bathrooms were also very nice and clean. I ordered the grilled Italian sandwich with marinara sauce added, and really liked it! I think I would like it better without the marinara sauce next time, but I was very happy with my order! The staff seemed very friendly and were all super energetic. We were welcomed in when we came into the restaurant and everyone that was working there seemed happy to be there! Great atmosphere, great food, and amazing service! I will be here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal!

Okay y'all, I get the low reviews now. I made the mistake of going to Capriotti's during lunch…read more It sucked. For starters, I ordered online beforehand (and included a nice tip). I was told my order would be ready at a certain time (15 or so minutes), so I headed over. Surprisingly, there were empty tables and those who ordered at the register had no problems. The rest of us--who ordered takeout/delivery--got screwed. I went over to the spot that said "online orders" and noticed two bags of sandwiches, chips, drinks, etc.--neither with my name on them--so I stepped back and waited. And waited. And waited. Those two bags were never touched, announced, etc. Then I noticed the pile of sandwiches by where the cooks are that kept growing and growing. Those who dined in had their names called out. The rest of us I guess were just supposed to have ESP--I had gotten a text saying my order was ready, but these were just sandwiches and I had a combo. Finally, I walked over and explained and was given my sandwich--which had been sitting for a while. The hot sandwich was now lukewarm at best. Still, the lady (manager?) manning the register, got my drink and chips...but then I saw her. One of the cooks. Staring at me behind my sandwich with a death glare. Lady with braids, I'm sorry you were having a bad day, but I could literally feel that you wanted to spit on my food with your evil eye. Parking is a nightmare, the kitchen itself looked like a mess because sandwich parts were all over the floor, and I'll never forget that lady glaring at me just because I wanted my damn sandwich. I'm not going back here.

I still like this place and have even gotten "real food" there…read more Pros: Staff are friendly! They nicely ground the bag of (overpriced) coffee I bought with zero complaints. The breakfast sandwiches and BLT are decently executed, but I'm REALLY not a fan of their bagels. Their bread (particularly the baguette) is fantastic, though. Note: it sells out quickly. You can still pick up your to-go order without having to deal with people. They now have a cute bookshop inside. They make their own cream cheese! Cons: If I'm paying $1.50 for an avocado add on, PLEASE don't let it be oxidized and brown and gross. This makes me sad. Parking is still a nightmare. See above about the bagels. I'm prepared for the hate I'm about to get, but I prefer Bruegger's...which is sad, as I'm sure they're produced and come in frozen. Prices have gone up, but that's to be expected. I would love, however, the option to not add on a side for less moolah. I don't want their straight from the bag chips, random baby carrots, or (somewhat icky) fruit. Depending on the timing, you may be able to get a seat. Or you may be fighting a soccer mom with 4 screaming toddlers just to pick up a to go order. Still a fan, but know what you're getting.

And they offer just enough Schmear as an extra and will toast it for you. It is a quaint place that offers a place to hang out for a while. The staff was cordial not overly friendly and seemed really focused on the tasks at hand. I would have liked to have had a better breakfast bagel sandwich selection as that is what I was looking for but most of the offerings were on toasted bread.
