The past 15 years of my life have been difficult; I have been suffering with chronic bloating,…read moremigraines, eczema and constipation. All of this profoundly affected my quality of life on a daily basis. I was hospitalized during this time because of diverticulitis (which was caused by the constipation). During my FOUR day hospital stay, 2 different surgeons came in to tell me that they would need to remove parts of my colon if the infection didn't respond to the IV antibiotics. During this stay, my prominent and well respected GI Doctor, also came to check on me. In talking, she mentioned that she sees a large number of postmenopausal woman, in her practice that are suffering from the same symptoms and chronic constipation. When I asked her what she thought the connection was between the hormonal changes and GI issues? She simply stated that she "does not know" and did not offer any other solutions besides to increase my Fiber and water intake, which I was already doing. This was a turning point for me in realizing that the Traditional medical system is far more comfortable talking about doing something that is as drastic as surgery, rather than understand and treat the underlying cause of symptoms. It was not until I discovered Dr. Laurie Goldman that I learned there IS a way to understand and treat the underlying cause. She immediately relieved me of the chronic constipation and began attacking the underlying issues, which improved my daily life significantly. Through her expertise, supplements and working with her team I am discovering a new way of managing my health. I feel empowered going forward that my health is in my hands and not being dictated to me. The things that I have learned during her program have opened my eyes to a new way of life, new respect for my body, and I am never going back! She is extremely intelligent, thorough and easy to work with. I saw some of the negative reviews on here and I can't understand how they had such a different experience than I have had, along with many others that have been helped by her. I assumed this was like any other couples therapy but with 2 professionals instead of 1. With nothing to lose, my partner at the time and I went in for what I affectionately now call "spiritual boot camp." Jean and Ray have a unique approach to their therapy backed by a mix of data, psychology, history, Kabbalah, and what I can only assume is MAGIC. They have an uncanny ability to read people and see thru B.S. allowing them to get to the root of issues faster and without judgement. If you're a fan of Brene Brown, Jean refers to this concept of eliminating shame (both within yourself and for those around you). I've been going to Lighthouse for 4 years now--even after moving 30 miles away & 2 failed attempts to get my advice/healing elsewhere. Sometimes I still leave sessions upset (because I know Jean is right and has hit a sore spot) but I ALWAYS have a sense of clarity and peace afterwards. The ardent center accepted our ins, was conveniently located between dad and I, and had openings that worked with our schedules so we gave it a shot. WORST MISTAKE EVER! Last weekend while the kids were with me, I asked them to do some household chores ex; fold their laundry including matching sock, they did some then got board and walked away I made them come back and finnish that was when my son said, "I CANT WAIT UNTIL IM 13" I asked him why what's happening when your 13?, he said, "MY COUNSELOR TOLD ME WHEN IM 13 I GET TO DECIDE IF I WANT TO GO WITH YOU AND YOU CANT MAKE ME!" I then asked my daughter if she was told the same thing and she said, yes. We brought our kids to JAMIE because we trusted that she could HELP or kids NOT make thing WORSE for us at home. Today I met with Jamie and asked her if she told my kids that when they are 13 they can decide who they want and don't want to visit and who they want to and don't want to live with. SHE DENIED IT AND SAID NO SHES NOT A LAWYER TO GIVE THAT ADVICE. Don't get me wrong there are certain circumstances were kids might have a say but my children have a roof over their head, food on the table, and clothes on their back. They are not abused or neglected. My children are not innocent but I can tell you one thing for sure, MY SON IS NOT A LIAR! I then asked Jamie if my kids can join us and we can clarify things, SHE SAID NO! She said she does not feel comfortable talking to my kids about it. I Walked out of the room and told my kids that I had a conversation with Jamie about the information they told me she gave them and I told them how she denied it and they said she's LYING, SHE TOLD US.... (they even recalled the day) HOW DEAR A LICENSED PROFESSIONAL TELL THAT TO MY KIDS. WHO KNOWS HOW MANY KIDS HEADS SHE IS MANIPULATING!
