This was my first time here for lunch with my family of 6. We were shopping in the adjacent mall. This place was highly rated on Yelp. Despite the fact that we did not have a reservation for lunch we were seated immediately at a nice high top. This is a casual hang out place. I started with my Founders Breakfast nitro draft beer for $6.50. We shared their medium chicken wings with both blue cheese and ranch dressing for $10.95. The chicken wings were tasty and crispy. I also enjoyed their spicy ramen bowl for $7.95. We all enjoyed our lunches here except I did not like the fishy taste of their crab fries for $2. Their cajun fries also for $2 were much better tasting than the crab fries. My family also agreed. Bar 2 took care of our table. My total bill less gratuities was $141. We all ordered appetizers and they came out with our dinners which was a bit disappointing. The Buffalo chicken nachos were underwhelming and cold so we barely ate those. I ordered sweet potato fries and got whatever was in the photo and the amount of pepper they put on them was smelling up the whole table. They brought us the sweet potato fries that we ordered and they were delicious with this marshmallow sauce to dip. The flatbread was really good as well at the patty melt we got. THE BEST FRENCH ONION SOUP IN THE AREA!! I am so obsessed with their soup I can eat it every single day! The flat breads are delicious we had the Buffalo chicken one. I favor the beef one as well! The menu at Ale Mary's is full of temptation, but most of the dishes did not live up to their tantalizing descriptions. My biggest disappointment was the Ramen Bowl ($7.25). This was hands down the most regrettable bowl of "ramen" I have ever tried. The biggest offense was how sickeningly sweet it was. I could not even finish 1/3 of this because of the sugar overload. I also found the sauteed vegetables a curious addition - it looked like a bowl of vegetable soup more than ramen. I can appreciate a creative new take on a dish, but this one just fell flat. I also got the pierogi poutine, which was okay, but again nothing spectacular. I did appreciate the amount of cheese curds (some places are stingy with these), but they had a sour flavor. A dining companion kindly shared some of her sweet potato fries, and I have to say I really enjoyed those. They were hot, crispy, and well-cooked. They also came with a delicious marshmallow dipping sauce. For appetizers we had the nachos (again, too sweet for my tastes) and the pickle fries. I thought the pickle fries were good and I liked the spicy dipping sauce that accompanied them. My favorite thing I tried on this visit was the Mango Cart beer they had on tap. It was not light, refreshing, and not overly sweet. I had a good time at Ale Mary's because I was in good company, but ultimately the food that sounded like it had so much promise just did not live up to the hype. I would come back again because it seems like a lot of people enjoy the menu offerings, so maybe I just chose poorly. Plus, even with a large group, the service was good and I thought we got our food in a reasonable amount of time. Would rather scrape the 2" thick grease that I'm sure is on the side of their fryer and spread that on a chip and eat that. Cheesesteak Eggrolls are SAFE.... Nothing WoW about this dish.... Not exciting... flavors are lacking... Make sure to order ranch for these... Chicken Cesar Salad Tacos are a basic disappointment that left me wondering who came up with this dish and if they still have their job after putting them on the menu... Definitely a sad creation between a a mildly cold store bought flour tortilla...Maaaaaaaybe be a little creative & take the tomatoes out (when does tomatoes come in a Cesar salad ?? I recently stopped in for dinner with a friend. I ordered the surf and turf tacos, the meat included was lobster and supposedly beef tenderloin. The tacos were tasty, but while eating them I realized the beef was ground, spongy, rubbery, and at times crunchy with what I'm assuming was cartilage. Please don't advertise a menu item containing beef tenderloin when in actuality it was made with almost inedible low quality ground beef. read more

It's in a cool old building with two long wooden bars and a dining room. Rob, the bartender,took care of us as we sat at a high top in the bar. He was so friendly as well as efficient. He makes great cocktails. Try his Manhattan; he makes some really special cherries to go in them. I was disappointed they were out of the hummus but I'm glad they were because he recommended the cauliflower bites and they were delicious! I got them with the Old Bay rub and a side of BBQ sauce. They give you a lot but I ate it all because I couldn't stop. We found this place on Yelp when we decided to stop In Scranton on a trip to northern PA. This is one of my all time favorite places. The whole atmosphere is relaxing and fun, the staff is always smiling and so helpful. Even when it's crowded you are get amazing service. I am crazy about the short rib flat bread and the Captain morgan dry rubbed chicken bites. Also don't be fooled by it being an ale house - the have an array of whiskeys and the martini are perfect. I have to start this by saying this could have been one of the oddest menus I've seen at a bar/tavern in my life. I say that in a positive way, but it really was tough to decide what to order. So we came here after we did a tour of the Scranton campus and we were actually pretty hungry - and pretty much expected to just grab some good burgers and fries. Wifey ordered the Founders ReDankulous Red IPA to start and I ordered the Ithaca 18 porter and Wifey also had the French Onion soup. For our meals -which we ordered before our drinks arrived because the service was kind of slow and this seems to be a consistent complaint- Wifey ordered the Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad, I had the Ramen Bowl and my son got the Buffalo Chicken Flatbread. Our beers (and the beer selection) were excellent and if I lived in the area I would probably come here for more of their selections, however the entrees were just ok. The onion soup was very good - lots of flavor and a nice broiled cheese on top. Not sure what kind of onions they used, but this had a different, sweeter flavor than I've had at a lot of places. My son DID really like his flatbread, but it was kind of soggy, which was disappointing. The flavor was great, but the consistency of the flatbread just wasn't good. I wasn't a fan of Wifey's grilled Caesar salad...and she wasn't either. I know it's a "thing" these days, but lettuce of any kind does not hold up to grilling...it only makes it soggy. Again, flavor was ok but the texture was a bit of a turn-off...maybe we just don't have the correct palette for this meal. My Ramen bowl was a lot of food, which was good because I was hungry. The bowl had lots of veggies and protein, but the choice of veggies was a bit "too American" as my wife put it as we both expected more of an Asian flair. One Yelper complained of hers being too sweet and I didn't get that with mine so maybe ONE of us had an odd day. And as far as "slider" size is concerned, these are large sandwiches!! my husband got the short rib cheese steak egg rolls. HUGE eggrolls, lots of flavor. Bourbon and bacon wings......BACON!!!!!
