Our family of five with kids were up for trying something new and this place did not disappoint. The apps - homemade chips and salsa as well as pretzels w/mustard were yum. Food was made to order, expect to allow time for that. Everyone enjoyed their mains which were Reuben, wings and burger. I opted for the eggplant chips, which were slightly overdone but still tasty. Waitress was beyond friendly and attentive, she was great with the kids. I Would return and recommend if you're up for good food/service and hometown bar/restaurant vibe.

This may be the best version yet! For anyone who hasn't been back since Finnigan's on the Lake closed due to the owner's health issues, I strongly encourage you to return. The food was delicious, and the service was truly exceptional. The Tavern has been beautifully upgraded, the views of Ballston Lake are as spectacular as ever, and, most importantly, the owners and staff go out of their way to make every guest feel genuinely welcome and appreciated. It's wonderful to see this longtime Ballston Lake gathering place thriving again. We'll definitely be back!

3.5 stars rounded down because this wasn't a 4 star experience. Pricey for an average experience…read moreand limited menu. It had a nice casual feel, like where all the locals go to gather, but for 3 people splitting 2 apps, 3 entrees, and 3 alcoholic drinks, our tab came in at over $150 and we just didn't feel like we had a meal worthy of that. We parked out back where it appears they might offer boat/trailer parking too, but it was off season so there were plenty of spots. The interior had these cool flickering lights that mimicked fire lit lanterns, and there was lots of wood for a cozy intimate feeling. The lake view was underutilized though; the were seating people in the back half only, which I didn't quite understand when such a good view was available. There's also a stone patio with some seating but it was a little too cold for us to be eating out there. The pretzel sticks were great; perfect level of salt and paired with a good beer cheese. Mozzarella sticks portion size was pretty small; it would not be an app I recommend sharing with more than 2 people. I got the tavern salad and both of my parents got the roast beef melt. My salad was a bit bland despite everything added to it; there just wasn't enough of any one topping to carry the flavor through the whole salad. I added on grilled chicken and that was very simple, nothing wow-worthy, and turned this into an almost $20 salad. My parents enjoyed their sandwiches. My dad got his with fries and my mom paid the $2 up charge for onion rings. For drinks, my dad got a Jim & ginger, I got the 1911 seasonal cider, and my mom tried their coconut mojito. My dad and I were perfectly a happy with our drinks, but my mom was very unimpressed with her's. My waitress did forget to bring a fork for my salad and we easily waited 5-10 mins to get her attention, and even tried flagging down two other waitresses too, so that wasn't fun. But otherwise our waitress was very personable and kind, and very apologetic about the delay with the fork. The food quality that we got though just still didn't seem like $150 experience, so I'm not sure we'll be rushing back here.

After leaving a horrible car dealer experience for 2 hours we were starving and stopped by around 8:30 and it was not crowded. We were seated right away and our server was very friendly. We ordered apps and our meals and then the wheels came off. After about 40 mins our apps came out and they were decent. Then we waited and waited and no food. Finally around 10:00 I asked our waitress if our food wasn't close to being out we were leaving. She came out and said it's going to be a while!!!! What a waste of time! If you have staffing issues I get it but tell us up front and we would never had stayed. So we all went home hungry! We won't be back.
