Sometimes they have good sale as items. Most things seem expensive. Or that great or variety of selection of items. Great Midwest chain! Awesome produce and organic finds! The Aldi finds Aretha best! The wine selection is amazing here in California versus back Home in IL. Hummus is greats and their ahi tuna fillets are great! Frozen fruits are affordable and everything is reasonably priced! Love Aldi read more

This is a German - European style store. They are not big but are clean and easy to navigate. The manager Mike was friendly and informative. They have some of my favorite European treats & some good grocery specials. You need a quarter to use a cart but get it back at the end. They charge 10cents for paper bags & 15cents for plastic bags so bring your reusable ones. read more

We shop at Aldi 2-3 times per month averaging around $150 per trip. We get mostly the same items each time and they are rarely out of stock.  The produce has been great with the best prices, but not a lot of variety, same with their limited selection of meats, or everything else for that matter (small store, limited selection).  Their staff has always been pleasant and helpful, but maybe a little overworked, but that's the times we are in.  I'm surprised they are not busier and their prices are so good that we only go to Costco every other month instead of monthly. Aldi is efficient with a limited selection, but that's ok as it's what keeps the prices lower. read more

I just absolutely have to compliment this store for its cleaning practices. Their is a very hardworking young man who sanitizes the carts and gives hand sanitizer to customers before we go inside. He has been their every time I have been their. He is friendly polite and deserves to be recognized for his commitment to his job. Not an easy one at all right now. Thank you young man! My to go to market!! I don't even know where to begin. The first time I went there it was great, I even stocked up on things that weren't on my grocery list haha. But it's ALDI for you. I really like the whole quarter and cart thing because I never see shopping carts out in the parking randomly! Don't have to worry about having to move a cart out of your parking spot or accidentally hitting one. Cashiers are lovely people!! And it is a German branch store run by two brothers. :p Prices are amazing! Back in Illinois, ALDI was my everything, so when I moved to the area, I was full of joy to be honest because back in Twentynine palms, yeah no luck :/ I really love it because there's time when I go and they always have like random things, from patio tables to office chairs, pet stuff, always finding something very unique !! Have been in the area where this Aldi is located. We were passing time so thought let's go check it out. As we walked in were quite surprised how small it is. The inside was very clean, neat & friendly service. They don't have a lot of stock but what they do have is good low prices. We picked up a 12 pack of French Vanilla Cappuccino K-Cups for $3.89 great deal along with being tasty coffee. Produce looked good, didn't pick any up today since we weren't going home for a few hours. Will be back. read more

Nope, Not for me. I heard all the hype about Aldi's like it was a new Winco coming. People all over are talking about it. Something new hit us, but that something new was not that great. First off, should of read the reviews because I totally bullied a kid into giving me their cart! I had no idea about this quarter check in and out, which is ridiculous. We are not even in a part of town people could walk away with the carts. So yeah, poor kid was trying to get his quarter back when I just walked up took it and said," Ill take it Im going inside." He kind of held on to it before i yanked it away thinking what is wrong with this kid? Boy, do I feel bad. Second, the prices are the same or higher then winco. This place reminds me of a grocery outlet because its random items to browse or for a very small unparticular shopping list. The check out was the next whammy. I didnt bring bags. They dont provide them, at all. No boxes either. So I put my small amount unbagged in the car for my kids to deal with carrying in when I got home. This place needs HOW TO SHOP signs here. I will never return unless I am in the area and need to run in for one item real quick. read more

You won't need to worry about bringing your reusable bags because unless you have quarters on you- you won't get a cart. This explains the increase of homeless folks around.. -went in to grab a ham, since it was on sale for an awesome price (-lots of people did). The delivery truck never delivered them & Aldi wasnt giving out rainchecks. -So maybe this is the norm, now- not sure. We're just getting used to bringing in our own bags- it's too soon to charge us rent to use your carts, too (-really Aldi? -you couldn't start that at the beginning of the year?!). For a new store- nothing special- not impressed. -I WILL add that I didn't rent a cart. A nice person gave me theirs to use, because someone else gave it to them- I paid it forward and did the same. I'm not sure if I can even give this an accurate rating because I was so confused. It's worth another trip so I can check out what this place has to offer while i'm less hangry. First heard of Aldi from a handful of people on a facebook community suggesting to come here. They said it's just like Sprouts and TJ's, but it's cheaper and you can find organic produce and meat for prices that beat Sprouts. Then Aldi was mentioned in Season 7 of Shameless, so I definitely had to go. From what I saw, I have to disagree. There was a lot more junk than fresh produce. The produce section was small, sparse, and prices were very similar to a standard grocery store. I am open to giving it another shot and updating my review. read more

I grew up in Germany and Aldi was my Mothers favorite Store and I always went with her when I was a little Girl because is not just Groceries they had Toys and Cloth too. So I was very excited when they opened Aldi Stores throughout the county and I visit the Aldi in Vista. It looked very clean and they have good prices on Groceries but not a big selection. If you visit an Aldi in Germany they have the best freshest meats,cheeses, produce , wine , German cookies and lots more ... Hope they will import more items and you will never go to another store and pay high prices. read more

This store is depressing. A whole store of generic foods. Some look like imitations. I've never seen so many generic and imitation brands before. Where did they all come from. Smarter shopping, that is exactly what Aldi is! Sad that some American people don't get that. Coming from Europe, I noticed a little selection of European stuff such as the Brioche, Chocolate and a few other items. Most of their inventory is American products that carry their own private labels. Within their private label they have options for the budget shopper, but also for the health fanatic that watches what he/she puts inside his/her body. The lay out of the store, the concept with the carts, the sitting cashiers remind me of Europe! Prices are really low, packages aren't that Americanized large; and there is a variety of foods that change overtime with different items. Most of all what I like about Aldi, is that you don't have to waste 2 hours through so many different aisles. It is just very convenient, fast and always good. (Haha- I know it was a culture shock for me when I came here and I saw a full aisle -twosided-fully dedicated to only CEREAL??!!). I would say think of Aldi as a budget version of Trader Joe's in a 'Europeanized' version. Which is conscious, smart, easy and fast. Oh and just as everybody already mentioned: Bring your own recyclable bags in order to avoid buying one, and have a quarter ready for depositing into the cart! read more

This Aldi is a brand new small supermarket. To get a shopping cart you need a quarter that you will get back when it is returned. The inside of the store is bright and clean. Most of the products are private label. Aldi's reminds me of Trader Joe's but with low pricing. The quality of everything I purchased was very good. Although some products available have high fructose corn syrup which I avoid. You do need to bring your reusable bags and bag your groceries yourself. I can't see myself doing all my shopping here, but I will do some of it and save money. Be careful in the parking lot. I've been almost hit twice by drivers not paying attention. read more

Disclaimer: I am German and have shopped at Aldi in Europe while growing up there. That being said...I LOVE this store. Groceries at a discounted price..friendly service and everything is very clean. The best part is that you find even organic Non-GMO foods at affordable prices. They usually have changing seasonal non food items too so make sure to check their new ads every week for deals. You can't beat the German chocolate. I dare you to try the Moser-Roth brand or Schogetten. High quality chocolate for 99 cents or $1.99 a bar. Highly recommend the German Roasted mild coffee also for 4.99 a pack. A couple of things that are important to know. Bring a quarter to use for the carts and bring some bags to pack your groceries. The cashier will loosely put it all in your cart while they scan it but it is up to you to organize it in bags if you wish. There is a big shelf area behind the check out with plenty of room to organize your things. Some people might not like packing their groceries or bringing a quarter for the cart that you get back upon returning it but those are all measures to keep the prices down. I am super happy we finally have Aldi in Socal and plan to frequent there often. read more

This was the first time I went to Aldi and the first time I was ever told I needed to pay for a grocery cart. Hmmm. I understand the reasoning, what I don't understand is that the carts weren't coming loose even though the ladies were putting quarters in them. Then when I made my purchase I had to go get 2 arm fulls, I mentioned that it was my first time there and because of the shopping cart fiasco I wasn't too impressed. Wow!! What a rude checker! I was there just two days ago during late afternoon. Huge line with just one cashier. She had her walkie talkie on and didnt bother to call up or page someone else to get on another register and help people check outta there. All I bought was tea and yogurt, as I go to Aldi for specific things, and had to wait for the three people in front of me who had much more stuff. If I must wait this long, I rather go to walmart. I really like this store for major staples like milk, cheese, eggs, baking product even their limited produce. These prices are just great. Some of the manufactures they have for their sweets are not acceptable. I tired their peanut butter cups and they were gritty as though they had dirt in them. Their "like" fig newtons had worms in them. I pointed out these problems to their management but they seemed unconcerned. I have brought back products and received reimbursement. I had heard of Aldi for my sister who lives in Florida and I was very excited to learn that we would be getting one also. Unfortunately the location is in Vista which is about a half an hour drive from my house. Every once in awhile I think it's worth the drive to go up to Aldi because some of the items they carry are really great and their prices cannot be beat. The few times I've been here I have had no problems with getting a cart, getting help from an employee, or finding anything I'm looking for. The only thing I wish they had is a gyro kit like they do at some other locations. I am also hoping they will carry the seasonal items in September and October such as the German items. The store itself is in a great shopping center that is very clean and looks nice. Just make sure you bring a quater to get a shopping cart. read more

Aldi is a great little store in Vista to grab groceries, snacks, and many other things for an amazing discount price. While some things are priced as they would be at a Walmart or maybe slightly even cheaper, there are better quality and some things are even much cheaper! For example, I just picked up a dozen large eggs for $0.69! Again, it is hard not to buy almost everything you see in the store, as much of it is very unique and imported from Germany. They have delicious European chocolates for a steal, which blows Hershey's or Nestle out of the water! They also have meats, cheeses, and produce sales of each week. Favorites are the apple butter, which you get a huge jar for less than $3, and the speculoos cookie butter. They've also got delicious ice cream, cream puffs, and other desserts for an affordable price. While many of the things that I purchase were only 1 to $2, it quickly adds up when you purchase 20 or so items. Finally, after looking at reviews of the stores signature $2 wines, which end up at $2.50 with tax, called the Winking Owl, I decided on a bottle of their Moscato - which is very irregular for me. However, the wine ended up being delicious! With rich notes of apricot and orange, the Winking Owl easily rates as well or better than Three Buck Chuck from Trader Joe's or the similar $3 wine from Walmart (and even as good as some $20 wines I've had), at even a slightly more affordable rate. All in all, this is an amazing discount grocery store that reminds me of my time back in Germany, and I try to visit it whenever I'm down in Vista and need a few groceries. read more

Have read and heard a lot about ALDI. The size of the store and the selection was much smaller than expected. The items they do have are very competitively priced = good deals ! It is about 12 miles from home, so if I was in Escondido or San Marcos for other reasons I might stop there on the way home. Probably should bring a cooler if I were buying refrigerated items. read more

I just can't get behind this ALDI train. It reminds me of Fresh and Easy mixed with Walmart. They have a good organic selection of produce so I do very much appreciate that. However, their selection of German products isn't that vast. I like that when you go to a Japanese, Korean, or Chinese store you find ever importable item at those locations. When I went to Aldi and went to the fruit section I immediately noticed swarms of flies around me. I was disgusted! They were all over the fruit and some were dead. I can understand one or two flies but there were at least 50 flies all over the fruit! read more

They need more cashiers. It's annoying when you are in a hurry and they tell you to move into another empty cashier line. Now you have to wait some more till that person arrives and now the person who was behind you in the original line, has been checked out and long gone home to enjoy their non melted ice cream bars. Selection is a bit limited so its like Trader Joes in that way. What they do have is generally lower price per higher quality than average. I especially like their salami, cheeses, sausages and smoked salmon. The smoked salmon is the least expensive I have seen in years but still delicious and as a smoked salmon lover, I am thrilled! The times I have been there, aisles have been clean and wide and customer service has been friendly. Checkout and bagging is a bit confusing as it's not standard for America but hey, I can adapt. This place does not endeavor to be a standard grocery store with everything you ever wanted, but as a niche store like Trader Joe's, it succeeds well. read more

I love this place! Great prices on food and they have upped their organic and unprocessed, No artificial anything game. Hopefully it will only get better. I won't even shop at Albertsons, Walmart, Stater Bros., etc anymore unless there is something I can't find at Aldi. Then I usually just go over to Target in order to avoid Walmart and the rude people who frequent it like the plague. Also I think more stores should charge to use their carts. They wouldn't have to spend money to pay someone to go retrieve them all over town and less people's cars will get damaged seeing as how people who use the free carts are too lazy to put them back. So the parking lot is littered with carts. Look at Aldis parking lot compared to Walmarts. If you have to spend a quarter to rent a cart you are going to bring it back to where it belongs to get your money back. Kudos to you Aldi! read more

This is a great store with great prices. I see people have a problem with having to deposit a quarter to get a shopping cart, I had absolutely no problem with this because I understand the reasons they do it. They have one central location for cart returns so that they don't have to spend time retrieving carts. Everything about this store is engineered to keep costs low. Almost all of the merchandise is a store brand and I have been satisfied with 99% of what I have tried. There might not be tons of variety, but what they do have is priced low. Bring your own bags. They do have some you can buy but I don't know what they charge for them because I always have my own bags. (Everybody should get into the habit of bringing bags to stores anyway...) Check out the flyers but remember that the best bargains are limited and once they run out of them that is it for the week. I got some chicken legs last week for 49 cents per pound but the week before they were sold out of the thighs that were a similar price. Produce section is small, but the prices are great! The staff is very friendly. The cashier I had last week even ran to the back of the store to get something I was asking her about. Above and beyond the call of duty in my opinion!! I will be splitting my grocery shopping now between Aldi and Costco. I gave up on Walmart ages ago and it is nice to have a new discount alternative! read more

I was so excited to finally see an Aldi's out here. Their prices are always great and the products to me are just as good. I see a lot of people complaining about the carts but I really don't see what the big deal is? Would you rather have a parking lot full of carts? Also if you don't want to buy bags you can always grab the boxes that are empty or sometimes they have the crate of boxes out and those are free like Costco style. I think it's going to take some getting used to for some but it truly cuts you grocery bill in half when you don't have all the extras to look at! read more
