Yesterday Oct 4, 2026, I was at Albertsons's at 1301 E Vista Way, Vista Ca. 92084, it was a little…read morebit before 9 am and I needed to get in line, the only available cash register that was open was the express register 15 items or less and the self checkout. There were 3 people standing in the express line, 2 women that had more than 15 items and 1 man that had one item. The two women that had more than 15 items had no other choice than to go through the express lane because there were no other cash registers open other than self checkout. The cashier at the express checkout all of a sudden turned off her light and told the two women that had been standing in line way before I arrived that her lane was now closed just leaving them hanging and not trying to find another cashier to assist them. The cashier at the self check out heard me telling the two women that were left at the express lane that what the cashier did to them was not right. The gracious self checkout cashier found someone else to open up so the one woman who was 1st in line at the express lane could be assisted, I then let the man with one item in front of me and the 2nd woman who was behind the 1st woman go in front of me as well. Talk about terrible customer service, i was appalled at how these 3 people were treated. When I got home I called the store and asked to speak to a manager, I was told that there were no available managers because they weren't working on Sunday and the same for the assistant store managers. I then asked to speak to someone that was in charge, which was the lead cashier Jose. I explained to him what I witnessed and he said he would investigate as to what happened and address it with the cashier that closed her register leaving customers just standing there. I did express to him that I hoped that he does have a conversation with the cashier because I really wanted to send an email to Albertson's. His response was that he didn't want me to send an email and to give him the opportunity to handle the situation, he then said to me he knew he couldn't tell me what to do, but to give him a chance to address what happened with the cashier. I really hope that he did speak to all of the employees involved. But I'm very disappointed in how the 3 other customers were treated and I find it hard to understand that there were no Managers at the store to help. What's up with that Albertson's? Are the managers so above the other employees that they don't have to work on a Sunday?
