Have been coming to Encinitas farms for a number of years. They have a good assortment of fresh fruits, berries and veggies as well as some premade foods in the refrigerator. On the side they are selling Christmas trees these days as well. I used to stop by here to pickup berries now and then but on this trip found that they were carrying Old Town bread and spotted the jalapeño and cheese bread so I grabbed a loaf. I normally do my produce shopping at the local grocery stores EXCEPT on Super Bowl Sundays. Every year for the past few years, I purchase strawberries from this stand the day of/before Super Bowl Sunday (I make chocolate covered strawberries that look like footballs, and larger strawberries are ideal. This stand usually has large berries at the top of three baskets, hence my yearly visit). Each year, the purchase is fine-- no major complaints other than tossing a berry or three in the garbage, but no big deal. This year, however, after trying my best to pick the baskets that looked the healthiest, I discovered that half of the $18 3pk of strawberries were spoiled/moldy while I was washing them only 20 minutes after purchasing. It felt terrible throwing away half of what was purchased on top of not being able to have as many strawberries as was needed for a party. Who shops here? I stopped on a whim because I pass it every day. However, the prices are absolutely outrageous! For example, $3 per avocado? $1 per kiwi? $10 for a 16oz guacamole? $18 for 3 baskets of strawberries? Drive less than ten minutes north, and go to the fresh produce market off the 78! Or Vista is full of produce stands for a third of the price! I don't know how they stay in business. I literally laughed out loud when I saw the guac price. read more

This veggie stand is a cute "farm like" Ambiance. The employees are very friendly. This is common stop for us. We mostly buy the Bread from Old Town, Salsa/Chips, Strawberries and TAMALES!!! These Tamales are delicious. They usually sell them Thursday-Sunday. Worth the drive and wait. read more

I needed to pick up some berries so we stopped by for our first time. I have always seen the stand off the road and have been wanting to stop by. I've seen it also referred to as the La Costa Farm market. The place was open and had a reasonable amount of fruits and vegetables in stock. Prices weren't outrageous as I would have thought. We picked up some raspberries and strawberries. They were much sweeter than what I would have picked up at the supermarket. I will definitely be back for more veggies and fruit. I just watched a young woman use gloves to put chocolate covered pretzels in the bag and while she had the gloves on, she went and took money credit cards touch the register counter everything, and then went back with the same gloves and continued picking up pretzels and putting them in the bag. my daughters car broke down and had a flat tire so they had me come get them they politely approached the owner and said we have to call AAA but there's no safe place on the highway and he said if your car is not off my property by 7 PM will tow it as I arrived I saw this grown man wag his fingers in front of teenagers and yelled at them I'm very disappointed because this used to be a place that was very community oriented it must be under new ownership do not go there do not support a man who would let teenagers be in danger on the side of a busy highway and then deny it! read more

Rude and should just let it go if we feel like there are a couple bad strawberries in a basket - the customer is always right! (Even if technically it is their policy that customers cannot "strawberry-pick"). I noticed a flat tire on my vehicle after shopping here. I became flustered as I had just picked up my mom from the airport with tons of suitcases in the back and my toddler in the car. We were trying to figure out roadside assistance towing and getting an Uber for my mom and toddler to get home. The owner approached us asking how long we're planning to stay with our car there while I am mid phone call with roadside assistance. There were NO OTHER CUSTOMERS THERE AT THE TIME. Why is he so concerned that I'm taking up a spot? And is this how you treat paying customers? Especially a family stranded with a child? So insensitive and rude. read more

I came here to get strawberries and there were a couple mushy brown ones in the cartons that they sell so I switched a couple out because I am not going to pay for ones I'm not going to eat and the man got really rude and defensive about it rather than asking me nicely. The fact that I couldn't switch out two nasty looking strawberries from other cartons kinda made me not like this place especially how he talked to me rudely. When the strawberries are good, they're delicious but today I had a bad experience with it one of the men who worked at the stand and noticed a lot of not so pretty strawberries and fruit. Only go here if you don't mind having a mix of good and bad strawberries. Very rude service. Not worth it. read more

This place is solid. We have never had an issue after three years. Don't send teenagers to pick out your produce and your fine. We saw a couple bad reviews and that seems to be the only problem but there are times and places for softened fruit etc. read more

Owner is extremely rude with the worst attitude toward customers I have seen in a long time from any business. Does this business owner think that other regular customers won't notice this bad attitude and unbelievably horrible customer service? Previously a repeat customer for many years, I will NEVER go back. This is kind of insane that I'm actually writing a bad review of a "fresh" fruit stand but, eh I digress. The watermelon was sandy af, dry, tasteless. At least my chickens were happy with it. The blackberries tasted old, the "banana loaf " was pound cake with a dusting of pecans didn't taste like bananas at all (maybe it wasn't supposed to? But when you put an ingredient on a product I expect to taste like it.)The apples were huge, nice, and hard (just how I like them). I have to say they didn't really taste super fresh either. I had the peaches for a day and opened them up to them being sandy and rotted in spots. There were a few parts that I tried to salvage again just disappointed. I have never run into a fruit stand where all the fruit was an absolute waste of time. I bought a total of $50 worth of bread and fruit and I feel like Sprouts or Trader Joe's had better produce. Stopped by this place yesterday. I was happy to see chocolate covered strawberries and bread. Its a nice little stand however it was clear the young lady that was working the stand was not happy to be there. She was rude, we asked a couple questions and gave one word answers without really answering our questions. I ended up buying bread and strawberries. The strawberries were good but the banana bread was bland, I thought maybe it was homemade but it tasted like it came from a box mix. The bad attitude alone will keep me from going back. Head on over to this lovely little fruit and vegetables stand and have a look around but do yourself a favor and go over to the refrigerator with the home made salsa, grab the red "ranchera" salsa, says mild but it's slightly spicy, and grab a bag of tortilla chips.
