They have a great local farm stand here on Sundays with so much variety each week and abundance!!! The produce here is so fresh, delicious, and all organic. I appreciate what they do for the community and their pay-what-you-can model is amazing. Please check it out and support if you can.

I went to Coastal Roots Farm as a chaperone for my child's field trip. The staff was attentive and kind. The parking attendant was friendly and guided me to my group. The kids participated in various activities and even made a snack from all of the produce that was grown in the farm. Overall it was a fun experience and we can't wait to go back as a family.

Really nice farm stand next to the Butterfly Garden. Lots of parking. Nice fresh seasonal produce. A few things you can't find in stores. I got a watermelon radish and some baby eggplant, both delicious and unique. There s bagged spring mix. They also have farm fresh eggs. Nice little place to visit or shop regularly if you're nearby.

This is a wonderful produce stand conveniently located next to a butterfly farm we were visiting. We stopped in and picked up some freshly harvested kale and collards. There was a nice variety of produce available and the attendants were extremely helpful and friendly. Definitely looking forward to stopping here again.

My son's school had a field trip here today. It was a lot of fun! There were three stations set up: 1. Nature snack, which consisted of teaching the kids how to harvest chard or Dino kale for the taco shell of their snack. Kids learned what to look for when selecting a healthy piece of chard or lettuce. 2. Worms! Kids were given a small pile of compost they had to sort through and separate by worms, soil, plants and other matter. Kids of course just played with the worms 3. Take home a plant. Kids learned how to plant a seed in their own pea pots. They planted sugar snap peas! They were also given paper bags to transport their potted plants so soil and seeds wouldn't end up all over the car. At the end, in the back they had a play section for the kids to run around and burn as much energy. The farm also gives away produce for up to $30 to those that cannot afford to pay. For those that can, the produce can be purchased by donations. Very awesome place and will be coming back here again!

The best local gem around! Always appreciate the community efforts and friendly faces on Thursday/Sundays

I love coming here and supporting their mission. The freshest, in season produce. It's donation-based, so I usually round up my purchases.

Visits are by appointment only, so my husband and I booked a session on Valentine's Day. This was hands down the best animal experience we've had, thanks to the amazing staff and adorable animals. The animals were friendly, engaging, and active, which is a testament to how happy and well cared for they are. Each party is given a complimentary bucket of lettuce to feed the animals, with more available for purchase. We got to pet and feed not only mini pigs, but also goats, ducks, chickens, and even a large, handsome turkey. And because it was Valentine's Day, the staff passed around glasses of sparkling wine for guests, which was an extra special touch. The setting is tucked away in a mountainous area, making it feel like a hidden gem off the beaten path. It was the perfect stop on our way to San Diego. We're definitely looking forward to returning again next time!

It's easy to fill up the bucket with ripe strawberries quick. Although it doesn't seem like there's a lot of strawberries at first glance, there's a lot as I walked through the rows of strawberry plants - that was part of the fun! One thing I wasn't prepared for was the dirt and how muddy the strawberry rows were. I'm not sure if it was always that wet. Perhaps it was because it rained earlier in the day? My shoes got extremely dirty and there wasn't a convenient way to wash it off there. I recommend wearing rain boots. In addition to strawberries, there was a sunflower maze and a separate section for a simple sunflower field. For those who don't want to worry about food, there's vendors and food trucks on site. They also sell jam and fresh strawberries at the stand, which doesn't require an admissions ticket. Service wasn't anything special. The staff there were efficient and friendly. Overall, I enjoyed my time there and I recommend visitors trying out the U-Pick experience!

I've been in touch with Agnes, the owner and operator, for a few years now and she does it all. It's inspiring to see how much love and effort goes into keeping this sanctuary running for the animals who call it home. They offer family-friendly daily tours where you can feed the animals directly- horses, pigs, bison, goats, ducks, tortoises, camels, bulls, and more! Pro tip: go early in the morning before it gets too warm. Hours are 10 AM - 5 PM, 7 days a week (closed Thanksgiving & Christmas). They also host birthday parties and private events. I actually celebrated my 37th birthday here with about 25 friends and kids. We got a private tour with Agnes herself, and the best part? Our donation was tax-deductible since they're a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. It felt meaningful knowing our celebration helped sustain the farm's mission. To help fund operations, they also grow their own vegetables, herbs, greens, and squash onsite. You can text 866-612-6520 to get on their weekly veggie list and orders can be picked up at the farm or Wednesdays at Kohl's in Santee. They even offer volunteer opportunities year-round. We brought my 16-year-old nephew once to help clean the goat area. It was a hands-on, memorable experience to give back and see the difference a few hours can make.
