I had been searching for a fresh fruit and veggie delivery service that delivers to my home. I did a lot of research and finally chose daily harvest. I like the free deliver, the different options in types of boxes and the option to add extra produce or treats. I chose the medium fruit/veggie combo box for myself and my husband. It is really the perfect size (possibly just a bit more than we need). I really enjoy cooking at home, especially with fresh fruits and veggies. They deliver to my area every Monday, which is perfect for planning meals for the work week. I also appreciate that they usually have some time of lettuce (kale, spinach, or a few varieties) so salad is always on the menu. They also send a news letter, and recipes a few days before in order to shop and plan meals. read more

We used to live by normal street and were able to enjoy walking to the farmers market every Sunday. However, given the light of recent events we decided we still want to support local organic food in our area and this was it! We ordered a box of fruit and veggies for delivery. We were out of fresh veggies because we are on week 3 of lockdown and that just how it is. So being a vegan it was starting to look like it was going to be canned and frozen from here on out. Daily Harvest to the rescue! I ordered a "build your own box" about a week earlier and by Wednesday received an "air drop" of tasty veggies just as the last of our fresh veggies went into the crock pot. We love the "build your own box" option, everything was fresh, tasty and we are now good for the next couple of weeks. Oh and be sure to get the chocolate chip cookies; they are delicious. My first CSA purchase. It was not bad but not the best either. For $26 I got the small box which had a lot of oranges 3 hard tomatoes 1 artichoke 1 small butternut squash, red leaf lettuce, a small bag of spinach that was nearly gone, and 3 tiny apples. One was weirdly sticky. The tomatoes went bad after 2 days even though they were hard. They must have been refrigerated which is gross. Anyway I was not impressed and decided to try a different CSA which is WAY better in quality and quantity for $1 less. I guess they are OK in a pinch but I just read a review they are not delivering to SD anymore....not sure if that's right or not. read more

I'm impressed! A business worth supporting. Visited their new-ish store front today in Carlsbad and got to see first hand the quality of their fruits and veggies! I'm wishy washy about eating organic and, while I love supporting my local small businesses, I don't go out of my way to do so. Daily Harvest happens to be by my work, so I decided to stop by and see what they're all about. They're mainly a CSA and have been offering CSA boxes since 2013. They recently opened a store front in Carlsbad, where they do their packing and have farmers drop off their products weekly. I talked with Janice, the lovely wife of the wife-and-husband team, and she told me that their fruit farmers drop off on Tuesday and their veggie farmers drop off on Saturday. The shopping area is tiny, little more than a small fruit stand, and it's tucked away in the middle of the industrial business park it's located in. Most of the space is used for packing and deliveries. Slightly difficult to find, but I carefully looked at the park map and found my way. When I came in, they had hanging baskets full of plums, grapefruit, avocados, fingerling potatoes, carrots, squash, celery, red romaine, pears, Braeburn and gala apples, delicata melons, sweet onions, red onions, & some other fruits/veggies that I can't recall. It was a decent selection and everything was neat and well organized. They also carry some teas, almond butter, dairy products, spice mixes, and nuts. All from the Southern California region I believe. The prices were a bit more than the organic section of a Ralph's. I saw prices like 3 plums for $3. $1/avocado. $1.50/grapefruit. 15 fingerling potatoes for $2.50. $3/Kale bunch or red romaine bunch or celery bunch. $4.50/4 or 5 Persian cucumbers. The fruits and veggies all looked awesome though. Very fresh for having sat out all day and having gotten there on Tuesday or last Saturday. The red romaine lettuce bunch was quite literally the most beautiful lettuce I've ever seen! The leaves were just perfect. I took a picture so go look at it. The price has always been the main reason I don't participate in CSAs and the prices here are a little high too. Janice talked to me a little bit about their CSA program while I was there. She told me they have the perfect option for commitment-phobes! They have this online ordering system where you can choose how much of each fruit or veggie you want in a box and if the order is over $25, they'll deliver free to certain zip codes! That's perfect for people who might not want a box regularly. They also have drop off locations like callaway golf or viasat (I think). I definitely like that this place supports local farmers and I want to support Janice and her husband, so I'll come back every other week or so and buy some beautiful fruits and veggies. I like that I can get delicata melons here or really interesting squash and other "exotic" fruits/veggies that I won't be able to get at the store. read more

I have tried farm services in the past and we were never happy enough to continue for long. I started service with Daily Harvest Express at the beginning of the pandemic and it has been amazing. With fresh fruits, veggies, and eggs coming weekly, we were able to stock up on non-perishables and push off grocery shopping for up to 3 weeks. With order add ons easy to do, we often added fresh bread, olive oil, or cheese. I recommend this company to everyone. An added, unexpected bonus, was that we got veggies that were not in our normal rotation. I had my 11 year old look up recipes and she became much more open to new foods. I noticed that over the year we have been ordering, she has become a much less picky eater! read more

I have been looking for a CSA/CSA-like service in San Diego. My initial google searches brought me to Daily Harvest Express. They have a great website, easy to use, friendly. Placing an order and getting a delivery was all seamless and great. The actual product itself was barely just okay. I got the fruit and veggie farm box in medium size. The quality of the produce was good. Nothing too dirty or rotten. However, when I am paying 34$ for produce, I expect a bit more. The medium box said it was for 2 people. I bought it for myself thinking that I will have enough. It has been two days and I have finished everything in it, except for a few oranges. Here is what I received: 3 small beets, a bunch (5-6) small/medium carrots, 1 green bellpepper, 1 yellow onion, 3-4 persian cucumbers, 2 yellow squash, a bunch of cilantro, a bag of salad greens, 2-3 tiny apples (2-3 biter), 2 oranges, and 2 of another orange-citrus fruit. If I went to a grocery store this would be about 10$, maybe 15$. I understand that it is organic and fresh, but I feel like I really got the short end of the deal here, judging by the pictures on here and their website. For the quality, yes its great. For the yield vs price point, it is abysmal. I am going to try other CSAs in the areas that seem to be cheaper and have more variety/quantity. We ordered a Daily Harvest box (organically grown and locally harvested fruit) for our office and everyone loved it! We always order fresh fruit and veggies for our office to enjoy throughout the week. Although the veggie option won't work for us (we need finger food type veggies) the fruit box was great. I love Daily Harvest Express. I get the veggie box delivered to my house weekly and also get free-range eggs every other week. They added El Napolito and Bread & Cie to their line up - now I get my favorite salsa/ chips and a selection of fresh breads every week too. It's all the best. One day I stopped by DHE's cute storefront and sampled the Baker & Olive EVOO and Balsamics and came home with some excellent selections. The owners Janis, Rafael and Ivonne are such nice people. I've been receiving weekly farm boxes from Daily Harvest Express for the past year at least and I could not speak any more highly of them (including the team and this service). Think farmers market delivered to your door! Beautiful, seasonal, fresh, organic produce that also supports our local farmers. Additionally, any leftover produce is donated to help feed our community, and the boxes can be recycled too! Personally I like the "surprise" box as it helps me get and stay inspired in the kitchen using the freshest seasonal items, but you can make selections if surprises aren't your thing. Each box also comes with relevant recipes. If I'm ever out of town, a simple message is all it takes to skip a delivery. Definitely give them a go! read more

I get the small fruit and veggie box every other week and it's awesome. I always feel a little overwhelmed in the produce section of the grocery store because I want to be sure I'm only buying things I will eat, I'm not great at choosing the freshest items, sometimes I don't know what things are, how to cook them, or which ones I like (looking at you bazillion apple varieties). This box solves all of those problems for me, which is great. It is a good amount for 1-2 people for 1-2 weeks (it's just me and it's good for 2 weeks). It usually includes a lettuce and a standard fruit (e.g. apples, oranges, or pears). As a result, I've been able to eat a greater variety of greens and finally figure out what some of those apple varieties taste like. I've also convinced one of my friends that pears are actually delicious with a pear from a box. It does say it's local farms and I have seen stickers on the apples that are outside California so I do question a little where the items come from, but the taste and freshness are there and the anxiety is reduced so I can let a few errant apple stickers slide. read more

I love this company! I just received my second shipment at work through their Farm to Desk program and I think this is the best creation ever. I just head down to my break room every Tuesday and pick up my purchases of local veggies. So far I have tried the eggs, large veggie box, tangerines and honey. Everything was fresh and tasted great. It all stayed cold till I got off work about 4 hours later. I ordered the large veggie box to challenge myself to eat it all before the next shipment, it takes a little doing as 1 person but I did it and I lost 1.5 lbs in 1 week! (And I didn't have much time to exercise that week!) I will continue this program and continue trying their vast array of products and boxes, next up is their olive oil selection, coffee and the juicers box! read more

I am so frustrated with this business. I have been ordering this past year from them. Sometimes the order is fine. The website is difficult to maneuver. I just received an email from them stating that I ordered $9.00 worth of onions weekly & to go pick them up! I called, yet again, to straighten things out. I was told that I ordered them on the website weekly. How the hell did I do that? I only order once a week for a delivery. I gave up on logging in w/pw, the site never accepts the info that I have. My last order came with the stone fruit on the bottom w/onions and lemons on top of them so that they bruised. I called & the next day they delivered more. Now I have two boxes with apricots, peaches & nectarines with no flavor! I have never in my life had an apricot with zero flavor. I called to cancel the onions to be picked up every week & told her about the flavorless fruit. I was informed that "it is always that way at the beginning of the season". What? The fruit & vegetables are supposed to be all organic. How does "a certified organic farmer" produce fruit with no flavor? I think the only thing to do now is just quit ordering from this company. read more
