Baby food- vegan friendly, organic. They make a great on-the-go snack!
Mirna E.

Such a weird store, with weird layout. Very small grocery store. If you're familiar with Fresh and Easy, it's similar to that but with less variety. They have some bread goods, fresh produce, deli, canned foods, snacks, etc. They even sell random things like pajamas and dog beds to name a few. I came here to check out the vegan options and left satisfied. Not sure if I'll make another trip out here as it is out of my way and it highly depends on whether or not I like what I bought. But nevertheless, there were tons of canned beans, veggies and fruit, chips, frozen burgers, hotdogs, cheese, nut/seed snacks, drinks, bread, baby food/snacks, diapers and wipes. So a nice a variety for what it's worth. You do have to take a quarter to get your shopping cart to unlock. You'll get your quarter back when you return it- how's that for an incentive?! The cashier quickly rings you up and tosses items I. Your cart. You are then expected to take your cart over to the table area and bag your own items. I get that this is faster but it's weird and kind of inconvenient. With that said, I've been to Aldi twice. I have yet to see if I'll make another trip as the first time I wasn't impressed and I'm on the fence after this second trip. Bring your bags and a quarter. A good friend of my be says Wednesday's are the day to go- new inventory as it's always changing- much like the dollar stores.

Aldi's isn't a place to your regular grocery shopping, but more to supplement it. I come here for the great prices on beer, wine, and other adult beverages. Their prices are even less than Costco. :) Sometimes they offer other deals like $0.54 for a dozen eggs. Here's the secret to shopping at Aldi: Green tags - normal prices and always stocked Black tags - new items Red tags - limited items, could disappear any time Bring a quarter if you want to use the shopping cart. But you get it back when you return the cart. There's 7 checkout lanes but I've only seen one open. You have to bring your own bags or you'll pay $0.79 per bag. Like other discount grocery stores, you have to bag your own groceries.

Package of 8 whole fresh Jalapeno Peppers for 25 cents. The bummer is that these Jalapeno Peppers tasted like Green Bell Peppers (No heat).

My wife came home with a big smile and told me she bought a whole bag of Jalapeno peppers for 25 cents (8 whole peppers inside the bag). I told her that was "impossible" to sell packaged jalapenos for that price. So I open the bag and cut off a piece of one jalapeno and put it in my mouth and found zero heat. Then I simply ate the rest of the Jalapeno and found the overall heat level at a 1 out of 10. It was simply a bell pepper that looked like a Jalapeno. The next day my four-year-old grandson was at our house. I told him that Grandma had gotten ripped off at ALDI by thinking she had bought Jalapenos but instead got some cross-breed of mostly green bell pepper. He asked to try one and he proceeded to do what I did. First a small piece and then he bit off big bites of the pepper. It is clear that J&J dumped these peppers on ALDI at a giveaway price and this enabled ALDI to sell for 25 cents a package. I like ALDI, but be more careful you don't commit fraud with the products you sell. These packages should have been labelled something different than "Jalapeno" - Maybe "Bell Pepper Jalapeno" I have been in the Jalapeno and bell pepper growing business for almost 40 years. I have had this happen where the fields are planted too close together and the seeds become a cross bread. Then when you plant those seeds you get a mixed heat Jalapeno. I will tell you that as the peppers aged until they were over-ripened they did get a little spicier. They started out as a 1 out of 10 (for Jalapenos) and the last one that was maximum ripped was a 4 out of 10).

Big store

WOW, outstanding. This is what I would call an Aldi Mega Store. I have been to Aldi stores in Germany, England, and US east coast stores in New York and North Carolina. This one has them all beat. Huge selection, clean, organized, and a fantastic produce section. I like Aldi's. They deliver great value. This store is in a league of its own.

Madelaine usually amends the dirt to improve the growth of the plants. I lived on and tended to 3/4 acres and hardly bought any produce the entire time I was there...I composted and grew squash, oranges (fertilized with fish if you can believe it), figs, lemons, and 6 raised beds...and a ton of herbs in my greenhouse window; I highly recommend mint, scallions, cilantro, and basil for every kitchen...it's easy, economical...and nothing beats that fresh flavor and not having to go grocery shopping to prepare dinner! I also taught my cousin's kids to garden. They are big fans of my three favorite flowers to start kids on gardening: snapdragons (they love to squeeze the sides so that the mouth opens and closes), cosmos (these are drought resistant and self-seeding), and forget-me-nots (who wouldn't love a bouquet of these friendly flowers?). Additionally snapdragons do not require digging into dirt to start...they only need to be sprinkled onto dirt and two weeks of direct sunlight...how easy is that?! If you collect the snapdragon seeds you can start more seedlings...and snapdragons bloom twice a year... I could spend hours talking about organic gardening...I think I did when I met Madalaine at the Farmer's Market...it's healthy, local, and actually tastes better...go green, local, and organic San Diegans!

Frazier Farms is almost the perfect grocery store. Grass-fed meat, wild caught fish, fresh local…read moreproduce, and tasty bread baked in-house: there is something here for everyone. Additionally, their sushi, smoothie bar and pre-made foods are top notch - they are MILES ahead of any of the "big" grocery stores. So the question is - if they are so great, why do they only have 4 stars on Yelp? One major reason is that they stretch their products. If you don't check the expiration date on every product you purchase, you will end up buying something months after it expired. I purchased a Brie-en-croute on sale for Super Bowl. I was so excited to try it. When I opened the box, the product had mold all over it. I looked at the expiration date and it was not supposed to expire for another week. Then I looked more closely. They had an expiration sticker that was on the box that had already passed, and then they put another sticker on top of that one with a different expiration date. That's not accidental - that's intentional. I definitely felt taken advantage of. Is it enough to make me stop shopping at Frazier Farms? Absolutely not. But, if this grocery outlet wants to improve, they need to look into why so many products on the shelves are expired. I understand not wanting to waste things. But you can't put new stickers on top of old stickers while selling a moldy product. I hope someone in management reads this review, and takes it seriously. I don't have time to go back to Fraziers every time I have to return an expired product. If that changes, I will change this review to 5 stars.
