First time buying at this one store, excellent customer service, manager saw long line, and reacted. That's the service I'm used to (coming from a different state)

Parking was scarce but doable. Some customers parked in the grass.

My friend told me about the deals her dad got at this store last weekend and then my Dad told me about it a few days ago so I had to visit. Likes: - Tons of customers milling about in the store led to a festive atmosphere - Customers even parked on the grass - Bria the cashier was super sweet and automatically got another loaf of bread for my Dad who unintentionally smushed the original loaf by letting other groceries sit on top of it - Nice reusable plastic bags provided after you check out. You bag your purchases yourself. - Cheap prices (e.g. $2.29 for a 24-pack of 8-oz water bottles, $1.89 gallon milk, $0.79 for a dozen eggs, $0.39 for a huge tasty mango that would've cost $1 at Kroger, etc...) - Small store doesn't require lots of walking - Short, fast checkout lines Dislikes: - Too many processed "foods" in the first aisle you see (the one closest to the entrance) - Having to bring a quarter to temporarily check out a shopping cart confused some customers but they had staff to explain to people how to unlock a shopping cart. You get the quarter back when you return it. - They don't accept credit cards--just cash, debit, or government assistance cards

Oh Aldi, I love you, I've missed you. I recently moved from DFW to Houston, and was super excited when I learned they were building Aldi's here. Apparently those who posted negative reviews didn't do their research before shopping here. They buy local and stock generics only, which keeps prices down. You bag your own groceries, which keeps prices down. Don't forget to bring a quarter to rent a shopping cart (and you get your quarter back when you return it), which, as you can guess.....keeps prices down. If you cook and bake a lot like myself, you might not have much preference for who produces your pantry items, basic dairy products, and other non perishable ingredients. They have a small beer and wine selection (one brand is less than $3!) and rotate some of them as well. They carry a small selection of produce at low prices. At my old store (you can see my past review), some of the shoppers claim this store cut their grocery bill in half. While I don't have a large family, shopping here did reduce my bill significantly. I still have to shop elsewhere for other weekly staple items, but I'm a dedicated Aldi customer. If you are looking for name brands, bulk grains, a hand cut steak or free range anything, all wrapped in a warm and fuzzy shopping experience, you need to go elsewhere. If you are looking to supplement your pantry and fridge with staple items at a cheap price while getting in and out quickly, grab your reusable bags as fast as you can.

Aldi ROCKS! They have a "no frills" concept that allows them to keep prices low. You have to pay a quarter to get a shopping cart but when you return it, the quarter is returned to you. This keeps them from having to collect carts from the parking lot like other grocery stores. You also have to bring your own shopping bags (or buy them there) and bag your own groceries. Lastly - and this is very important - they don't take credit cards! It's cash, debit or EBT only. All that said, their prices are amazing! When was the last time you saw a gallon of milk for $1.89? Or a dozen eggs for $0.79? Go to Aldi and you'll see it today!

I couldn't make it down the first aisle which is where the produce is at due to the amount of people that were coming in all at once but I was able to go down another aisle.

There's lychee, coconut, mangoes, plum, mangosteen, jackfruit, durian, and much more. There are some frozen options in their freezer section, but there's a lot of fresh fruit options. There's also fruit drinks and smoothie options that you can order in the cashier area. Space is a little bit limited, watch your step. Most of their fresh fruits are not refrigerated and so they do as much as I can to provide a fresh selection daily.

There are fruits are very fresh and you can smell them immediately feeling the air Once you walk through the front door. A lot of their fresh fruits on the shelves are not refrigerated. But despite that, they're still very fresh which does speak to the level of commitments that the store has in ensuring a fresh supply. They also offer a variety of pressed juices like sugar cane and pennyworth that I was able to try. The sugar cane was very refreshing and not overly sweet. The amount of ice was also fairly appropriate and not overly done. They will try to fulfill your order as quickly as they can, but if they forget, just give them a gentle reminder.

This is no frills steam table/cafeteria style Vietnamese on the back of probably the largest Vietnamese grocery store in Houston and it is great. Pricing starts at $6.99 for rice and two entrees but goes up based on the rice/noodle type and the entrees selected. All of ours (3) were 8.99, but packed (the kids tapped out early) and delicious. I had this beef stew that you would otherwise only find at someone's grandma's house that was killer. Got some turnip cake on the side but everything looked good. You've got to be brave if you're apprehensive about your communication skills, but no risk no reward

The store can get pretty busy, but that's usually a good sign of how popular it is. Prices are reasonable, and you can find things here you won't see at regular grocery stores. It's not the most organized place, but if you take your time, you'll find what you need (and probably a few extras). Definitely a go-to for specialty items.
