a view of a shopping center from the street

I honestly really love having an Aldi location in Layhill's Shopping Center. It's so convenient and I appreciate that everything is pretty much affordable with still very good quality items for purchase. This Aldi location is a bit on the smaller end compared to other locations that I've seen. The staff is friendly but many of them do not speak english very well so be patient and work with them. Another issue that I have is that their products are fairly limited. They don't have a large variety of items to choose from so you may have to go elsewhere to find what you're looking for (I couldn't find Puff Pastry Sheets)! Parking is a bit frustrating as well since it tends to be a bit crowded and many people are walking back and forth to their cars and the store. I'd say to just be mindful and park further away if you're worried about someone tapping your car and such. Otherwise, it's a very convenient grocery store to have! They're taking COVID19 precautions very seriously and limiting how many people can enter at a time!

The cashier who said "It's my cart." When I asked if I could use it.

One star for the service by a checker today at the Aldi's on Bel Pre. That's him in the photo. I didn't have my purse with me as I planned to pay with Apple Pay. I only planned to pick up a couple of things and didn't get a cart. Nor did I have a quarter. I didn't realize until too late that I bought more than I meant to (what else is new?) I went up to this cashier and asked him if I could please use the unused cart literally and behind him. He looked at me and told me with a straight face, "It's mine. " I couldn't tell if he was kidding so I asked if he was serious. He was! Geez. Funny, I just came from the Smoothie King next door and paid for the smoothie for the fellow behind me. I guess I wrongly assumed this cashier would be kind also. No worries folks, I gave the cashier back HIS cart before I left.

This location regularly doesn't have enough checkout registers open to meet demand. Also the produce leaves much to be desired as it often goes bad within 24-48 hours after purchase. Parking lot is very congested and it's often hard to find a spot.

So cheap!!! For basic groceries this place is much better than Giant or Safeway.

How does Aldi compare with Trader Joe's as far as quality? I know that they are owed by the same company, but that doesn't mean that the food is the same quality, I.e. Gap vs. Banana Republic?

I much prefer Aldi to Trader Joe's, and have never had an issue with quality. I actually prefer their produce selection to TJ, as the fruit and veggies always seem closer to being ripe right now instead of in a day or so. I honestly feel that many… Read more

Butler's is our family favorite. It is only about a 35 minutes drive from DC and you are out in…read morethe "farm". Great family fun to bring the kids. Over the years, we've done apple, strawberry, and blueberry picking here, but the fall pumpkin festival is the best. There are tons of activities for the little ones - hayrides, a corn maze, farm animals, and more. Tubby's BBQ is on-site if you need lunch. The line can be long, but it moves quickly. It is on the pricier side, but well worth it. The farm is beautiful, the experience is fun, and it's a wonderful way to get the kids outdoors.

I met some friends for the last day of the pumpkin festival... and believe it or not, this was my first time ever going to Butler's Orchard. Whenever anyone mentions apple picking, usually this spot comes up. So I followed the signs (and saw where people were pointing), and made my way to a parking space on the grass. I do like that you show your ticket and grab a wristband before even going inside... this meant I also had a map. So I studied that for a few minutes and then went inside. The main mission: apple cider donuts. I waited about 5 minutes in line -- shout out to the person who pointed out that we didn't have to wait in the extra long line... that was for all food, not just donuts. I grabbed myself a half dozen, and sheesh... okay, i like Fall again. I forgot how delicious these donuts are... and they were still warm. The rest of my time at Butler's was spent sipping cider, eating BBQ (that was a wonderful pit turkey sandwich), and just watching everything going on. The pumpkin picking, mazes, goats, corn pool, and everything else going on made for a really cool space. It was my first time going to Butler's, but it won't be my last. I'll be back -- especially to check out the cidery specifically. The blackberry cider I had was fantastic!

Such a treat. I love coming to Larriland each year to grab fresh fruit. I still decided to go and buy some from the farm stand and to see if they at least still had some of my favorite products. They did I was happy to grab some up. They have Taharka Bros ice cream and some flavors I had never tried before so I grabbed a couple, don't judge. Not stating if they made it home or not but why would anyone let perfectly good ice cream go to waste on a hot ride home. Come on now, make it make sense lol. If I'm back in the area during harvest time, I'll definitely go back to grab up some fresh produce.

I went to Larriland Farm with a few friends this past Saturday afternoon for blackberry and peach…read morepicking, which are two of my favorite fruits. I've also never picked either fruit before, so I was very excited. The farm is huge, with many different sites. We stopped by the farm market first to look at various produce. There were so many fresh fruits and vegetables (if you are lazy and don't want to pick any, you can buy it here). We were very enticed by the strawberry milk (which sadly, I didn't end up buying). I did buy a bag of dry ingredients to make corn chowder for 14.99, which I enjoyed four meals of! First, we went to pick blackberries. I got one of the cartons for 9.99 (there's also a smaller one for 6.99) because I got greedy and wanted lots of blackberries. Unfortunately, it took me at least an hour to fill up my carton with the blackberries that looked ripe since most of the ones we saw looked more like raspberries (bright red, incredibly tart, and most definitely not ready to be picked). Very occasionally, I'd find a really fat and juicy blackberry, which immediately got plucked off the tree and straight into my carton. I tried some of them after picking and a lot of them were pretty sour even though they were ripe. I was quite sad that I labored in vain. Overall, it was a very hot day and with the scarce amount of ripe blackberries, I should have just bought them at the farm market. Finally, one of my friends and I went to pick peaches while the rest of them went to stare at sunflowers. We were done in less than 15 minutes since we picked ~30 for the 19.99 box (the cheapest option). The peaches were great, 2-3 days after picking. I've been enjoying them with other friends so far. If there's anything I'd recommend picking from Larriland, it's the peaches. Fun time at the farm, the prices are a bit steep for picking, and I'm still kind of sad about the lack of sweet blackberries.

I'm a glam country girl and will forever be. Flowers, plants, fruit, vegetables, farm fresh meats, dairy, bakery items, etc, etc, etc. High quality, always fresh. Store is always clean. They just did an expansion of the store making more space for product placement & customers to roam. I love the open market feel. Staff...always friendly professional. I could have a bad day and coming here instantly cheers me up. Prices... health costs money but copays cost more. You choose. Parking... decent. The turnover is quick and I've never had to wait to park. People are usually in & out. Issues... the only herbs they sell is cilantro. I'm ok with that (mostly). But I really wish they had mint & basil. They are closed during winter. Makes sense but... Those are the longest 4 months for me.

I love getting my seasonal produce from there because it is so fresh and flavorful. They also have locally sourced baked goods, jams, spices, and candies. The plant selection is also unreal. They have about 8 greenhouses all filled with different plants. Feels like walking through a local garden rather than a nursery. A plus is also that they usually have a food truck on the weekends. The day I went was Mikes Gelato.

My hubby and I caught the tail-end of the market and bought some treats to take home! Veg Heaven - Scrumptious vegan pastries particularly the moist and fluffy blueberry muffin! The banana muffin and apple turnovers are tasty too. While the bbq fried chicken sandwich was fun to try, it was dense and messy. The chocolate eclairs that I got from the Capital Harvest on the Plaza farmers market in DC was divine. The pastries rotate around different farmers markets, will have to check out their Tyson's location! Twin Valley Distilleries - The whiskey and flavored rum tasting was too tempting to pass up a bottle! The sweetness of the fresh juices perfectly masked the rum, cutting the alcohol content to 15% ABV. Refreshing and perfect for a warm summer day with a nice kick! We bought all 3 flavored rums at $25/each - Hibiscus Sorrel, Fruit Punch, and Pineapple. Potomac Sweets - The croissants and decadent pastries looked scrumptious! Although the pastries are stored in a glass display case, they are still baking under the sun and are dry and stale. The brownie was alright. Recommend grabbing a pastry here bright and early when the market opens. Senzu Juice - Refreshing cold-pressed juices. The "Refresh" Watermelon Mint juice is my favorite. Liberty Delight Farms - All sorts of dog goodies from raw bones to chunky pieces of dried beef heart and chicken/beef liver. Treat your dog at the market! Great place to grab some breakfast and some treats to take home!
