Going to Aldi has spoiled us and it is hard to go back to a regular grocery store when you pay half the price of your total bill at Aldi. I had never heard of Aldi until I began receiving flyers in the mail. It reminds me of Fresh & Easy. There was a nice selection of produce. They had the largest apples I had ever seen or heard of, Envy apples. The store was clean and orderly. The staff was friendly and helpful. The bagging situation was a little different, but it seems to be good for keeping down long lines. As for the shopping carts, I have zero complaints about that. No stray carts in the parking lot. No cars being hit by rogue baskets that someone was too lazy to return and you get your little deposit back upon returning the cart. Overall, I was pleased. read more

Just wanted to check out the store and see what it's like. So they have a new shopping cart system you got to put a quarter in and you get a cart, you get your quarter back when you return your cart. I guess they want you to load your groceries and your for kids in your car and then return your cart for a quarter. What happens if you don't have a quarter on you? Let's just make shopping a more difficult task than it already is. Oh and there goes a few more jobs down the drain. read more

This was my very first experience at Aldi. I dealt with the quarter cart deposit after asking an attendant that didn't bother asking why I looked super confused, but I get it. Forget that I don't carry cash hardly at all anymore, but she let me borrow a quarter. The next thing was that there's not much of one thing, there's like one or two selections of everything on the planet. I like the concept. But the last thing is why I'll never go back. So while I was pushing the cart down the aisles, I felt a shock. It happens. It was dry, I've got a lot of hair, I'm bound to pick up some static electricity. But then it happened again. And again. And again. And it kept getting stronger, to where I couldn't even touch the metal anymore. So after a full 4 minutes, another employee saw me struggling toward the exit, and I asked her about it. Her response was, "Oh yeah, it's our floors. I don't know why it does that." read more

I love this store! It's amazing I started shopping at the Azusa store, then I moved to Glendora and they had built one here. It saves me so much money! I cook 6 days a week for 2 adults for $160 a month! DEAL! I love the produce, meat and canned goods. I can say at 18 years old moving into my own apartment it's good to have a store like this that saves me money. I go 2 times a month and they always have something new and good to try! read more

Dear ALDI, I didn't know I would need instructions on how to go grocery shopping. Also you should have your shopping protocols posted on the door for first time shoppers. A quarter for the shopping cart? Ok fine. Damn it, I don't have any quarters. Go inside, no hand baskets either. Ok fine, I'll use my shopping bags. Watch the annoyed checker scan my groceries and realize he has no place to put them after scanned, that's weird ok. Then watch the checker sigh loudly as he starts tossing my groceries onto a shelf across the way. I don't mind the whole bagging my own grocery thing but I wasn't aware. I'm thrilled there are people who'd rather pay more for food so they get a chipper "Hi! how are you!?" from the cashier, rather than crazy low prices and fast check out times. That means I won't have to deal with them when i drop into Aldi! Quarter for the cart isn't hard to figure out: there's a huge F****** SIGN explaining it, and if you don't have a quarter, the clerk with give you one. No, they don't have everything. Tried out the new Aldi in Glendora and honestly I probably won't be back. Yes some of their prices are good but there is ZERO customer service which I guess their model of business is built on. I get it no people out to help you in the aisles etc. My issue was when I checked out and the cashier was basically throwing my groceries into the cart at me while I was trying to bag them. She kept telling me to "swipe your card mam " and I finally told her I was trying to get my groceries in the bag. She then told me she's on a timer and I can bag my groceries "over there" I was embarrassed as there were other ppl in line and she was basically scolding me for not knowing how Aldi operates their check out. She proceeded to tell me it was the "german way" - geez I thought this was America - my bad. 1st off if that's how Aldi does things and they are a new business here maybe they should kindly inform their customers how things work there. Honestly , I have been to the Aldi in San Dimas before and I bagged my groceries and the cashier was nice and friendly. I guess I'll spend a little more and go to Sprouts or Vons! read more

Reasonable prices for the most part, but customer service is very lacking as other reviewers have stated. The food is of decent quality and the selection is good enough for me. Prices seem to go up, albeit slowly. 25 cents for a cart and bagging my own groceries is no problem for me. I went this past Tuesday to shop for groceries. The belt was very dirty, sticky. I grab some fruits and vegetables and place them inside the small plastic bags. When I came to pay the girl in the cashier started removing almost everything from the small plastic bags and almost mad at me because it was hard for her to scan everything. I told her the belt was disgustingly dirty and she still complained because it was hard to scan the items. All stores use those plastic bags and all cashiers scan the items and place them back inside the bag. They use the dirty cart from the previous customer to place the items fast, despite were not customers behind me, there was not a long line I did not understand what was the rush. I had my own reusable bags but it is not allowed to use them right there and I understand. What is hard for me to understand is why it has to be dirty. Better price in some items does not mean or equals dirty. Even if there were not a virus still would be good to keep the belt, cashier, and everything clean and clean the cart prior to place the items from the next customer. Stopped going to Costco as often after Aldi opened. Love the quality of food, hence the Trader Joe connection so really basically the same product. Aldi has better variety and all the basic necessities at a cheaper price than Trader Joe's.*I'm going back to buying less bulk because I realized over the last few years i have thrown away so much food. I used to love this place, I still like it but lately it seems to be understaffed, waited around for about 15 minutes last time because I couldn't find any staff on the floor before finally giving up, getting in line checking out so I can ask the only cashier for help, I had read online that there was low carb bread, for sale and after waiting for the store manager to become available he told me if I didn't see it there they didn't carry it, never offered to order any or show me any similar products. I left believing it was out of their hands but checked online again and kept reading that some Aldis did carry it. read more

Went to check out the grand opening and it overall reminded me of a fresh n' easy. Nice inside, but am giving low rating for the difficulty I had while shopping with a child. The cart system requires a quarter, which you get back when you return the cart. But the only cart return is by the front door. There are none located the parking lot. This makes it difficult for mamas who have to unload groceries in their car, then walk the cart back to the entrance, then carry your child back to the car. In my case a sleeping baby in a heavy car seat. When checking out they don't bag your items either, they place them back into the cart, then after paying, there is an area for you to self bag your items. Also difficult when shopping with children. It's already a challenge to shop with children and this store seemed to make it that much more of a challenge. With moms being a large make up of the customers Aldi might want to rethink these customer service aspects which are designed to save them money on less employees, but make it harder on their shoppers. read more
