Aldi has a not bad of a selection of vegetables and fruits. They dont always have everything but it's good enough. Prices are reasonable for most of the things. 2 stars because it's the cheapest place for most grocery items around the area. However , last week I was over charged items on my receipt and 2 times now the meat has been bad . Very disappointed because this is my go to spot but I'm a little hesitant after today hoping to bbq for Labor Day (bought yesterday)and the "fresh" burger meat package was a little tented , when I opened it there was a clear rotten egg smell. Thrown into the trash , last time it was chicken. Also some of the bacon I've noticed has gone rancid within the last week visits. A lot of the eggs are cracked so you have to thoroughly check each container, or just skip on them all together . From now on I will get my meats somewhere else , also another downfall is the contstant changing items, it's hard to meal plan and then the next thing you know that produce item or grain isn't available . I was in the store in Laverne this morning at 9 AM and witnessed a manager having an altercation with a Middle Eastern, elderly man, she was mocking him, making fun of him and denying it while laughing in his face he was so upset, and the so-called manager kicked him out of the store about three or four customers were looking on so disappointed while another started videotaping the incident, the manager and other employees started laughing about the incident as I put my products down along with a couple of others and left the store without purchasing anything teach your manager, an employee customer service because what happened today was quite disgusting and I'm utterly disgusted and disappointed in your so-called manager, she should be fired read more

I usually have a good experience when shopping at ALDI in La Verne, but on Jan 27, one of the cashier's was not the best. I know not everyone always has a good day at work, but no reason to be so rude. I purchased two items and had my own bag. No hello, or even an acknowledgement. She placed the first item in the cart, and left the other, bananas, on the scale. I paid with my card and I waited for her to either put the bananas in the cart or at least move them towards me. Nothing. I told her those were mine (in a questioning tone), and she said "yes" and still didn't make a move. I removed them from the scale and left. Be careful with returns/refunds. I did a return this morning and purchased a few items but was still owed a refund. The only cashier short changed me, then when I questioned it, she said it was because of my purchase. I was going to step aside to calculate it so I am not in the way of other customers. The girl then gave me the money owed with no apology. I think this store looks clean and a good place to shop but thought management should know that this behavior was sketchy. Beware of this store if you handicap you may use the electric cart in store only at this location. You have to take your groceries out in a shopping cart with out any assistance here. I actually like Aldi's on foothill in La Verne , I like what they offer , customer service for the most part is friendly, but the last few times that I have been in the lines have been longer and longer. I get it , I've worked in retail I understand that that shit happens. But this time the line was at least 10 people long. I asked the young man to call another employee to open of the line , he's says he can't that he's busy , really WTF. Isn't customers your business. I love this place. Yes, they usually only have 1 checkout line open at a time. Yes you have to pay to get a cart, and yes they don't have EVERYTHING you need at one spot. But for the deals we get this has become our first stop when grocery shopping. We've never spent more than $50 at a time here. It's like stepping into a Time Machine and going back to a time before inflation. It's always stocked, always clean, and I've never been treated bad by any staff member. We always go here, then Trader Joe's (same owners, similar deals), then Stater bros to get one off items we need. read more

The workers at this location are really nice. I've been to the San Dimas, Arcadia, and Covina locations and this one in La Verne seems the most organized. All the Aldi locations run on a skeleton crew. I often see that the person stocking shelves is the same person manning the cashier. I've learned to just be patient at Aldi if I have to wait for a staffer because after all, it's why their prices are so low and they take exchanges for everything. I've also witnessed some horrible customers that the staff has to deal with from people demanding quarters for the carts to people stealing shopping bags. My kudos to the staff. read more

It took me awhile to get used to this store. The quarter you need to use a shopping cart, the lack of music and the cashier's attitude of "get 'em out as soon as you can." But I've grown to really like this store. The prices are super reasonable and they have a lot of the same products that other stores have at a lower price. I like that they have a limited selection of things. I've gone to a different store to purchase something simple, like yogurt, and have been overwhelmed by the selection! I recently purchased a significant amount of asada meat from Aldi. Upon opening the packages, I was immediately struck by a foul odor emanating from the meat. All the containers had the same spoiled smell, which was alarming given that the sell-by date indicated the meat should still have been good. To handle the situation, I double-bagged the meat in plastic and stored it in the fridge, intending to return it to the store the next day.To ensure I could still prepare food for my family, I went to another market to buy the same type of meat. The next day, I returned to Aldi with the spoiled meat, placing it in three bags and a box to contain the smell, which was still quite noticeable. Following the instructions from Aldi's customer service, I brought the meat to the store along with my receipt.Upon entering the store, I noticed the cashier was busy with other customers, so I waited in line, keeping the meat away from others to avoid disturbing them with the smell. When it was my turn, I explained the situation to the cashier. She asked how much meat I had, and I told her it was three containers, as instructed by the main office. Her response was condescending as she insisted on seeing my receipt, which took me a moment to find. After presenting it, she made me wait another 10 minutes.Throughout the interaction, I expressed my concern for other customers who might purchase meat from the same batch. However, the cashier repeatedly responded in a sarcastic tone, indicating other items on the floor, and seemed dismissive of my concerns. I had a very bad experience today, after selecting my groceries as usual, got to the cashier who had a cart next to her but was too lazy to pull it forward and start addressing my items instead she waited for me to empty my cart first to use it which has not happened in the past. I had to say HI how are u. When she was scanning my items, she was throwing them in the cart like if it was trash, I had juices and cans that she threw on top the bread. This update is long overdue since ALDI has become my go to for quick market shopping. I can't remember at what point the staff changed but it changed for the better. Everyone is so kind and helpful, especially during quarantine the associates were top notch. The selection at the store is also on point. So happy to update this review. I've been to this location several times and I have always had a good experience and I am also aware to be patient, also I've work customer service and it can be much at times. With that being said I know what good or basic customer service is. I didn't wait long in line for the cashier to check me out what perturbed me was I said hello with no response, she never made eye contact or really looked at us in general or spoke except to ask if I wanted my receipt. She overall had a very negative attitude but wasn't overtly rude, I believe the register said her name was Adriana. So the first time I had heard of Aldi was in reference to the competition they created for the new Grocery stores of '365' (product of Whole Foods Market) Yesterday I was running multiple errands I found myself next to one and decided to give it a try. Not sure how I feel about this one... I see a new trend in Grocery stores, like value shopping and the looks of the store have a "Food for Less" look to them. The employees are nice and friendly, very helpful but not quite sure if I'm in the this 'market model' trend. Did the produce look ok? Yes. Did they offer organic options? Yes. Does the store have national brands? not so much I know most think I am a Gourmet Market snob... and yes you are probably right as those are where my roots lay. however I would like to think I am open to any new concept that brings wholesome, good quality product to the consumer. If I can't make it to a Trader Joe's or Sprouts I will perhaps walk through these doors again... but other than that scenario I doubt that I will. Tips which I've there are a few I've seen already: bring a quarter to rent a cart but once you return it you'll get it back, bring your own bags to pack your purchase cause they charge at least 10 cents each. I love Aldi stores for their price! You can purchase groceries for the week for about half the price you would at Ralph's or any of the other big grocers. I was in the La Verne area already today, so I figured I'd stop here for my groceries instead of driving to my usual location (the one in Upland). I was disappointed. This location wasn't as organized, and wasn't as clean as my home location. One of the aisles I walked through even seemed a bit dark. Not sure if the light was out there or what, but it made my shopping experience here less enjoyable. Will definitely be sticking to the Upland location from now on. read more

It's crazy to me how much food I can walk out of Aldi with and only spend ~$15: eggs, organic kale or other salad greens, potatoes, onions, squash, tomatoes, cucumbers, portobello mushrooms, cauliflower, bananas, and organic spices or oils (avocado, olive). There is a decent selection of beef (conventional, free-range, and on occasion, grass-fed) and pork (all conventional) as well as things like sausages, fancy cheeses, olives, kombucha, Califa and Stumptown coldbrew (with nondairy milk!) etc. Sure, Aldi is quirky. You can't get a shopping cart without a quarter. The store itself always looks partially unpacked with the items in their shipping boxes. And you've got to bag your own groceries in bags you've brought. But...the prices are worth it especially if you're budgeting or struggling paycheck to paycheck. read more

Do you enjoy awkward silence while shopping for your groceries? Do you enjoy searching and climbing for the items you want and/or need? Then you'll love it at Aldi's. I had been curious to check out Aldi's for awhile, but it was a terrible experience. It honestly looked like the apocalypse had hit and this store had been raided. Products are displayed in the boxes they were delivered in and sometimes the boxes are so large I cannot see the product inside. I needed String Cheese and saw that it was at the very top shelf in the open refrigerator section.... I grabbed the box to see if they had any in it and I'm grateful there were only 4 bags of cheese in there because the box got stuck on the shelf while the packaged cheese came showering down on my head. I'm of average height so that is unacceptable! There are no familiar name brands and it seems this store's products have no rhyme or reason as to where they are placed. The staff moves like sloths while they sit in their chairs at check out and are not the friendliest. You have to guess how many bags you'll need in advance while the cashier puts everything on the belt back into your cart unbagged. You get to bag everything yourself and hope you guessed correctly. Some of their bags do not have handles. I'm almost positive I have forgotten several more reasons why I dislike this store, but I hope to never step foot in an Aldi's again. I like this ALDI. They always have fruits/vegetables in stock. Their eggs are of a good price. Most of the items I want are usually in stock and of a good price. I like using their cardboard boxes to carry out my groceries. I wish that the cashiers can be more gentle with my fragile fruits, as I feel they're in such a rush that they drop them into the basket, bruising them, rather than take their time and place the items gently in my basket. read more

Great products and prices for those of us who are stretching their budgets! That said, please be prepared for LOTS of sub-standard customer experiences in exchange for those rock bottom prices. Today's experience included a giant, electric pallet parked right in the middle of the aisle, so I had to back up my cart and walk around the next aisle, so that I could get to the other end of the blocked aisle. Ok, not such a big deal. Fast forward to my approach to the register with a full cart, where there was not a cashier to be found. Waited patiently, old man in front of me at the register is walking around, asking, "Where is the cashier?!" Finally, 'Adriana' walks to the register, asks him if he needs a bag (yes), then tells him to grab the paper one underneath the conveyor belt. Old man is a bit slow, starts to bag the 3 items he paid for, when Adriana points to the wall and tells him, "Go bag your items over there." Mmmmm-kay! Old man shuffles off with his bag and few belongings, so Adriana says to me, "Pull your cart forward!" Sure thing, Adriana. Right away, boss. Guess I didn't put it in the right position to meet her swipe-n-toss routine, because she grabs the end of the cart closest to her and yanks it away from me, as I'm getting ready to insert my card in the reader. No prob, Adriana, I didn't need those fingers, anyway! All in all, I got what I paid for...great merch and some of the lousiest service ever. I'll still go back, but next time, I'll be sure to wear my chain mail and keep my eye peeled for Adriana. read more

I really like shopping at ALDI markets have had pleasant shopping experience until just recently all it takes is an bad apple to make it an unpleasant experience and give a bad representation of a place. I walked in to return a product that I was no satisfied with first time returning a product so not sure what steps I need to be done , so as I approached the entry why in entering the store I see an employee by the name Natasha or Natalie walking opposite my direction so we were approaching each other, I say excuse me may I ask a question, yes she says not giving the attention a customer deserves when asking a question she continue to walk away from me not giving me the facial and eye contact, I was seeing the back of her head as she was answering my question, then she turns pointing to a cashier but not addressing me yet, I said excuse me you need to give the eye contact when your talking to a customer, talk to my face, then I was looking in the area of nuts there was a metal cage to place boxes she slams a box in it, angered by me addressing her unprofessionalism. Totally uncalled for someone needs customers service training. I really like the store but not returning due to people like her. read more

My family comes from Germany so we were so stoked to see our old grocery store in Southern California. They have hardly any name brands, they just produce things themselves and you save huge on it. (In Germany the items are usually even produced at the same factory/location/whatever as the name brands). I've bought like everything in the stores and very, very rarely been disappointed. They also have a great selection of German chocolate, sweets, etc which is amazing. They don't always have all the fruits/vegetables, they have your basic selection plus things that in season. You won't find better quality for the price anywhere (this helps make sure that the foods are fresher, at a better price, and less wasted) We usually just plan our cooking based on whats at Aldi. The middle isle with the weekly items is my favorite place in the world. They have great stuff, and good quality for the price. We even bought our mattress here. Only items I haven't loved have been the chips (they're yummy, but I really just want the Lay's bbq) and the yogurt (tastes a little aspartame-y). They use the quarter-locked carts, which sometimes you still find in the parking lot and get a free quarter. This is great because they don't need to pay an employee to put them all away, especially on rainy days like today or in the blistering heat. Then you save money, woo! I don't work here, but I know they treat their employees well (for a grocery store). They even get seats for the check stand, because why the heck not. They're also closed most major holidays. read more

This place is garbage just like their products. I made the mistake of going there--my very first time might I add!! And while I was paying, their system shuts down! In the middle of my transaction!! My bank showed they pulled the money but Aldi had no record. The manager suggested I pay for the food again??? Ha! I left the crap behind and I disputed the transaction and was able to " temporarily " get my money back. Fast forward EIGHT months later and the bank wants to charge me AGAIN for products I received!
