Cashiers are apparently rude here .Not just me I read a bunch of reviews stating this . They get paid 14.50 which is a decent chunk of change do not have to bag and still have audacity to treat you bad. Today I went in haven't been for awhile now because every time I have gone in lately workers seem annoyed and disgruntled.None the less tried because they do have great diaper prices but again Rude rude rude .Woman cashier with mandala tattoos on wrists always seems cranky and lazy but today was especially awesome! She totally ignored her line as she is chatting to someone and man behind me had a couple of items so me being kind I said go ahead sir did not have much either but I'm a nice person but she kept on ignoring line gets bigger still nothing my daughter touches a cart and she yells excuse me don't touch those! I actually told my daughter to move cart because the rude cashier that was ignoring everyone had it blocking entire walk way . Which is a FIRE HAZARD so again myself trying to be helpful including my daughter we finally got her recognition and she stopped to yell at my daughter instead of hello sorry for wait or my apologies for ignoring you this whole time My conversation was quite intriguing.I was about to just walk out and leave but I really needed diapers. Then she says hello and I looked at her like really and SHE STARTED LAUGHING! Today was enlightening This is horrible to treat customers like that and on the holidays is just tacky. Thank you for being aggressive with my groceries and throwing them in the cart you are a great person.You tossed my water bottles (pack of 24) on top of my artisan bread like a champion! And how you laughed about it that's the part she deserves extra hours for maybe even a raise! Sticking with Sprouts & Trader Joes. Selection is worse than Fresh N Easy. A few organic items but I was expecting mostly organic. Also, expecting better quality food but most things had added sugar or soybean oil. What really sealed it was that they charge for a bag (10¢, but that's not it). I bought a bag but then the cashier just dumps all my food into the basket after she rang it up & left the bag folded up. I wouldn't have bought the bag if I had to bag it myself...Never coming back!!! read more

I love this store! Friendly and fast service! They even lent me a quarter to use the shopping cart . I always shop here to get my staples like cereal, stewed tomatoes, broth, frozen blueberries, milk, etc. Meat selection is also a plus in freshness and price. Price is excellent. Look out for their mailers as they have coupons! They also have some household items. Highly recommended this place! read more

Love this store! It may be small, but it packs a great punch. I highly recommend the produce and frozen goods, which are high quality and are very reasonably priced. I would so also go there for the dairy and drinking water since they price them so low. Their cart and bag policy does take some getting used to. My 1st time at an Aldi store... Was not sure what to expect. Definitely didn't know I was going to bag my own groceries. Didn't know they don't have bags, but you can purchase them. AND I didn't know about their carts. Bring a quarter with you! However, I did hear that they carry more organic stuff. My first time at Aldi because I've heard so much about it on YouTube. I wanted to buy some fresh fruits ands vegetables and was very disappointed. There were nats all over the asparagus and baby potatoes and I mean in the 30's. After that disappointment I went to get some apples where I was greeted with fly's. Aldi has quality products and is a good place to save on your overall grocery bill. The selection is limited and you don't get as much service as you would at a higher end grocery store, but I think that is a small compromise for the savings. Bring your own bags (I am used to this since I recently moved from Los Angeles) and a quarter for the cart if you need one (you'll get it back when you return your cart). The La Verne location is much nicer than Aldi's I've been to in the Midwest. Of course some other grocery stores may carry some items slightly cheaper, but overall you'll be saving if you want a one-stop shop for a variety of grocery items. read more

I will start by saying Aldi's is one of my favorite stores, and I e been shopping at Aldi's for over 4 years.. usually Rancho and Fontana. I don't often do reviews, and this might be the first negative one, but I just went shopping yesterday evening 9.18.22 at la Verne store ( since it was on the way back from a trip) and had a very unpleasant customer service experience. I was charged incorrectly for a frozen item, and that was ok, I went back as I had also mistakenly mixed up an item that looked similar. I got correct items, went back to the same cashier, only 4 min later after noticing incorrect charge on receipt.. ( hadn't even left store) and no one behind me when I went back in the line. The cashier got so frustrated with me as I tried to explain, and said now you're confusing me..no apology for charging me wrong price, no acknowledgement when I said, please just ring it up however is easiest for you.., no eye contact to even say bye when I said thank you. I am not going to try to judge entire store based on this experience, but imagine my surprise when I looked at reviews on here regarding cashiers and customer service. Manager, I would like to shop there.. please address being patient and kind to your cashiers or ask them to work in an area they don't have to don't have to work with customers. read more

I used to love this store. Now everytime I go in I have to wait in a long line. They only have one checker working. Not sure its even worth the wait for the cheap groceries. Also makes sure to check the dates when you buy milk, chicken salad, and yogurt. I have bought expired. Not happy read more

I visited Aldi once and that was enough. All they have are cheap-looking off-brands of basic boxed dinners, cereals, and frozen foods. No matter how broke you are, it's not much more money to just buy The Von's or Stater Bros' brands down the street. At least those brands are reputable. The employees are much friendlier at Vons and Stater Bros. too. I just don't get the hype of Aldi. As I was exploring Aldi, an employee snapped, "Excuse me" as he was trying to get past me. I've read the reviews from the grocery snobs and have to disagree. I can tell you that these people have gone in....spent 2 minutes...didnt see their regular brands and walked out. You need to learn to shop this store. Most of their products are their house brands but are of very good quality. Sure, some items may not meet your standards but that is with any generic product. I have found some of their products are actually better than the major brands. They dont stock 10 different kinds of one product but either does Costco. If you take your time to shop you will find they have a large variety of products but little variety within each product. But really, how many kinds of mayo or orange juice do I need? The 25cent cart rental is a little annoying I agree but if it keeps the prices down, then I can deal with it. Take some time and shop the store slowly. You will find most of what you need and at quite a good savings. And if you find something that you aren't happy with, they will replace it and refund your money....both. Sure, Vons is a beautiful store but you are paying for that beauty. Im willing to bet that if you purchased a cart full of similar items at both Aldi and Vons your cost savings at Aldi would probably be in the 30% or more range. Love Aldi!! Store is clean and the staff here are very helpful and friendly. The produce section has a nice fresh selection. My favorite part is that Aldi has great prices! Have not been to Aldi in a long time and thought I'd stop by since there is good prices. worst customer service! Kamran was the one at the register, he first asked if I was paying cash or card I said card and he said can you insert it I was like hmmm before you scan everything ??why is that ?? he said I'm trying to get promoted and they check our timing I told him wouldn't you want to give better customer service?? Of all the Adli's I've been to, this one is about as good as it gets. Over all, the prices are hard to beat. $3.99 on a 12 pk of La Croix is the best deal I've seen anywhere. Oftentimes I go here just for that. Love that they now take credit! I HATE how cold it is throughout the whole store so I try to get in, get out. Always seems understaffed but I think that's a problem that goes beyond this location. This place needs to get some Halo Top in stock STAT. read more

Okay, so at first - I didn't care for this store. I orginally shopped at the one off of Summit in Fontana and was really saddened by my experience. I heard great things about this new store coming to California. However, the lack of selection, adjusting to having to bag my own groceries -on that looooong table. This all didn't sit well with me (like many other reviewers on Yelp). I, remember telling my Mother "I doubt I'll shop here again". Well, I'm an Aldi addict now. I love Winco and I'm a huge supporter of how they treat their employees and offer stock options. However, Aldi is like "Winco's little sister" . I'm my opinion. At Aldi yoy do ONLY have their selection too choose from..YES, this is true! But when you leave there paying....50-100 bucks for a 4-6 days of groceries...all I see is Dolla signs. I'm saving money. I love Aldi and after a few trips - you adjust to getting a quarter for the cart, location of the items, knowing which items you like and you'll start to go here first, and shop at other stores for any other favorite brands. I love trader joes like the rest of us. However, Aldi kicks it's butt in price. Fun fact: Aldi now carries more organic items second to Costco. I've seen their organic section and it's small and resonable in price. They have a good amount of Gluten-free items as well. Enjoy! read more

We went there on opening day around 3:30 and observed some employees fiddling with chains on the carts for some customers, but decided to bypass that and just walk to the entrance and get a free bag from the friendly employee. Once inside, my impression was that Costco and 99 cent store had an unfriendly baby and called it Aldi. They had a small produce section and some offbrand cereals that had cheap-looking packaging, and frozen stuff. Not a very big selection of the name brands of cereal. There were a lot of frozen food brands that also had cheap, boring, uninspired packaging. The prices weren't low enough to justify buying a brand of cheese I never heard of. I'd rather spend 50 cents more and buy Kraft elsewhere. So, we go to the last check out nearest the wall with just 2-4 items in the bag we were given and there's no sign saying items should be removed from the bag for the checker. The cashier told us in a firm tone, "What you're going to want to do is take your groceries out of your bag. We're looking to get out of here too. That slows us down." Her tone and manner was very rude and condescending. Next, instead of putting our bag at the end of the checkout lane to take with us, she put it in a shopping cart. We forgot we couldn't take the shopping cart. In the same firm, condescending, rude tone she reminded us: "The cart stays here. Since you have your groceries in a bag, you don't really need it." It would have been fine if it was delivered in a courteous, polite tone. Instead we were made to feel like children being scolded by an angry mother hen. She was so rude neither my boyfriend or I could believe it. If we can't use the cart to at least go to the front door exit, then why did she put our grocery bags in a cart in the first place? Why not just leave them on the counter? We may have given Aldi the benefit of the doubt and would come back to give their off-brands a chance but if that's the typical attitude of the employees, no thanks. Not worth it. This was my lucky little find. I kept seeing these stores popping up all over the place, and out of curiosity wanted to check it out. To my surprise and delight, this is a German grocery chain. This is exciting because I try to explore my heritage as much as I can, and the little goodies they sell here help me to do so. The prices are GREAT. This is now the only place I do my grocery shopping. They have a wide variety of items, and it seems like there's always something new to try. The employees are always friendly and greet you wherever you see them in the store. Make sure to bring a quarter to borrow a shopping cart, and bags to load up your groceries when you are done. My weekly grocery cost has been cut nearly in half from shopping here, I highly recommend it! read more

The people who wrote bad reviews based upon the lack of selection do not understand the Aldi business model. That's one of the reasons they can keep their prices so low. They have a limited selection of each item. Instead of 10 different kinds of ketchup, they have one. The quality of their products are as good as the national brands. You people just don't get it. Baffles me that people actually like this place. The produce is second rate, not all that cheap, and they don't rotate it often- so you have to pick around rotten produce. Aldi is like a tiny Walmart grocery store. The meat selection is whack. The cheese selection is over processed and has garbage selection. In fact, most of the store is over processed. Plastic bottle, cheap, high fructose loaded salad dressings if you like that kind of thing. I thought everything was expensive for over processed food items. The fact that people give this store a good rating is beyond me... if you like shopping at Aldi, you DO NOT know how to cook. I share the same sentiments as the previous 2 reviews. I was completely unimpressed at the selection of products offered, the layout was awkward, and the customer service was horrible. I bought a few things to try, but so far am underwhelmed and will not return in the future. I'd rather go to the 99 cent store to pay less, get name brand items, and better service. In fact, I'd even be willing to pay more for better products, layout, and customer service. Oh and a place where I don't have to put a quarter in a slot to retrieve a cart -___- Crazy to think this store is owned by the same parent company as Trader Joe's....which is likely where I'll continue to do the majority of my grocery shopping. read more

Pretty professional place. Competitive prices that beats any supermarket in the entire county. If they raise their prices though I'll leave. Sometimes they mislabel products. For example, I bought poultry or fish and it definitely looked like beef when I cooked it. You won't find everything here but you're going to save a lot of money monthly and annually by switching grocery stores. Bring a quarter they are serious about shopping carts. This place has been great since its opening! Some of the items are pretty decent some are not so you do have to test! But the quality and prices here are great! They do compare to all the other markets! I noticed the times Ive been here the dozen eggs are always $.99 cents! Which is pretty amazing! The staff here are always nice and friendly with greeting. One thing that Aldi does here is with their shopping carts you have to insert a quarter to grab a cart but once your done shopping you put the cart back into its spot you'll receive your quarter back. The manager at this location was extremely rude and unprofessional. I selected two "rope baskets" because the price was unbelievably good. The original price was $9.99 and right next to it was the price $4.99. I have purchased many reduced priced items that are similarly marked. However, when I checked my receipt, I was charged the full price. I asked the cashier about it and she was willing to give me the presented sale price. The manager would not authorize the discount because he said that someone had moved the price onto the basket's tag and the price they moved was $34.99 (which could not be seen because of the way it was moved.) He refuses to listen to me explain what I saw and how they should honor the price presented, repeated his argument that the $34.99 price was there incorrectly, and then walked away from me. The cashier was sweet and apologetic, but the manager was rude and dismissive. read more

We came the day after the grand opening. We put in a quarter to get a shopping cart. It took a few seconds to figure it out. At the entrance, we were given a free shopping bag by a friendly employee. I wasn't too impressed when I walked inside. I started getting this 99 cent store feel as I was browsing through the aisles, but the prices were not 99 cents. There were many unknown brands. The organic produce selection is very small. The best brands there were Coca Cola and Naked Juice. As we were paying, the cashier was putting all the items in the cart, but not bagging them. I realized that we had to bag our own items where they have a counter along the front wall. As we were exiting the store, there was an employee offering to return the shopping cart, but my husband was going to take his quarter back so he returned it himself. He got a weird vibe from the guy. Not sure why there is someone standing there to return carts. He'd be more useful inside helping people bag their groceries. Not really impressed. It opens at 9am, not the most convenient time. I say it lasts a year or two. read more

I am surprised at how negative some of these reviews are! I guess this store isn't a store for everyone but it's certainly the store for me! The prices were excellent and they also had organic food too! I did all of my grocery shopping here and have had no complaints on the quality of the food. I don't care much about the brand names anyways since we mostly buy produce, dairy and meat. The quarter for the shopping cart is great because it ensures you bring your cart back and saves them time and money from having employees rounding them up all day. You don't have to buy the plastic bags, you can purchase reusable bags and REUSE them! Plus you are saving plastic that way! The lines are quick and efficient because after you're finished you walk 3 feet to a large table area where you bag your own groceries! I'm not lazy so I don't mind bagging my own things! I love their concept and their prices! I will be doing my grocery shopping here from now on! read more
