(Side note: One day, I tried the breakfast and wasn't a big fan of it. The food lacked flavor overall.) The bread is superbly soft, perfectly flat, and easily opened to stuff goodies inside. Brush (a lot) of olive oil on the top of one loaf and cover it with za'atar, pop it in the oven until warm, and you will have the best Syrian "pizza!" Absolute best part is that a package of 6 loaves is less than $3! Can't find that in the grocery stores! Highly recommended this store. It's small, but filled with lots of tasty food.

Later, they took the space that was previously a supermarket on Harford Rd just above Northern Parkway. I stopped by today out of a desire for Chocolate. Dark Chocolate, really. I pursued their homemade chocolates and my eyes were fixed on their Jumbo Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups. I bought just one from the friendly gal working the counter. I ate it when I returned to my car as it would otherwise melt. It was heavenly. It was decadent. It was perfect. When I worked for a broker 40 years ago, we represented Gardner's Candies out of Tyrone, PA. Their Peanut Butter Meltaway was a game changer. Gardner sold to EJ Brach and destroyed the brand which was later acquired by a great outfit in my late father-in-law's American hometown (by way of Greece) Canonsburg, PA. This cup took me back to the excellence of that piece 40 years ago. It's that amazing. The store is a little smaller than their other locations, but, you can find most anything your sweet tooth desires. As an added bonus, they are a CPU for the postal service. I will return soon and buy at least three. Two for me and one to share. I commend this family owned Baltimore treasure to all. You can really be like a kid in THE candy store.

The grocery is smallish, but most Mom and Pop grocery stores aren't huge - they're not the national chains after all. I was impressed that Najarro's carried many of the brands and food items that are staples for my peoples' cooking, and needless to say the enchiladas we made for my grandfather-in-law were a hit. Bottom Line: Latino grocery market with a solid selection of fruits, vegetables, spices, and other items needed to cook Latino food at home. Bonus that it's clearly a family-run business, and it's always great to support local businesses.

The store itself is fairly large and the layout is nicely designed with bright lighting. Food options are decent and who doesn't appreciate that bakery? But... there's some serious room for improvement. The checkout experience can be a total nightmare - endless lines with one or two lines open. Very frustrating. What's even more so is when lines abruptly close as you walk up! There's never anyone restocking, so when meats and produce run out, that's it until the next day. (They really could learn from the Trader Joe's business model). However, I did witness something promising this evening... THREE cashiers on duty at the same time! Let's hope that feedback from the community steers their service in a good direction.

( I know what you're saying! How could you forget the apple juice! The recipe called for "Cloudy Apple Juice" but we settled on regular run of the mill "from concentrate" apple "cocktail." That's what they really should call it not be misleading. While we were in line, one of the customers a few aisles down started yelling inaudibly at the Cashier. Couldn't make out what she was saying, but she was yelling it over and over again. Not sure if the store was calling the cops... but not much seemed to be being done about this somewhat belligerent woman. It was definitely a show. Didn't realize there was a 24 hour return so I froze it to avoid the smell until I could return 3 days later. Customer service manager was extremely rude and instead of returning to my card she actually charged me again. I filed an online complaint and 3 weeks later haven't heard a thing or gotten my refund. Be careful what you pay for and where you buy it. Lesson learned.
