Come here if you don't want the frills and high prices. They carry fresh produce, meat, fish, etc. but the selection is limited. However, their products are fresh and quality is good. Sometimes there are misses such as when you come in for their specials of the week and the shelf is empty . I have had times where I come for their specials on meat and they ran out. It gets annoying when that happens, but I totally understand as their prices are so low. Their dry goods are priced well, too. If you don't mind buying their store brand, then you will save a lot of money. Their baking section is stocked with most things you would need for basic bread, cake, and cookie recipes. They constantly have the best prices for eggs! No other markets have egg prices as low as Aldi. I always come in thinking I need a few items and then walk out with too many items to fit in my reusable bags. Lol read more

Service there is great and very responsive! The workers answered all of my questions and helped me look up products to check if other stores had them in stock. That is awesome! A+ service especially since there are so few workers! Unfortunately...I bought a bug zapping light bulb (Pic Dual Bug Zapper Light Bulb, DON'T BUY IT THEY ARE DUDS) and when I went home (which is 300+ miles away from this Aldi) I installed the light bulb and it didn't work...I just blew $10 on a light bulb that doesn't even work and I can't even go and return it. Consistent with other Aldi stores - it has the same layout! Their grocery section is lacking but if you shop on a daily basis, you will find something you like. I have shopped at Aldi when I lived in Illinois and the store and shopping experience used to stand out like a sore thumb (credit cards weren't accepted before, reusable bags weren't the norm in Illinois). Now that they accept credit cards and reusable bags are part of the California grocery life experience, it's not as terrible. First day (grand opening) review - -Lots of employees -Fully stocked store -Relatively easy to check out with a designated employee working to point you to the line -Expect people to bump into you (it's terribly reminiscent of Black Friday when grocery stores open!) Tips- -Carts are 25 cents deposit (this will be the big shocker for newbies!) -Expect to bag your own stuff (another shocker) -Don't expect a large selection of brand names (this is how they can be affordable with their own in-house brand) -they has a small organic section -No hot deli -Dairy section / Bakery section offer a decent selection It is quite busy on opening day but I am hoping the crowd dies down soon after the freebies are gone. 5 Stars for having tasty Italian, French, and Canadian products! The first time I shopped in an ALDI was in Iceland. Two years later I found out US started opening ALDI stores in CA and I got so excited. European supermarkets are awesome! The prices are cheap for most essential items and if you're not into brands then this place is for you. They do have some popular brands like Hershey's chocolate and Boathouse drinks but most of their stuff RESEMBLE popular brands in packaging so you just have to beware that the taste may not be the same. It may be better or worse. You be the judge. I like the concept of putting in your own quarter and bagging your own items so the price of your groceries can be cheaper. It's not a place for high maintenance individuals but for frugal and wise people who want to stretch their dollar. Some items are seasonal so you just have to grab them while supplies last. It's a no frill no nonsense place so stop expecting so much for those giving low stars. My usual: Milk, spear pickles (delicious!), shepherds pie, truffle chips, habanero cheese sticks, cage-free eggs, salads, eggplant cutlets, lobster mac&cheese, bag of potatoes (79 cents sometimes for a few lbs!), tomatoes, avocados, garlic spread dip, and brioche loaf It's fun just to peruse and read all the different items from around the world. I've been going to Aldi since they opened in Alhambra and Arcadia. The prices are great. The choices have improved over the years. The service is quick and efficient. It's never too crowded. There is one item that I have stopped purchasing at Aldi - milk. Unfortunately, every milk I have bought does not last through the "sell by" date. I'm not sure if it is their refrigeration that is a problem or the transport to the store. I hope this gets worked out. read more

Pretty cool spot. Grocery, snacks, and home items. Bring your own bags, or purchase paper bags at the cashier. Everything was well organized and clean. My German friend knows how much I love Trader Joes & World Market and has been telling me to pay Aldi a visit. Upon walking I was immediately attracted to the wine. I settled for a rose from France that was $5! Was pretty good and really strong. Behind the wine was cookies.. The cookies looked familiar, everything is pretty much the same as you'd see in your local market it's just a different brand and slightly different packaging, but a lot less expensive. I walked down, and picked up some smoked salmon for $4! Can't beat that, can't wait to make some Lox bagels for breakfast. Next thing I got was a big pack of turkey bacon for $2! I was really happy to find inexpensive breakfast items here. Aldi also carries a variety of huge frozen $5 pizzas! Can't wait to be back and pick up pizza's and snacks for date nights in. read more

Great place to get groceries. They keep stock in essentials like bread, eggs, meat, dry pastas, and can goods. Aldi will save you big bucks if you are open to the brands they carry. Since they are a middle size grocer, there is less brand names then a Vons or Ralph's. But, I was able to find can tomatoe sauce, eggs, and other food necessities here opposed to the bigger guys... plus I saved bucks. Help my retired folks get food and felt like we didn't over pay because of the scarce conditions created by Covid19. I myself got away with 2 bags of pantry needs for 21 green backs. My haul included 1lb of deli ham, dozen eggs, half n half, 4 boxes of dry pasta, 2 jars of pasta sauce, 2 cans of tuna, loaf of bread, 3 cans of tomato sauce, & luncheon meat..... musubi time! Saved time and money, with less stress at this location. It's not perfect, some of the brands you want are not at Aldi. But, with an open mind you can find some great stuff. read more

I'm happy to have one more choice for groceries in the area. Aldi has been making its way through Southern California. It's owned by Aldi Nord, a German chain. Side note: Trader Joe's is Aldi Sud. Aldi carries mostly their own store and imported brands of packaged groceries. There is a very limited selection of US national brands. I've found their items to be fairly good I haven't had anything I thought was outstanding yet, but there are tons of other things to try. Prices are decent, so it's easy to shop here on a budget. Yes, it was chaotic during their grand opening. Why would anyone expect anything less. It just means that they marketed it well! People are supporting their entry into the area. The more customers, the fresher their products. One more thing to add: you need a quarter to use the shopping cart. It seems weird at first , but there are good reasons for it. It better ensures that the carts will be returned to the designated place instead on being jammed in your car door. It also helps minimize loss (they cost a lot) which would get passed to the customers through price increases. You get the quarter back when you return the cart. read more

Why such a low rating? I thought the place was cool. It was kind of like if a Trader Joes had a baby with low budget Marshalls Home Goods store. SO it was a weird mish mash of groceries and cheapo house goods like plastic stools, comforters and rolling luggage. Pros: -prices are so cheap! 90% of the items you can find here are considerably cheaper and same brand (usually) you find elsewheree -very helpful and friendly staff. I was excited to check this place out because my gf was raving about the Arcadia one. I went w/ my hubby and we liked the organization and cleanliness, but I was underwhelmed by the selection. On a Tuesday night, it looked empty, but only 1 cashier was open and there was a long line to check out. I rather go to Trader Joe's. Sigh. I know they are related, but I think I expected a Trader Joe's equivalent. The grocery section didn't have that much meat or seafood. The produce prices weren't that great. I'm new to living in this part of LA and I heard about this grand opening on the NextDoor app. I'm a HUGE Trader Joe's fan so when I heard this store is managed by the same company I was excited to check it out. Overall I had a great experience! Many people seemed confused by the $.25 shopping cart experience, but there was a worker standing there when I went and even let me use the cart with their quarter which I think was to help people who've never heard of this get used to it, so it didn't bother me! I think people will learn to be courteous and put carts away if it's tied to getting money back, so I loved the idea. The store has several items that are very inexpensive (see attached pictures) and I love that they have a discount section where they have non-food items for example, Tupperware, silverware, children's toys, Christmas-themed clothing and decorations, cooking dishes, and a few other things. I also liked that they have different brands of food (I didn't recognize most of the brands), it reminds me of a European grocery store. Most of the produce was pretty inexpensive and they had a large selection of dairy products. I was very impressed with their large variety of traditional Hispanic foods. Normally anytime I want certain Hispanic foods I have to go to Vallarta, Vons or Ralphs (Trader Joe's doesn't have those items), so I was very pleased to be able to get those items! You do have to bring your own bags and bag your own groceries, but I'm used to doing that so I don't mind that. The only thing that would stop me from going on a weekly basis is the small frozen food and already prepared foods selection. I always like buying several pre-made green salads, chicken salads, and frozen foods at the beginning of the week for those long work days. I love coming to Aldi for my staples like eggs, lemon and potatoes. Prices are very reasonable and sometimes really inexpensive. Some weeks the eggs are $1.50 for a dozen. I usually get 3. The quality is also very good. Some of the best ginger root I've ever bought was from this Aldi. Probably the highlight of shopping at Aldi has to be the authentic German food from chocolate to cheese to bratwurst. All of the items are reasonably priced. I was curious to try some food from their Deutsch Küche brand. I bought some amaretto cake and spätzle, both items were under $3 each. The amaretto cake comes in a loaf. It was moist and sweet with a pleasant amaretto flavor. The spätzle was really delicious, a cheesy macaroni with the taste of fried onions. I was sorry I didn't buy more as the kids loved it. Aldi is off of Main and Raymond near the Chase Bank and Howard's. Usually there is plenty of parking here. read more

I am so glad Aldi open in Alhambra. It's like other Aldi. I went on Sunday morning in October and lots of people were there. The aisles are big and enough room for 2 carts to roam. Worst cashiers are in the evening shift! It's been three times that these young cashiers in the evening shift will close their lanes as customers approach and then argue with the other coworkers on who will charge the customers! It's unprofessional and rude to have the cashiers contemplate if they are going to charge me, run off on break, or exclusively open the lanes for their friends and not take customers after after that transaction. read more

I usually walk the two blocks from my house to the grocery and discovered that they only carry the crap quality paper bags that one can't even carry bread in without them tearing. Half of me groceries ended up all over the parking lot and the other half on Palm Ave. As someone with a prosthetic leg, it makes it a bit difficult to retrieve all of my groceries from the parking lot and street. When we first checked out this market a year ago, we weren't that impressed and found the shopping experience to be sterile. Then we started taking a closer look at the items we usually buy and realized we could save $5 to $10 a trip versus shopping at Vons! $1.99 for almond milk, $2.69 for a large carton of Greek Yogurt, 50 cents for two bunches of green scallions, 99 cents for a pineapple, $3.79 for a bag of coffee and $2.69 for a 100 ct bottle of acetaminophen among the amazing deals we have found recently. Lots of cool and inexpensive organic items too! The only thing I don't like is being rushed to bag your groceries at checkout time. read more

This is not a one stop store for me, but today it definitely irked me when I went to get the pillsbury dough squares and I notice that they had expired June 25 2021, I'm like okay no big deal I'll put it back , but then I told the WORKER stocking items next to me if there might be a better date in the back since all of the dough in shelf had expired yesterday, without even looking at me he put the one I showed him back in the shelf and in a dismissive tone he said well, we'll just have to see? Still not exciting to shop here. Random selection of items...organized but inventory is not your typical grocery store goods. They do have fresh produce and meats...a large frozen section too. I noticed that some labels looked like national brands but they weren't. Some items/packaging also look eerily similar to those of Trader Joes, which is supposedly connected to this chain somehow. Check-out is kinda slow and you need a quarter to use their cart. Bag your own groceries. Easy in/easy out but I don't see myself going here for my weekly shopping needs. read more
